Chereads / Smiling Devil / Chapter 36 - Reunion

Chapter 36 - Reunion

"A Mysterious Reunion" is the chapter's title.

Wolford roused himself from his nap with a drowsy yawn following what appeared to be an interminable time of rest. As he took in his surroundings, his eyes, which were still blurry from sleep, blinked slowly and idly. It was a room that seemed oddly familiar to him, but he couldn't quite put his finger on where he had been before.

After forcing himself to sit up, he gave himself a lengthy and pleasurable stretch. His limbs groaned in protest as though they hadn't been used in decades. The feeling was odd at the same time as it was reassuring.

"What should I do now?" he pondered as his mind continued to wander through the cloud of the residual exhaustion it was experiencing. After his slumber, he didn't have anything specific planned, but his curiosity was pulling at him. It seemed possible that the time had come to investigate this location further.

Suddenly, just as he was considering what action to take next, his phone began to emit a series of harsh notifications. Wolford was momentarily confused by the clattering gadget in his palm and blinked at the device he was holding. It took him a few moments to recall what it was called, a relic from his distant memories of Earth's civilization that he had long since forgotten.

The screen was suddenly inundated with five messages from unknown senders. As he tapped on the messages, an overwhelming feeling of inquisitiveness came over him; nevertheless, what he saw left him perplexed. It appeared that each message was centered on the same question: why hadn't he turned up for school?

You might ask, "School?" Wolford mumbled something while seeming confused. He took a quick glimpse at his clothes, which were very different from what he typically wore. The understanding dawned on him: this body had not yet graduated from school.

When he looked at his image in the mirror, he saw a face that seemed vaguely familiar, as if it were a visage from a long-ago recollection. While he was thinking about the circumstance, a smirk slowly crept across his lips.

He laughed to himself, thinking, "Hehehe, this could turn out to be interesting." It had been centuries since he had been in a classroom, and the idea of going back to learn something new piqued his interest. But before that, he made the decision to dress himself in something more appropriate. The clothes he was wearing at the time were disheveled and unkempt, which was in direct opposition to the impression he wanted to give off.

Wolford couldn't escape the sensation that this unexpected turn of fate was about to lead him on a new and exciting adventure as he reached for a change of clothing. He was certain that this would be the case.

As already said...
