Martin realized that he couldn't find any book on mana detection and absorption and when he had gone to ask the librarian about their location, she had told him that they weren't accessible for his level. It was only meant for the A-grade students.
Martin could only marvel, his teacher had been teaching them courses that was taught to only A-students he didn't know how to thank his stars for such kind of blessing. Miss Sheila wasn't like other teachers; she treasured them and saw their potentials.
What more could he ask for? Little did Martin know that he was the reason why Sheila had decided to take such a risk with his class.
Martin smiled widely as he left the library, he had basically read about most of the courses he was being taught. He made a mental note to return back and revise these topics all over again in time for the examination.
As he walked to the cafeteria, he had a book held under his armpit that he had just borrowed from the library. It wasn't related to his course though, he had just taken an interest in it because of its cover.
It had a dark brown cover and it was titled the Dark Alliance, the picture that was displayed on the cover was two raised up hands in red holding up what looked like a ring and it had a golden color and there was a ruby placed at the top.
Martin had wondered what it was about, so he had borrowed it, even the librarian who had never bothered about giving much of an attraction cast a suspicious glance at him, he could even recall the shock in her voice.
"You sure you want that?" The lady had worn a red gown, just like the color he liked and she looked at him with a small smile.
"Yeah, is something wrong?" Martin couldn't understand what was wrong at first, but her next statement had surprised him.
"Yes, I don't think you would want anybody seeing you with that. It doesn't have quite a good reputation." She passed the book through the scan and shot him a side glance.
"What kind of reputation then?" Martin collected the book, but he didn't want to leave so he waited a little.
"Well. The last few people that read that book suddenly stopped coming to the school." The look on her eyes felt like she was disclosing a dangerous secret.
Martin's eyes had widened. Even though he was the type to rush into danger, he had to become strong so he could finally battle such danger.
If not, he could end up on his way to the next world, which would be heaven, or most likely hell.
That was when the librarian casted a wide smile and began laughing, she thought the look on the boy's face was quite funny.
"I'm joking. The book just contains some weird bloody history. I should probably place it in a restricted area." She said, before turning her head back to the book she was reading.
Martin then relaxed, she shouldn't scare people like that, and he thought she was cute when she laughed with her dimpled cheek.
Martin smiled as he carried his lunch tray outside and to eat in the school garden just so he could have some peace. The food here wasn't as great as Axton's cooking but it was manageable to eat, at least it could be digested, that was the only upside if he thought about it.
Martin had a rare talent, one that he had brought from his former world. He could easily zone out of a situation. A lot of people desired such talent but they obviously had skill issues.
This ability had helped Martin a lot in his class especially if it was a teacher that he never liked like the mathematics teacher, Mr. Conroy. He also thought the man had the right name for an NPC, it could also be the reason he stuck to Mathematics.
So yes, Martin had a godly talent, as he thought. He was able to instantly switch off his brain and not allow it to function.
He took a bite of his lunch, it was not a wise choice, and it explained why most people preferred to bring their own lunch.
Martin dropped his food and closed his eyes. Anyone who saw him would think that the boy was asleep as he rested on the tree.
Martin had already entered his cultivation state, he was trying to at least grasp what Sheila had thought before the time for the next class arrived.
He immediately tried to picture what his environment currently looked like their teacher had told them.
Martin tried picturing the mana lines he had seen Sheila show them during the class, then he opened his eyes and he saw nothing.
"Where are they?" Martin didn't want to give up, so he strained his eyes trying to see if he could at least spot something with the same like resemblance.
At that moment, he started to see transparent looking lines start to form in front of him, at first it looked faint but soon they started to look real.
Martin could see them finally and it was thicker than the ones he had seen in class.
"I think it had to be because that was Sheila's mana and not the natural one." Martin said with his hand on his chin, he stood up, kicking away his half-finished food.
Ignoring the mess he made, he walked forward and he realized that there were some areas where the mana flow was slim, while some other places had lines that were very thick.
Martin tried to see if he could find more dense mana if he followed the direction of the thick mana lines.
Suddenly, some guys came to stand in front of him, blocking his path.
