Chapter 9 - The Beginning of an Old Party (3)

An elf woman said, "You might not like this one, but you can't pierce the steel plate using that technique.",

They were on a hill within the Elven Kingdom. The sweet smell of freshly mowed grass made the air heavy and sickly sweet. The smell of tired people crept through the air. There were flowers blooming everywhere. It was such a beautiful sight. There were many arrows beside trees stuck on the ground. Both of them were training their lumina and trying to improve their skills with their bows, but one of them was trying to compete.

She replied, "I'm not going to lose again!"

The little sister is trying to compete with how deep their wooden arrows could pierce through a steel plate they hung from trees. Normally this wouldn't have happened, but with lumina, even paper could cut through steel armor. They envelope their strings and wooden arrow with their lumina and then simultaneously shoot the arrow with the steel plate as a target. Obviously, the elder one wins since she has learned lumina for a longer time than the little one. With a wooden arrow, she can pierce it deep enough to scratch even the tree behind the steel plate. That bow shot would have left a hole in the chest of a fully armored knight. The little one could only scratch the steel plate, and the arrow would stick to the ground. They were shooting it over one kilometer. Not only were the shots taken from a far distance, but the environment was also windy, so their shots were really precise. Both of them are very talented.

The little sister said, "Ugh, why won't it pierce the steel plate? I put in so much lumina."

The elf woman then put her hand on top of her little sister's head.

"It's not just about the amount of lumina, but you need to concentrate to envelop and shape the lumina at the edge of the arrow."

The elder sister made a motion to shoot the arrow; her lumina enveloped the point of the arrow, and it turned from silver to green.

"Then if you put in this type of force, it would do more than what we did before."

She envelops the string with lumina, twists it really hard, and pulls it even further than what happened before. The string was strong because it was enveloped in her light. When she fired those shots, shockwaves came out from the power of the shots. When it hits the steel plate, it makes a large hole in the center. Her little sister looked at the shots in awe.

Suddenly, two maids riding horses appeared to be rushing to their place. As soon as they arrived, one of them said

"Lady Cithrel and Estelle, pardon. There is an urgent message from the human kingdom. It was from the king himself. We need to hurry back to the castle."

They then ride the horses and rush back to the elven castle. After they arrived, they soon went into the castle and found the queen of the elven kingdom and all the elders there. Her face was pale, and the audience seemed anxious.

"Mom, what happened?" Estelle said.

"Oh, you girls are back. It seems we're in a pinch. We need to help the human kingdom, or else every other kingdom, no, humanity, will perish. There is a crisis happening within the human kingdom. It appears that from the letter, there will be a horde of monsters attacking them, with one of them never seen before." The Queen said

There was silence. Everyone knows that the elven kingdom must help them, but there is some irregularity with their elder responses. They are hesitating since the one they need to send off is someone of importance.

"It appears I must go," Cithrel said.

Cithrel is the first candidate for the next queen since her appearance and skills with a bow are second to none. Sending her to fight this calamity is like throwing your precious jewel to the ground, hoping it will not break when it hits.

"Yes, we'll send you off through the gate," the Queen said.

Suddenly, there was an old man with red hair rushing in and kneeling in front of all of them.

"I'm sorry for my grandchild's obsolescence behavior. He should have joined the princess in the war, but he was wandering somewhere else and nowhere to be found."

He is only wearing a tank top. His old scars showed from his shoulder, with bulky muscle all over his arms and legs. He is a human living in the Elven Kingdom. His name is Barbarossa, the known hero in the Elven Kingdom who fought a horde of monsters alone to protect the Elven Kingdom border 60 years ago. He then proceeded to marry a half-elf and have a son. The son married somebody of royal elven blood but died while fighting in civil wars related to the throne for the current queen. His son's wife mourned for his death, causing her to get sick and die after a year of fighting, leaving their son with his grandfather. They are both living in the capital of the Elven Kingdom while opening a blacksmith shop.

"You've done enough, Barbarossa," the Queen said.

"I'm sorry, for this old body will not be of any use now. I'll just be in the way if I go with the young elf," Barbarossa said.

"No one wants you to go. We'll handle this," the Queen replied.

Then Barbarossa put his hand on his bag, taking out what looked like a sheathed dagger. Its handle is green, and the sheath is silver. He said,

"Princess Cithrel, this is my best work. Take this with you."

Cithrel goes to him, takes the sheathed dagger, and unsheathes the dagger. The blade was black-colored and made with mithril, which could not be found anywhere in the Elven Kingdom. Then Barbarossa said,

"I got the material delivered from the human kingdom."

Then Cithrel sheathed the dagger and said, "I'll use your dagger to bring an end to this disaster and glory to the Elven Kingdom."

After that, they all sent her off to the border. Everyone sent her off with a smile, confident that Princess Cithrel would come back and bring the Elven Kingdom its glory.
