Chereads / Nephilim's Ascension: Alone in the Demon Realm / Chapter 13 - Out of Duskcrowned

Chapter 13 - Out of Duskcrowned

A white-haired boy could be seen on the back of a giant flying creature with large ebony wings. Thick dark hairs that looked like thin ribbons covered its body like a cascade of black ribbons.

Its body was similar to a Raven's; its crimson eyes shone in the Dawn. It gently flapped its wings as it tore through the sky, leaving behind gusts of wind.

A lady sat on its neck, dressed in a large black cloak that matched the color of the flying creature. Her scarlet eyes devoured the light itself; She guided the Demonic Beast.

At the back, its elongated ribboned tail waved in the sky.

Behind the Beast, a prosperous city could be seen; It was at the top of a mountain piercing the sky—a light blue colored hemispherical Barrier surrounded by a purple web pattern.

The city stood proudly. A spiral-type curved road could be seen moving across the mountain, connecting it to the surface.

Amon turned, and his eyes fell on the majestic city that looked like it was hovering over clouds. They then shifted toward the area around the city.

He found it covered in small hills and forests, with the majority being open fields. Countless towns surrounded it that further connected to smaller villages.

As the giant flying Beast descended near the surface, he could see the lifestyle of the inhabitants. Countless lower demons and humans could be seen working in the fields.

The moment they saw the flying creature, they bowed down, unwilling to raise their eyes. "It looks like life here is tough."

Tall walls made up of rocks could be seen surrounding the villages and towns; they appeared to be made to stop someone.

"Why do they need to build such large walls? Doesn't it cost a lot to build them?" he thought, unable to guess.

"You don't know because you have never ventured outside. They are doing it to face the Demonic Beast Horde," replied the scarlet-eyed woman.

"Countless demons lose their lives every time in the Blood Moon. These walls help them to face them by acting as a hurdle. Once those monsters cross them, they start plundering the crops and reaping their lives." She added it with a straight face.

Amon looked at the fields filled with yellow crops with red flowers and sighed, "Life is not easy outside. It might be tough to defend against the monsters."

Melusina chucked for a while before commenting in a mocking tone, "Monsters are not much; there are some creatures that are more scary than them. When they appear, multiple villages are wiped out."

Amon felt a chill in his back just hearing about them. The outside world looked way more horrifying than he had initially expected.

As the demon settlements passed by and the forest area started, he could see huge forests that expanded as far as he could see.

Gloomy trees covered the whole forest. They were mostly dark, with a red vein-like pattern on them.

He could not see much from afar, but this made him rethink his decision. It was not a place to play around. It was where countless monsters lingered.

Here, everyone fought for survival, which made them even more attentive. He could hear sounds and cries that appeared to scratch his heart.

The closer he was, the more nervous he became. Now he knew why his mother asked him to train more.

If he had arrived here a month ago, he would need to run nonstop to not become a meal of other monsters.

If that was not enough, he occasionally saw flying monsters passing by— gliding with giant wings made of loosened skin.

Pair of dangerous razor-sharp canines and strong talons that appeared like sharpened hooks made to tear apart flesh.

Their mouths dripped in saliva as they saw him; his muscular physique looked like tender meat to them, which appeared to be their favorite.

However, their subsequent actions were opposite to what one might expect; they flew away when their eyes fell on the woman looking at them with her scarlet eyes and hair flowing uncontrollably.

The wait was over, and the Demonic Mount started descending. Soon, it landed and folded its wings gracefully. Amon stepped down from its back.

He felt like the wind had started blowing faster when he stepped down. He felt chills all over his body.

When he took his first step on the black soil, he felt the air around him moved away, signaling him something. He felt chills all over his body as if something was wrong.

Before getting used to this, he heard a 'whoosh' sound of flapping wings. Looking back, he realized that the mount had left. Leaving him to his fate.

A slight, pungent smell invaded his nose. Just as he was about to move, his body stopped, His eyes falling on the brown grass filled with tiny blackthorns.

He moved back cautiously, unwilling to risk stepping on it. He felt bad for not studying books for the first time; he had no idea what this plant was.

His eyes blinked as he scanned his surrounding area with prana sense; noticing Prana was present here, he sighed in relief.

Even within the dense democratic energy, he noticed that Prana was coexisting without any change; he didn't have to exert extra effort to absorb or use it.

This was good news for him; he didn't have to care about losing all his Prana.

He started exploring the forest and found that it was mainly inhabited by small creatures that jumped from one tree to another.

As he went deeper, he noticed the change; the forest had become denser. He struggled to find a way, so he took out his sword and approached cautiously.

He heard the cries of monsters that shook the forest and made the small creatures run away. He soon found a tree with yellow fruits.

The surrounding area was filled with them. He plucked one and started eating it.

He found multiple of them scattered on the ground. They were ripe ones that had fallen from the tree and now rotted.

His eyes fell on the creatures in the nearby trees; he could see many demonic monkeys. After climbing down he was inspecting the area when he heard the sound of something approaching.

'Growl,' A two-meter creature appeared before him. It was a four-legged, hairless creature with no eyes. It had a large mouth filled with sharp teeth that looked strong enough to snap his bones.

It smelled before turning toward Amon. Its body started shaking as if it were excited. The small holes in his neck released a black gas before it released a loud 'Growl' and charged at him.

Amon wasted no time and carefully dodged it. The creature made a sharp turn and started charging at him again.

This creature was quick on his feet and was able to take sharp turns. He dodged and fended off its attack at the beginning.

Trying to study its attack pattern, he launched some sword attacks once he was confident. One of his attacks penetrated his neck, ending his Life and making him release a cry in agony.

He sighed in relief. Never had he thought he would struggle this much against one of the weakest creatures.
