#Chapter Forty
Kitty sat at her desk in her classroom. Students were slowly leaving, but she was busy with her phone. She texted Melanie again, asking her to forgive her but the message failed to send. Looking at her hands, both bracelets were on either wrist and she knew that the day where Melanie wore hers again would come. She sent her another text, and that text failed to send.
Her eyes welled up. She lost Lizzy and Cole and now she was going to lose another best friend? Was there something wrong with her? The tear slid down her cheek as she considered the events that recently unfolded. She made stupid mistakes often, but no, never ever, would she ever consider Gunner a stupid mistake.
She left her table and walked out of her classroom as she wiped her eyes with the back of her sleeves. Days had already passed since her falling out with Melanie and now, she had no friends and Gunner was out of town. She walked down the hallway and her heart sank when she saw Becky on the other end of it.
Becky's face turned sour right away and she stalked towards her, with her minions close behind. Kitty dropped her bag to the ground and braced herself for another round of bullying. Becky approached her and Kitty shut her eyes tightly before opening them again, only to see that Becky had disappeared.
She spun around to find Becky heading to the cafeteria with her friends, chatting away about their recent trip to the hair and nail salon. She heaved a sigh of relief as Becky went out of sight soon after.
What just happened?
