#Chapter Thirty-Seven
The sequel to some romance book-to-movie adaptation was playing on the screen and honestly, Kitty wanted to throw the remote control at the screen. Nothing interesting was happening and every fucking scene was filled with background music that was horrible. She wanted to watch something else but she did not choose another movie because of how hot the sex scenes were, and how they were giving her ideas on how to fuck Gunner.
"I don't know what happened," Melanie said. "This first movie was so good. It was trashy, but it was watchable."
"I want to stop watching," Kitty said. "But I can't because the sex is so good."
"I know, right?"
"It's giving me a lot of good ideas."
Melanie turned to her and dropped her voice a register. "You're getting it?"
"Oh, yeah," Kitty said. "I definitely am. I'm probably getting way too much," and she laughed.
"Who's the lucky man?"
Kitty paused for a while. "Okay, you can't say this to anyone, okay? You have to keep it a secret."
"Oh, gosh, are you fucking your professor too?"
"Well, he's not exactly my professor, but it's close," Kitty said and Melanie smacked her shoulder in glee.
"I knew you were my best friend! Who is he?"
"He's my school guidance counsellor," Kitty said and Melanie dropped her jaw.
"Wait, what's his name?" Melanie asked.
"Gunner Kelly," Kitty said and for the rest of the night, they did not speak another word to each other.
Days later, Kitty texted Melanie incessantly, only to receive absolutely no replies from her. She tried calling her phone but the moment it started ringing, the call immediately cut off, and she wondered if Melanie had blocked her. She wracked her brain over what could have possibly angered her when she decided that enough was enough and she went over to her place.
She pounded on Melanie's door over and over again. "Melanie! I know you're in there! Come out!"
Silence.
"Why did you ghost me?" Kitty asked. "Melanie!"
She heard footsteps approaching the door. The door began to unlock and slowly, it swung open.
Except that it swung open to Gunner.
