Chapter 26 - Did You Just Roll Your Eyes At Me?

Olivia's POV:

Then I noticed that I had overreacted. I cleared my throat and stared at Mr. Bennett and Bruno. Mr. Bennett walked towards me.

"Give the cat to Bruno; let's go somewhere," he said, and I frowned. i didnt want to detach myself from the cat. The cat looked at me, and I knew it didn't want me to leave.

"Uhm, where are we going?" I asked, but he didn't answer; instead, he signaled Bruno, who walked forward and took the cat from me.

"I will help you feed it," he said, and I nodded. Mr. Bennett held my hand, and I tried retracting it, but I couldn't. We walked to his car, and he opened the door for me. I had a frown as I walked in, and he drove away.

"Mr. Bennett, where are we going?" I asked again, and he glanced at me before focusing his gaze on the road.

He didn't reply, and I rolled my eyes before looking outside. "Did you just roll your eyes at me?" he asked with a hoarse voice, and I got nervous. Why can't I stop myself from rolling my eyes? And how did he take note of that?

"Uhm… Then are you angry at me?" I asked curiously: If he gets angry, then I won't have to attend the event.

"Do you remember what happened last night?" He asked, and I blinked my eyes. Did something happen last night?

Oh no, I touched my body before staring at him, embarrassed. If it can't be that, then what happened last night?

"You don't remember?" he asked. I thought for a while, trying to gather my thoughts, and then my eyes widened in shock when I remembered a short clip.

I vomited on Mr. Bennett. "I am not talking about how you ruined my clothes," he sneered, and I sighed in relief, but wait... What else did I do?

"I don't remember anything else," I said sadly, and he kept silent. Minutes later, we arrived in front of Bennett Enterprise. Why was he bringing me to his company?

"Follow me," he ordered as we both got into the presidential elevator. We arrived at the first floor and walked into his office. I observed around and noticed it was different this time around.

On the right was an office table and chair; it had a photocopying and printing machine. Why did he put this here?

"You said you hated me because I took the one thing you loved the most, work, so I am hiring you," he explained, and I couldn't believe it.

Did I say that to him? But it was true. I loved being a secretary, but he took that away from me, and I had difficulties getting a job at Leaders Light, but now I have lost it.

"Are you happy now?" he asked, and I scoffed.

"This isn't a job; I didnt even apply for it," I said and he nodded.

"Then you can write your application letter, and my team will approve it," he replied.

"I won't feel comfortable working for you and to think that I didn't get the job because of my capabilities; I want to be independent. Find my own job and work like every other person," I explained and he gazed at me with a hint of confusion.

"Mr. Bennett, I heard your mother built this enterprise... So why don't you approve of me working?" I got curious; instead, he should be supporting working women.

"Okay, fine, I will let you get a job by yourself and live the life you want," he said, and my eyes brightened. A part of me felt alive again.

"But you have to attend the event till the end," he added, and I nodded happily. Then I thought of Caleb. He was ill, and I needed to see him, or else my conscience wouldn't let me be at ease.

But if I get the opportunity to work, then I will have plenty of opportunity to go meet him.

"You also cant work in Leaders Light" he said strictly and i nodded, i was fired from there because of him. Now I am not sure if I can get a job at a big enterprise.

"One last thing," he said, walking closer to me. "You can't flirt with other guys," he said, and I nodded.

"Thanks, Mr. Bennett," I said and he examined me, surprised.

"I still hate you, but you got me a cat... That's the most beautiful gift I ever received," I explained, He shouldn't misunderstand my appreciative tone for a friendly one.

"You are my wife; I will give you everything. You just need to ask," he said, and I had a weird feeling.

"Then let…"

"I will give you everything, except letting you go," he butted in, and I scoffed.

I was so excited about finding a job. I will start job hunting tomorrow, and in the meantime, I can go back home and check for available jobs online.

"Are we leaving now?" I asked, and he shook his head in denial.

"Bruno isn't here, and I have a meeting in two minutes... Sit there and fill in for him," he said, and I frowned What did he mean by fill in for him?

"Mr. Bennett, I will only be a nuissance... and it must be an important meeting," I said, It was still early before the event, so I could go see Caleb while he attends his meeting.

"Sit there," he pointed at the office table and chair, which were nicely arranged at the right corner. I sighed and walked towards them. Why did it feel like he was trying to keep me by his side?

At exactly two minutes later, there was a knock from the door as two people walked in. They looked like foreigners—a middle-aged man who was probably in his fifties and a young lady in her twenties.

She was beautiful and had fair skin; her smile was beautiful. "Greetings, Mr. Bennett," the man said. Mr. Bennett only nodded as he checked some files on his desk.

"Here is my youngest daughter, Chloe," he introduced, and the girl smiled before extending her hand for a handshake. Mr. Bennett scanned her hand for a while before his gaze landed on me, and I quickly looked away.
