From Alex's POV:
Bruno glared at me for a while before walking close to me. He pulled the chair and sat close to me. "Can we talk like friends now?" he asked, and I nodded. After all, we have been friends since childhood, but when it comes to business, we learned to be professionals.
"If you want to win over her heart, then listen to me," he said, and it sounded funny.
"So are you going to give me a lecture about relationships?"
"Of course, I know a lot about relationships," he said, and I extended my hands, signaling that he should hold on. Then I chuckled.
"I should take relationship advice from you. Me," I asked in disbelief, and he pouted before taking out his phone from his suit pocket.
Then he played a voice record.
" Well, since you bought me something this nice, I will tell you what your boss can use to win over my friend's heart first. She loves her father a lot, so he should please her father.
Then he stopped the recording, and I glared at him, confused. It was obvious that it was Natalie's voice, and she must know Olivia well.
"Play it," I ordered and he shook his head before keeping the phone in his pocket.
I gave him a menacing glare. Was he trying to get on my nerves? Then he retracted the phone and smiled at me. "I will play it now," he said before pressing the red play button.
" Also, my friend has been through a lot... She thinks she loves Caleb, but she doesn't; she only admires the fact that he is there with her. If only her cat was still alive, then she would have had someone to always gossip with (giggles), and yes,
The recording kept going for two minutes before Bruno quickly stopped it. "The other part isn't related to you," he said, and I understood that he must have flirted with her; he was such a playboy.
Unlike other girls, Olivia loved simple and rare stuff. I was going to make her love me and accept me.
Bruno received a message on his phone; he read it before glancing at me. "Your father is in the country," he said, and I didn't react. I had disowned him as my father since the day he married another woman just months after my mom's death, and to think he married someone younger than me
"Arrange a meeting with Caleb now," I said and he glared at me, surprised.
"I thought you would change your mind after this conversation; you should win over him fairly," he said, and I stared around to see if there was a sharp object to shoot him with as if he read my mind. He stood up and walked to the door.
"I will do that now," he said and left.
**
I received a text message from Bruno saying that Caleb was waiting for me at the parking lot, so I found my way to the parking lot.
When I arrived there, Bruno stood there with the Caleb guy. He looked simple, and from his gaze, it was obvious that he was not as kind and innocent as Olivia thought.
"Mr. Bennett.." Caleb said, then he extended his hand forward for a handshake.
"We weren't properly introduced, Caleb Thompson, a senior marketer," he said with an excited tone, I wondered why he was so happy, and I didn't ask about his career. It's not like I was interested.
"Do you know adultery is a crime in New York?" I asked, and he glared at me confused, then his gaze shifted to Bruno, who also didn't give him an easy look.
"I don't…."
"She is my woman; don't approach her again." I butted in and checked my time. The only reason I wanted to meet with him was to personally tell him to stay away from Olivia. Now that I have done that, I can return to work.
I turned to leave when he yelled from behind, "Your woman? Are you sorry for forcefully marrying my fiance?"
"No, I am not," I replied honestly, and he clenched his fist.
"So you called me here to warn me? That's it?" He asked, and I was a little confused. What else was I to do with him? Kill him.
Then he sighed heavily before his face relaxed. "Olivia loves me a lot, but I respect the fact that she is no longer mine. We are both businessmen; we could reach an understanding," he said, and I could make out the sense in his words.
He wanted me to pay him off. Such a low life. But that's what I never do; I will never give money to lazy morons like him who don't deserve it.
"Too bad I didn't ask you to stay away from her; I warned you... and we are both businessmen. We should know when there is a clean deal," I stated and he scoffed loudly.
"Don't be stingy, Mr. Bennett; all I need is a position in your company," he said almost in a pleading tone.
Bruno chuckled. His request was funny indeed, and was I to bargain my wife with someone?
I shook my head and turned to leave. "I watched the news; tomorrow is Bennett Enterprise's anniversary," he yelled again. I frowned and stared at him. How could Olivia love such a nuance?
"And so?" Bruno asked this time around.
"It's my birthday as well. I am sure you want Olivia to attend the anniversary, but she won't if I tell her to celebrate with me," he said proudly, and I gritted my teeth when I felt there was a hint of truth in what he said.
But Olivia already agreed to come to the anniversary with me. Well, she didn't accept, but she is getting prepared for it.
"Leave," I said angrily.
"If she comes to me tomorrow, then I won't let her leave like a saint," he scolded, and I nodded at Bruno, who understood what I meant. He walked closer to Caleb and hit him hard in the stomach.
"Ahh," he groaned in pain as he tried to push Bruno away, but with a quick move, Bruno kicked his legs, and he kneeled on one leg.
"If you approach my wife again, then you won't have the guts to explain your story to anyone," I warned before finally leaving. Was he stupid?
