Chapter 29 - Chapter 29 -- Welcome to Willow

The next morning, Zane woke up with a headache. 'Never thought i would feel a hangover again', he thought as he used his mana to cure it.

Zane then thought about the events of last night and was very disappointed in himself. He couldn't even remember what happened after they ate the deer.

Judging by his hangover he deduced that he and Wyatt had drunk more alcohol. The reason Zane was disappointed was the he still saw Wyatt as an enemy, and he had gotten drunk and passed out in front of him!.

'I can't ever let my guard down again' he thought.

"Ohhh man, what a night" Wyatt yawned.

"We better head to the city" Zane announced.

"I had forgotten about this" Wyatt pointed at the carriage, which was still missing a side "So we are just going to leave it here?" he asked.

"No i can repair it, kind of" Zane said as he took out some rope from his ring. He then proceeded to put together the broken pieces of the wall before crudely tying it to the carriage.

The carriage looked very funny but it could at least reach the city. Then they could pay someone to really fix it.

"Hey i forgot to ask yesterday, how where you able to store your weapons when you clearly don't have a storage ring" Chris asked.

'Can i tell him?' Zane thought to himself.

The system said, or was it Aurora, Zane wasn't sure.

"I have a secret dimension which is capable of storing any non living object" Zane said with a smirk.

Of course Wyatt was shocked speechless. Only Supreme mages who can use space manipulation mana could do something similar.

Meanwhile a certain celestial's eye was twitching in anger

"By the way what is your real name" Zane asked as he drove them to the city. He had begged Wyatt to allow him to be in the driver's seat of the carriage.

"It's Chris" Wyatt, i mean Chris chuckled. He was a little bit embarrassed about how they had treated Zane before, but everytime he tried to apologize, Zane would just shrug it off.

As the duo where about 300 meters from the city gate Zane saw a party of about 15 hunters exit the city. It seemed they where headed to the forest or the beast zone on the other side.

Zane was sure the group consisted of 15 because he could see their mana cores. He saw a group of Fifteen lights floating in the air.

"They are hunters right ?" Zane confirmed with Wya---Chris.

"Yes they are, but how can you see them?. I am pretty sure they are way out of your range" Chris asked.

"I can see their mana cores" Zane nonchalantly replied.

Chris wasn't even surprised at this point, Zane's extraordinary abilities just kept on coming. He even wished that he was born blind, maybe he could also have these powers.

"Have you ever encountered a mana beast?" Chris asked.

"No why you askin' ?"

"You can see mana cores because they are made of compressed mana right?" Zane nodded" Well as for mana beasts, their whole bodies are filled with mana so maybe you can see them fully" Chris explained.

"But mana beasts also have mana cores. What makes you think that i will see their bodies instead of the core?" Zane asked.

"That's because the body contains more mana than the core. In the case of mana beasts that is" Chris said.

Zane was really surprised. If the bodies of mana beasts had more mana than the cores, shouldn't people try to absorb that mana instead?.

"A lot of great mages have tried to extract mana from the bodies of mana beasts, however as soon as the beast dies the mana is dispersed into the air. They even tried extracting the mana while the beast is alive but failed, it also doesn't help that beast meat is highly toxic"

Zane nodded his head in thought. If that was the case, couldn't he use his mana gathering skill on the beasts first then kill them and get the core after ?.

That way he would gain the mana from the mana beast and the core at the same time. However he first needed to find a mana beast. He also couldn't forget that at the moment, even the weakest beast could kill him with a single swipe of its claw.

A few minutes later and the duo had met the group of hunters.

"Hey Chris !" A voice said.

Zane recognized this voice very well. It was the same voice as one of the three hunters who had come into the forest that other time.

"Hey David, how's it going" Chris said.

That was the confirmation Zane needed. One of the hunters from the forest was also named David.

"It's all good here, what the hell happened to your carriage" David asked.

Chris chuckled a little "Oh we were attacked by a bear nothing serious" he shrugged his shoulders.

"Ohh my god was anyone hurt" asked a female voice, worried.

"No we are fine Clara thanks for worrying about me" Chris smirked.

'It's either they know each other on a personal level or Chris is very brave' Zane thought.

"How did you escape?" David questioned.

"Funny story actually, We knew we couldn't outrun the bear so we just hid behind the carriage. Suddenly we heard a loud sound and the carriage shook violently."

"We then peeked from around the back of it and saw a mysterious mage fighting against the bear. He was really strong and didn't even use any spells. I guessed that the person was a high mage. Anyway he then shouted at us to run away and we didn't hesitate to jump into the carriage and escape." Zane was really impressed at how good Chris was at lying.

"When did this happen?" David asked. He believed Chris because he had no reason to lie to him, and it was the only reasonable explanation.

"About 6 hours ago" Chris said. David nodded as he ruled out the chance that this was the same bear they had found dead in the forest.

"Well it's good no one got hurt. Anyway we gotta go we are on our way to a hunt right now. Why don't we meet up this evening at the Dancing Rum so we can catch up and maybe you can introduce me to your friend" David smiled as he and the rest of the group left.

"Dancing Rum?" Zane expressed his confusion.

"Ohh it's one of the many taverns in Willow city. Apparently their rum is guaranteed to make anyone dance" Chris laughed.

As they got closer to the wall, Zane started hearing the noise of the city once more. He then sat down as he concentrated on filtering out some useless sounds. His hearing was on another level and living alone in silence for three years made him that much more sensitive to loud sounds.

"Zane, i welcome you to Willow city" Chris announced.
