Chapter 34 - Reckoning

Chapter Twenty-Nine: Reckoning

With this, I might consider relinquishing the title of guardian... Wolford's lips curved into a slight smile as he spoke, his voice carrying a hint of both freedom and eccentricity. Hahaha... This could inspire me to pursue the life I've always wanted. He let out a hearty laugh, the sound reverberating through the room.

The room he found himself in was a bit messy, mirroring the disarray of his thoughts. He couldn't help but let out a few chuckles, finding the whole situation incredibly absurd.

Even though I had the chance to rest a lot in Eldoria, I still believe that Earth is the most ideal place for relaxation. Wolford chuckled softly, a satisfied smile playing on his lips. Earth had always held a special place in their heart, a world of beauty and familiarity that provided a much-needed break from the responsibilities of their role as a guardian.

He quickly scanned the room, noticing the ordinary features—a slightly worn couch, a cluttered coffee table with magazines, and a window allowing a soft glow of sunlight to enter. It felt like he had returned to a familiar life he had once experienced.

I plan to relax and take it easy, maybe catch up on some sleep. Wolford muttered to himself, his voice filled with determination. The concept of a relaxed lifestyle, liberated from the burdens that had shaped his life, was curiously appealing. He had faced numerous battles, defended countless worlds, and faithfully fulfilled his duty as a guardian for centuries. Now, he yearned for the simplicity of a normal life.

This body might have been engaged in that activity, though... He chuckled at the thought, amused by the irony that his new car seemed to perfectly represent his desired lifestyle even before he had gotten it. Well... I think I'll get some rest and consider our options when I wake up...

With those words, he sank into the couch, feeling the weight of exhaustion take hold. He felt mentally exhausted after the intense fight against the Ascendants, a battle that had pushed him to his limits. He had lost track of time during that conflict, but he knew it had been a challenging and time-consuming ordeal.

As he closed his eyes, Wolford welcomed the comforting pull of sleep, fully embracing his desire to live a simple life, unburdened by cosmic responsibilities and prestigious titles. It turned out to be a journey filled with self-reflection and relaxation, a journey that had started in the most surprising manner.

To be continued...

In this chapter, we explore Wolford's initial responses to his unexpected circumstances, his longing for a more uncomplicated existence on Earth, and the fatigue that remains from his intense confrontation with the Ascendants.