"Are you Axton? I am…" The boy that spoke had an orange shade of hair but before he could continue, Martin had walked around him, leaving the boy dumbstruck while the other boys with him could only stare in embarrassment.
They couldn't believe that someone had dared to ignore their leader in such manner, it was unheard of.
Martin couldn't two f**ks about them or their reactions. They had almost made him lose his trail. He couldn't understand why such dense mana was leading to the back of the school. He also wanted to absorb such mana as it would help him increase his skills much faster.
"If the A-grade students had learnt this Mana absorption skill, why weren't they rushing to harness such dense mana.?"
Coincidentally, the bell for the next class rang, jolting Martin out of concentration, and at the same time sent a wave of pain through his head.
He had been concentrating too hard so as not to lose his focus.
He pushed through the pain, turned around and rushed into class.
The orange-haired boy could only stare as Axton's figure rushed past him.
"Henley Boss, isn't that the guy we were supposed to talk to? Why didn't you stop him?"
Henley was about to say something.
Why were the people that hanged around him always foolish?
Didn't the boy see the speed that Axton guy had used to run past him? If Henley had even tried to stop him, he would have been bulldozed into his next life.
Henley just sighed and bottled up his anger as he moved along.
He had to deliver the news to his own Boss.
Martin entered the school and realized he didn't even know where the practical room was? He had just resumed a few weeks back.
Just then, he saw Lance, so he immediately stopped the boy, and they walked to class together.
"You say you never come to class, but how do you know everywhere?" Martin asked the boy in surprise.
"I'm smart?" Lance looked at him with a questioning look.
"What a huge ego. You sure you have no problem carrying it with that small body of yours?" Martin scoffed at the boy.
"Well." Lance coughed, he realized that he was acting cocky but he didn't like the way Martin had called him out in class when he was thinking about their teacher, and it had made his crush to look at him in a strange way.
"I'm sorry Axton."
"Me too." Martin smiled at him.
"For what?" Lance asked with a raised brow.
"I don't know. I just felt a bit left out." Martin scratched the back of his head.
Lance slapped his forehead and picked up his pace, leaving Martin behind. Meanwhile, Martin had started laughing at Lance's disappearing figure.
"Cute laughter you have there." A voice sounded behind Martin, scaring the shit out of him, and causing all the traumatic scenes he had witnessed since his life journey, both old and new, immediately came back to him, causing him to jump in fear.
Sheila immediately burst into laughter upon seeing his .
"Sorry, I startled you." She said with a smile, as she walked past the boy.
"You didn't scare me. I was just practicing." Martin said in what sounded like a whisper as he walked behind her, enjoying the privileged view.
"I see… for what then?" Sheila looked at him from the corner of her eyes with a small smile, while Martin immediately brought his eyes up, and moved closer to her side, while mentally scolding himself for checking his teacher out.
"It's personal, Miss Sheila." Martin was already by her side, and his voice carried a serious tone.
"Ah." Sheila's face displayed a look of wonder after which she giggled at her student's silliness.
Martin found himself mesmerized by the way her face changed when she was laughing.
If he had been still alive in his previous life, he would have bedded her right there and then, but she would not be his teacher and he would be rich enough to get a chance, after all, every girl wanted his money. Yet, something told him that this teacher of his would deny him immediately.
"I hope after this, you'd be able to find your way to class next time." Sheila looked at him with a small smile and went into the practical room.
Martin didn't dare go after her because he knew he would be tagged as number one public enemy just for following the most beloved and admired teacher into the classroom, and he would probably be hunted even in his own home.
He decided to wait outside for a few minutes, so he could at least convince everyone that it was coincidental.
Martin walked into the class after he saw that Sheila had gone into a compartment of the room to get something.
He saw that each student was sitting on a mat, and they had a few distance away from the next person.
He searched for Lance and immediately went to sit by him.
"What took you so long?" Lance asked immediately Martin took a seat.
"Personal reasons." Martin replied him with a straight face but Lance was still confused and was about to say something when Sheila immediately walked in holding a huge beast stone.
"Welcome to class Everyone. It's time to begin our lesson. Mana Absorption."
