Chapter 14 - A close call

This demonic Beast was not strong individually but was good at fighting with a group. He was checking the corpse when he heard multiple growls.

"Shit," he yelled when his eyes fell on the five demon creatures of the same species surrounding him.

Their tiny tales wiggled in the air, creating a rattling sound; they used it to communicate. The next moment, he found himself being attacked by the group.

It was tough to face so many of them at once; they surrounded him and launched attacks before retreating swiftly, giving him no chance to outplay them.

Some of their attacks landed successfully, and two claw marks appeared on his chest, resulting in his crimson blood flowing out. He released a painful groan as agony jolted through his chest.

He felt burns on his wounds constantly, making it harder for him to concentrate. Hopefully, they started recovering quickly.

"It looks like I will need to rely on Prana; saving strength here is not an option." He said, making a decision.

He focussed and took a small breath; the next moment, an azure Blue Aura appeared around his feet, increasing his movement speed to the next level. He swung his sword at one of the opponents and landed a swift cut.

'Slice'

However, the Beast's skin was so thick that it didn't receive any significant damage. He had to jump back in a hurry to evade the attacks of the other beasts.

He exchanged multiple moves with them; he was injured but noticed improvements in his fighting style. The more experience he got, the more fluid his attacks became.

His confidence increased; however, Prana Energy was depleting rapidly, forcing him to finish the batter quickly.

He waited patiently, his eyes keeping an eye on each of them. The moment he had been waiting finally presented itself to him; two beasts attacked him from behind.

Using more Prana energy on his feet, he started charging at them. Giving them little to no time to react.

'Slash'

His sword tore through the air; its blade veiled in Blue Aura. It sliced through the body of the two monsters close to each other, hacking them into two separate pieces.

The cut was smooth as if a hot knife was passing through butter.

Corpses of the two beasts fell, creating a pond of greenish liquid around them. Looking at this, the remaining Beasts were enraged.

'Growl,' they charged at him with the intention to tear apart his body.

Amon was patient, dodging their attacks calmly and waiting for a perfect opportunity. He didn't have to wait long; his sword whistled through the air, bypassing one of them.

'Swish'

This exchange made him groan in pain, holding his chest.

'Drop'

The Beast was about to charge at him when it realized it could not exert any strength; Its head fell, creating a small fountain of blood behind it.

Ignoring his pain, Amon charged at the remaining two opponents.

Now that he was an advantage, He took a deep breath, releasing his full force.

His body whooshed through the air as he approached the Beasts, 'Rattle,' the other Beast tried to warn his friend; however, it was too late.

The bullet had already left the barrel, 'Spurt' its elongated neck was an easy target for Amon.

Not even checking the result of his attack, He concentrated Prana on his legs again and dashed at the remaining opponent.

Quickly ending its misery, sending him to his friends.

He checked and covered his wounds; with a big exhale, the Prana stopped circulating. Beads of sweat appeared on his forehead; He was tired.

His eyes fell on the corpses; he approached them and stared at them before his sword dug into their bodies.

Like a butcher, he kept slicing them until he found what he sought. A fist-size black-colored organ, filled with vessels and arteries, appeared in his hand.

Further directing it, he dug his hand inside it and searched for a while. He had to close his nose; the disgusting smell was unbearable.

His brows raised as he took his hand out; the moment he opened his fist, a small tetragonal crystal appeared before him.

It was blood red, shining like a gem.

These were the demon crystals found inside the demon monsters. "These things are precious; they can be used as a currency, while their main use is for making artifacts."

"I should also take some meat too before leaving this area; the smell of blood can attract more of them." He left the area, unwilling to waste even a moment; he had a tiny amount of Prana left.

This could be dangerous; he would have been in trouble earlier without Prana. He moved toward the border area, where the demon beasts were relatively weak.

He gathered some dry grass and wood and tried to light a fire. It took him some time, but he could finally do that.

He cooked the meat and guarded the place, constantly monitoring his surroundings.

After believing it was cooked correctly, he brought it closer to his mouth and smelled it. It smelled disgusting, and he took a small bite.

Its taste was also not something one would like to eat willingly. The meat was hard, which made it tough to chew.

It was the worst meal he ever had; however, he was not sad as this was something he had prepared for himself.

"From now on, I will need to get used to eating meals like this. Who knows when I will see my mother after leaving for Royal School?" He said as he looked at the sky.

"I am feeling a little thirsty, but for now I will need to control it; it's already Dark. Moving around at night will not be safe."

After checking the area around him, he closed his eyes and sat in a lotus position. He sensed the Prana around him and started absorbing it into his body.

It only took him a few minutes before he was able to recover his Prana back to normal. He continued trying to finish today's last set of Prana Training.

He noticed slight progress; he stepped down and trained to use Prana after finishing. His movements were fluid this time; he had become more experienced in fighting with Prana.

The following day, he started searching for water. Lucky for him, he heard the sound of a river.

He followed the direction and appeared near a big river. He started approaching it to quench his thirst, but just as he was about to drink he felt shivers down his spine.

A demon beast ambushed him from the water; adrenaline rushed through his head as he used his hands and caught his mouth.

It tried to use its power to crush him. However, Amon was faster he used Pana to surround his hand before using his full strength to tear it apart.

His heartbeat was raised, as he looked at the corpse of the creature.

After that, he checked the water before washing his wounds and drinking. He stored some water in the container he made from the tree near him.

Now that he knew where the river was, he didn't need to care about searching for water. Which made it easy for him to train and fight the Demonic Beast more effectively.
