Chapter 16 - Chapter Sixteen

Johanna looked at me confused, "My father?"

Nodding my head, "Well it's simply because you cannot be trusted." I said not bothering to hide it. She looked very angry upon hearing that, "What do you mean what do you mean I cannot be trusted?"

"Look, John is aware of who the culprit is and he wants to cover this up. I know you were a victim in this accident but at the same time you cannot be trusted, I mean what if you go running your mouth to him?"

Johanna eyed me from head to toe, "You think so little of me."

"And whose fault is that?" I asked, a brow raised.

"Do you think I would want to side with a man who did this to the love of my life!" She barked, hearing her refer to Pierce as the love of her life stirred something in me but I kept quiet and let her continue.

"I will kill him with my own bare hands if need be, now tell me which bastard did this?" For a minute she sounded convincing but I stood my ground, "I will only be speaking to the vice president."

"Okay." Johanna agreed seeing as she could not get to me. "I will be getting discharged today, when I return home I will speak to my father." She then stood up and left.

The door fell shut with her exit. I averted my gaze to Pierce, even while asleep he looked so beautiful I ran my hands through his hair for a brief moment even though it was bandaged, oh how I miss touching him.

"You'll be fine my love," I whispered and I saw his fingers move slightly, tears welled up in my eyes he could sense me he could feel me here, this brought me so much warmth. "I love you, Pierce" I bent over and planted a soft kiss on his forehead before leaving.

On getting outside I hauled a taxi heading for Jordyn's I didn't bother to pay the taxi driver a look I simply told him my location and we hit the road he turned the radio on but I didn't bother to listen to what it said, too deep in thoughts suddenly the car started speeding I turned to the driver who I could see was a man maybe in his 40s.

"Can you slow it down a little?" I asked politely but there was no response as the speed only increased. "I said slow it down a little," I repeated, this time with a yell but this man did not pay me any attention. My heart hammered in my chest as it dawned on me that I was being kidnapped, hell no! No way this would happen at a crucial time like this I lunged for the driver by his neck choking him severely which caused the car to malfunction and drive crazily on the road, he struggled to break my hold while still keeping his hands on the steering but I didn't bother, rather than let him take me to wherever it is he wanted to, we'd both die together.

My grip on his neck tightened as a sudden rush of energy flooded me, and soon he slumped to the seat unconscious. Just as I looked up I saw a truck approaching at full speed, panicked. I immediately grabbed the steering wheel and docked, causing the car to crash into a sign on the road. My head banged on the steering and then the car came to a stop, I was relieved. Kicking the door open I stepped out, fumes were coming out of the car while the driver remained unconscious.

I flipped out my phone from behind and started calling for the police. The sound of a phone ringing caught me off guard and I realized it was coming from the driver, I searched his pockets in a hurry and flung out a three-camera iPhone with an unknown number laid on the screen I immediately swiped on accept, and brought the phone to my ear but there was no there's no voice no one said a word like they were waiting for me to speak first and when I said nothing the line went dead.

I stared at the phone, baffled that this must be the mastermind, I immediately copied the number on my phone, and it didn't take long for the police to arrive at the scene. Mr kidnapper woke up later and when he did he found himself surrounded by the police.

We were both taken to the station where I was made to write a statement and he was put behind bars. I spared him a look as I watched him sit back in the cell.

"Who sent you?" I asked but he wouldn't say a word of course I know how this usually went other than giving out information he would rather die. "All right then." I said, "Have fun rotting in jail." I left the station and decided to go home this time rather than see Jordyn, I needed to be on my own, to breathe, so many crazy events have happened in my life in the space of how many weeks? It was all coming at me too fast.

I was fast asleep when my phone rang waking me up.

"Aurora." Said a voice I could recognize as Johanna's. I sat up expectant, there could only be one reason why she was calling me.

"Have you spoken to your father?" I asked impatiently, "When shall we be meeting?"

"You know I'm starting to think you have another motive for wanting to meet my father he is the vice president after all," Johanna said with pride. "But I must warn you not to play any funny tricks, you must know the danger that comes with dealing with people in power."

"Alright, I agree." So long as the evil man can be brought down I will agree to anything.

"Good, I will send you an address, don't be late tomorrow." And with that, the line went dead.

I woke up early that morning and prepared in advance, eager to meet the vice president and state my troubles the meeting place was the same restaurant I had run into she and Pierce. I walked to the door and the security guard was the same guy from that day, the one who kicked me and Jordyn out rudely.

As I approached I could tell he was about to ask me the same stupid question again but Johanna came from behind, "It's okay we're together." She hissed trailing forward and I followed behind her.

"Good day, sir." I bowed on getting to the table where a man I could recognize as the vice president sat, he spared me a glance and then smiled he didn't appear hostile.

"Nice to finally meet you Aurora I've heard a lot about you." He said in response to my greeting and I took a seat, "the pleasure is all mine."

"Now, tell me just who it was that brought harm to my precious daughter." He looked at Johanna for a brief moment and I could see the rising anger in his eyes and I loved it because that meant one thing, that bastard was going down.

"Dante," I said and I saw his eyes widen in shock and he soon appeared deep in thought, I turned to Johanna and she seemed just as confused.

He suddenly rose to his feet with a nervous smile, "I'm afraid I have something to do Aurora I will get back to you shortly maybe later." He left the restaurant shortly leaving me there with Johanna to wonder what went wrong. My palms shot up my face in defeat, if even the vice president cannot stand up to Dante then just who will be able to put this monster behind bars?

"Listen," Johanna said, gaining my attention, "I don't know why my father reacted that way but rest assured if Dante cannot be apprehended by the police or anyone for that matter I will do things my way." She swore.

The fierce look in her eyes gave me a bad feeling and I couldn't stop myself from saying, "I don't support murder, Johanna." Because it looked like she was about to kill.

She laughed, "And you think death is the only way to make one pay, oh, how naive you are Aurora." Rising to her feet she picked her purse off the table and gave me a one-sided look, "I will not be sharing my plans with you," she said, "you will be nothing but a drag but fear not because that monster will pay for what he has done." With that said she walked away.

The harsh ringing of my phone stole my attention and I brought it to my ears.

"Hello, Miss Aurora." Spoke a masculine voice, "My name is Carl and I'm calling from the police station, I want to inform you that the mastermind behind your attempted kidnap yesterday has been apprehended, you will need to come to the station to find out who they are."
