Martin found himself almost running out of school the moment he heard the ringing of the last bell.
He had finally completed his rune symbol and he could now use magic. He was so excited.
The last line of the rune symbol had easily obeyed him unlike the others, almost two weeks after he awakened his runes, he could now use magic
Anyone who heard of these feats would be shocked beyond understanding, because normally it would take the average human to possess the usage of magic in less than three months after gaining their runes.
The exceptionally talented ones took at most a month but Martin had completed this feat in two weeks.
There had to be some sort of a catch. He didn't know but he didn't trust such rise in strength. Was he because he was not of this world? Was it due to his grandfather's locket?
As he ran home with his bag slinged over his shoulder, he couldn't help but look forward to practicing his wind element.
He could finally try and create a wind blade.
An attack he had dreamt of doing ever since he had awoken the wind rune.
If he could learn the wind blades style, he would move over to lighting up the fire rune, or maybe the lightning rune.
He had only seen how lightning looked like in the illustrations that were drawn in the books he was reading and he was looking forward to performing the first spell of that rune–Thunderbolt.
Martin arrived home and he was surprised to see the Family Head at his door along with some other men.
As he looked at their clothes, he knew they were also from the family.
"How many I help you?" Martin said, his voice dropping to a deathly tone. He hated the family head because of the way Axton and his parents had been treated by him.
"Hello orphan." The family head stressed the last word as his eyes ran through Martin's face, he wanted the boy dead so he could finally gain control of what laid underneath the house.
"I have been told that your father had not completed the payment of this property before he died, isn't that right Mr Hersun?"
The Family Head had a wide smile on his face as he spoke, and he turned to face a man who immediately walked out from behind the other family members.
This man was Hersun and his back was badly bent and he had a few strands of hair left on his head.
The man stammered for a while before he could actually speak up.
" Yes, Mr Zavier had begged me to lease the property to him for a few years and a certain price."
The man said with a fake smile plastered on his face.
Martin could literally feel his blood boil in rage but he had to keep his calm.
He couldn't start a fight here not when he didn't know the mage level of any of them present.
He had to be calm and calculating.
He knew everything that was happening right now was all a scam, Axton had been living in this once ever since he knew how to walk which was sixteen years ago.
Why had this so-called land owner not arrived to claim his money since then?
The Family Head was behind all of this ploy.
"How much do I need to pay in order to continue living in this place?"
Martin gritted his teeth as he spoke. This so called Family head had gone too far but there was nothing he could do.
He had no one to back him up, or stand up for him. He was alone in this world and he had to carrying his burden by himself but he didn't mind.
The bald old man was about speak when he was suddenly interrupted by the family head.
"Two gold loins and you get to live here for another year." The Family head had a wide smile on his face.
He knew there was no way an orphan kid would be able to afford a gold loin, not to talk of two, and this was his only opportunity he had to get back his property.
He didn't really care if the Axton kid died on the street.
It was more like a good way of getting rid of useless products, if only he could recycle the boy but the boy strength amounted to nothing and he couldn't even awaken a rune.
However, the family head was shocked when he saw Martin dip his hand onto his pocket, flicked his finger and two gold loins landed on the floor, before rolling to stop at the feet of the Family Head who was shocked as he stared with wide eyes.
"There's your money and I have it on record that you said I was going to live here for another year. If you try anything funny, I will not hesitate to report you."
Martin unlocked the door to his house and walked inside while angrily shutting the door on the people he had already tagged trespassers.
Anger moved through his veins as he remembered what had just transpired, he couldn't believe the Family Head would stoop as low as bribing that man to make false claims.
He had been duped of two gold loins, what would have happened if it was Axton here instead of him? The boy would have been quickly thrown out of his house without a second thought.
It was already getting too much. He needed to find out why the Family Head was so interested in taking this particular house and what was the treasure hidden?
Martin understood that a year wouldn't be enough for him to live here.
He had found out that it seemed like times moved twice as fast as the time in his previous, it was probably due to cultivation.
Most people spend their time cultivating and forget to realize how long they had been in isolation, and by the time they do, a year or two would have passed by.
It was seven pm already and Martin was sitting down to a well cooked meal.
He was really thankful for the innate skill of cooking that Axton possessed. It had come in handy a lot of times.
After eating, Martin immediately sat down on the floor and went into a comprehensive state.
He needed to understand the wind element before he could use them.
His hand stretched out with his palms wide open as he began to comprehend the wind element and it's function.
One is needed to understand every constituents of the air molecules surrounding them.
How they were shaped, and how they reacted to different changes in temperature around them.
Martin had to understand everything.
Soon enough, he felt a movement in the middle of his palm, it started slowly at first then it started to move first.
Martin opened his eyes and saw that he had created a small whirlwind in the middle of his hands.
Focusing his thoughts, he seperated the air molecules and finally, he was able to shape them into blades.
_Yes, I did it. Hahaha_
_This orphan can now play with magic!_
Martin felt so glad and he wanted to test the strength of his blades.
His rune glowed light yellow and with a chant of the spell, Martin fired a wind blades to the wall of his house and it moved with high precision, cutting through the very blocks of the house before dissipating into thin air.
Martin moved closer and his eyes widened when he saw that the cut he had made was at least three inches deep into the wall and be couldn't stop the smile that appeared on his face.
His wind blades was strong. Martin moved backwards and tried to fire another wind blade again, but he felt that something was different and it wasn't in a good way.
The second wind blade that was fired also made a cut in the wall and when Martin moved closer, he realized that this cut was just an inch deep and it wasn't as strong as the first one or as fast as the first one.
Martin decided to try again but the moment he had formed the third wind blades, it moved in the air before dissipating into air without even touching its target.
Martin sighed.
His mana pool was too little to create three strong mana blades, he had only successfully created one that he was happy with.
Now he just had to find what to do in order to increase his mana pool.
He could get a cultivation room but it was way to expensive to stock up on the mana beast gemstones which meant he would go up against King level Beasts himself and he wasn't that strong yet.
Wait? why did that man want this place so much?
It was possible that there could be something hidden in this house, was it worth more than a cultivation room?
Martin couldn't help but think about the Family head's constant disturbance.
There had to be something of high importance in this place but how was he going to find it?
_______
Meanwhile in a small room filled with different varieties of beast gemstones and they were scattered across the corner of the room.
A girl sat cross-legged and faced a huge gem that was pure red in colour.
Tana was about to break through to the Elemental Apprentice level, she had thought she would take more time but after her short conversation with Axton, she realized that her cultivation level was increasing at a steady pace and she was breaking through before her eighteenth birthday.
She couldn't help but think that spending time with Axton was just what she needed to increase her strength but her conscience bit at her, and she knew she was being selfish.
Suddenly after spending some time absorbing the fire element, she had already prepared the foundation for her fire domain.
She would become an Apprentice by morning and she would surprised everyone that waited at the door for her.
Being an Apprentice at seventeen was no small feat.
