Sheila held out the beast stone in her hand as she explained to the students.
"In our former class, I explained all about mana detection, and I'm sure you all understand the process. I would absorb the mana from this gem and release it, and I would show you all how to absorb Mana from your surroundings." Sheila said and she proceeded to absorb the mana from the gem.
"Mana absorption is not an easy task, as you need to be able to remain in your cultivation state in many hours and I understand that very few of us can maintain that state for even two hours." Sheila's eyes scanned through the class and she kept on absorbing mana from the gem.
Martin stared at the gem and realized that the glow it previously had was dimming. From what he had read, in order to be able to absorb mana stored in a beast stone, the user had to remain in their cultivation state.
His eyes widened in amazement, when he realized that this teacher of his was doing a hard job, she had one foot in her cultivation state, and she had one out in trying to explain everything to them.
He marveled, what she was doing couldn't not even be achieved by most top professors, and the books had written that for anything related to the cultivation of magic to work, one must fully remain in a state of total concentration.
"Absorption takes place with the opening of your energy passage, your meridians, and materializing your will to order the mana to go into you. It's all about the depth of your creativity. Anything is possible with Magic, and willpower."
Sheila looked at her students, she realized that a lot of them had a confused look on their face and she had expected it.
Absorbing mana from nature was one of the hardest things to do for a mage, this was why human hunted beasts for their gems as these beasts could easily absorb mana and store it in their beast core.
Well, she never expected everyone to grab the techniques, she was only doing it for one person and hoped that he would at least be able to pull through.
"Mana absorption is very tricky, and for you to get through it, you need a lot of practice and practice. Mental power is the key to understanding the overall ideology." Sheila explained.
Martin looked at the gem in her hand, the light in it had almost vanished.
This mana absorption that Sheila was talking about didn't seem like much of a big deal to him. He just needed to show the mana particles who was boss.
"I have absorbed the mana in this beast stone. I would disperse it now and I want all of you to concentrate and detect the mana flow. If you are able to do this, bring it to my attention and I would come help you to absorb a little bit of mana, and you can carry on with the rest by yourself."
Shiela said and she released the mana she had gotten from the gem into the atmosphere. Seeing her action, every of the students sat in a cross-legged position and started to detect the amount of mana in their environment.
Martin didn't do anything basically, he had already learnt how to detect mana, and he didn't want to demean the moral of these students even if he felt better than most of them, neither did he want to scare his teacher, so he just had to wait and see what she was going to do to the students.
"Just raise up your hands, and I would move over to your side to assist you." Sheila said watching the students intensely.
Martin could already picture the mana in the environment as quickly as possible but he wanted to watch what the teacher would do to one of the students before seeking out her help.
He didn't want her to sense that he had more than one rune, it would immediately cause an uproar, or she could very much expose his secret.
Even if Sheila looked like the nicest person he could find, he was never going to take chances. Even the prettiest flower had the deadliest poison.
After few moments of waiting, Martin saw that none of these students had even detected the man yet, why was it taking them so long? It was easy to do.
Martin didn't know that the locket he had brought from his other world had given him a huge affinity to mana, and this was why he was able to quickly visualize the flow of man in his surrounding
It was normally not an easy task to do unless a person had a very high level of concentration.
If not, it could take a lot of practice for them to actually attain such profane cultivation.
I'd have to just be the first test subject.
Martin immediately started his own practice and soon enough, he had seen the dense lines of mana hovering around him. His right hand went home causing Sheila's face to brighten in delight as she rushed to see him.
"Can you see the mana flow? Give me a nod if you mean yes and a shake if you mean no."
Martin nodded his head, bringing a sense of accomplishment upon his teacher who had expected that he would be the first.
"Good, now I want to focus directly on one of the lines, and imagine you are calling it and when it answers to your call, I want you to draw it to yourself."
Martin immediately did what she had asked of him, he decided to start with a thin line and then he imagined that there was a mind link between the mana flow and his will, and he started to command them to follow his plan.
After an hour, Martin had made no effort, and there were thick beads of sweat lined across his forehead.
"Stupid mana flow disobeying me. Come to me now. I command you!" Martin concentrated as hard as he could, yet, no matter how hard he tried, he just wasn't able to direct the mana into his body and he didn't know why.
The mana detection was easy as pie, it was only the absorption that brought him some kind of headache and he wasn't pleased about it.
Until he finally opened his eyes, and realized that the practice room was now empty and it was only Sheila that sat behind a huge desk as she stared at him.
"I did for once think that maybe, just maybe, you would be finally able to absorb the energy. It seemed like I was wrong, I am sorry." Sheila had moved from her desk to come give him a lift up from the floor.
"It's not your fault teacher. I just need to practice harder and I would." Martin bowed in front of her as a way of appreciation.
He had been finding ways to improve his mana supply and she had helped him out. What she had just taught him about Mana detection and Absorption would go a long way in finding out how he was capable of growing in just a month.
Sheila bade him goodbye after providing herself available for any kind of questions he had.
Martin sighed; it was finally time for him to go home. He had been in that practical room longer than his thought and his concentration level was unbreakable. So, what had gone wrong during his absorption?
Martin only saw a few students by the side, most of the other students had returned home, while he was going to find a way to master absorbing mana from nature.
