When I watched Sebastian sway his way outside with that wolf following him, I couldn't help it. I was up and after them without a moment's hesitation. A growl escaped me when I saw him in another man's arms.
"I'll take him home," I growled, pulling him into me.
"Does he know you?" the wolf asked.
"He's been staying with me, I can take him home," the woman insisted, reaching for him.
She looked pissed as she glared at me but I didn't care. No one but me was going to be taking him anywhere.
"I'm sorry sir, I know you're the alpha's nephew but Seb doesn't know you. I'm Mattie, a friend of his, I think he would feel better going home with someone he knows."
"Let Liam take him home."
Mattie, the woman and another male all stood to attention as my Uncle's voice came from behind me. Even Sebastian stiffened in my arms.
"Yes Alpha," Mattie nodded and went inside.
The woman and man shook their heads.
"Alpha, I don't think it's a good idea to let him take Sebastian," the woman insisted.
"Why not, Bonnie?" he asked.
"Well …" he looked at Seb, who shook his head and then me. "Well, it's because …"
"Because?"
Sebastian took a step away from me and I instantly missed his warmth.
"Because he rejected me," he answered weakly.
My Uncle sighed and shook his head at me. I'd already told him about the rejection and though he had been upset he'd understood.
"I understand that Sebastian, but maybe it might do you both some good to talk to each other," he suggested.
I grabbed his hand and pulled him along behind me.
"Hey!" he called out.
"My car is this way," I told him.
We drove in silence back to the Alpha house. Just an occasional sigh made me know he was awake. As soon as I pulled up he rushed out and headed inside.
"Wait!" I called after him.
I followed, albeit a bit slower, and headed for his room. It was locked so I knocked gently.
"Sebastian, let me in."
I heard soft footsteps and could see someone standing on the other side.
"Thanks for bringing me home, I'm tired so I'm just going to shower and head to bed," he whispered.
"Please Seb," I begged.
There was silence for a long time, as I was about to walk away I heard the lock click. Sebastian's tear-stained face peaked through the gap before he opened it wider.
He walked further back, allowing me to enter. I quietly shut the door and took a seat on his desk chair, he sat crossed-legged on his bed.
"Seb, I …," I started but stopped, I had no idea what to say.
"Look Liam, I get why you rejected me but … it isn't fair that I can't even hang with my friends without you being jealous. If you don't want me then let me have the choice of choosing someone else if I want to."
My wolf growled in my chest and a sickening feeling settled in my stomach. He was right, of course, since I rejected him he should be able to choose someone else. So why wasn't I ok with it?
"I need you to understand, I'm not totally against being with a man. I am sure there is a reason why I would be fated to one but it's…"
"It's because I'm a witch," he finished.
"I don't know what my Uncle has told you but my former mate, Millie, fell in love with a dark witch," I started before I could question myself. "She was the one poisoning Aria, it was to kill her painlessly. Then she sent her lover and his coven to attack us mainly to kill me so she could be with him."
Sebastian's eyes went wide and a small gasp told me he knew nothing about it.
"Many of my pack members died including our Alpha and Luna. Somehow, we managed to push them back. My ex and what was left of the coven left and what was left of my pack tried to recover but it wasn't the same. Aria got worse and then we came here."
"I'm still bonded to her so even if I wanted to I couldn't bond with you anyway."
Sebastian chewed his bottom lip and I desperately wanted to be the one biting it. I froze … did I want to kiss him?
"If …" he started quietly before taking a deep breath and moving closer to me. "If that bond was gone would you want to …"
"Mate with you?" I finished for him.
Sebastian nodded and I actually thought about it. Would I consider being mated to a witch?
"Honestly," I asked, he nodded. "I don't know Seb. I've wondered what would happen if I found my fated mate but there's no point in wondering as I can't remove the bond so it doesn't matter."
"Well, what if I told you I can remove the bond," he asked.
I stood instantly and stared wide-eyed at him. He could remove the bond? How? It's not possible, right?
"I can manipulate the energy connected to the bond. A year ago, one of our females was attacked by a rogue. He bit her and she was bonded to him. I'd read some of the books on magic in the Alpha's library so I knew how to remove it. I could do the same with you if you wanted."
