#Chapter Thirty-Nine
"Go away, Kitty," Melanie said as she brisk walked down the pavement, away from the cafe. "I don't want to talk to you."
"I didn't know Gunner was your foster father, Melanie!" Kitty said, hot on her tail.
Melanie spun around. "Was fucking him fun, huh? I want to know."
"This is grand, Melanie," Kitty said. "You can fuck my father but I can't fuck yours? Some double standards you have there."
"Double standards?" Melanie spouted. "You know that's not what this is about, you know that!"
"It is what it is! How dare you get mad at me!"
"I think you know you fucking Gunner is more than that, Kitty," Melanie laughed.
"What are you talking about?"
"Me fucking your dad caused you to be bullied everyday, didn't it? You blame me for it."
"I don't!"
"That's why you befriended me."
"No - "
"You hated that me fucking your dad ruined your life, so you chose to get back at me by fucking mine, right? It must've been fun, huh?"
That's what she thought? "That wasn't what happened - " Kitty protested.
"Then tell me when you started fucking my dad. Before or after you found out about me?"
"It was after."
"And you still want to keep your lie up?"
"I really didn't know that he was your foster dad! There was a gag order - "
"You knew who I was, finding out who my father was is not exactly hard, especially when you've also been to my place."
"Melanie, you're not listening to me - "
"You know what? Forget it," Melanie said. She removed their friendship bracelet and threw it to the ground. "It's over."
