The explosion shocked everyone. Some vehicles that were passing through the building stopped abruptly as shards of glass were falling from the sky.
"W-What happened?" Trevor asked in shock.
'I don't know, sir. But you better hurry because someone is in need of help there,' AI T answered.
Trevor planned to head straight for the exit, but he stopped in his tracks.
"Wait, this is too close to home. If someone sees me coming out of this building in a costume like this, won't my identity be found out immediately?" he asked as he was looking at his reflection in the mirror. He was still wearing the costume he had just chosen from the game.
'Don't worry about that, sir. Hidden identity mode is activated automatically when the player wears their costume. No one will see you until you get to the scene. Even your voice will sound different if you talk to someone you know. They will never notice unless you change clothes right in front of them,' AI T explained again.
"Really?" Trevor muttered in amazement.
'Yes sir. However, of course, this mode does not apply to several parties such as the special agents and the main villain or Frederick Dunn. That's why I am warning you again to always be careful not to act rashly around him, no matter how angry you are with him. Because it will only harm you.' AI T only paused for a moment before saying again, 'We'd better discuss this later, sir. Now let's do our work first.'
"Let's go!"
Without being asked twice, Trevor left his room. At that time, he almost collided with the girl next door who happened to be running in front of his door. The strange thing was the woman just passed him through as if he was nothing.
'She didn't see me? Am I really invisible?'
He quickly followed Amanda Claire who entered the elevator. There were already three other people inside.
"The explosion seems severe. What if there's a fire?" A girl talked with her friend.
"I hope the fire can be extinguished soon. I am worried that our building will also be affected," the other girl responded.
"More than that we have to think about the room's tenants. I hope they can escape from there." Trevor answered to test his presence in the eyes of those people. "What do you think?"
Silence. No one answered. The other four elevator passengers -- including Amanda -- seemed to be busy with their own thoughts. Trevor even tested again by waving his hand in their faces, but they didn't even blink.
"So I am completely invisible?" He was so amazed.
Ting!
As soon as the elevator doors opened, Amanda ran out fast. Trevor was quite impressed by that.
"That's a fast run. She might be a track athlete," Trevor said as he ran after her.
The crowd had formed in front of the building. Everyone looked panicked and curious. They all looked up and focused on one of the rooms on the third floor.
"Ouch, Be careful, man!" Someone protested when they accidentally bumped into each other.
"I am sorry."
Trevor checked himself again. It seems that his presence has begun to be seen by people. Some people looked fascinated to see his all-black appearance with a wolf mask.
He tried to find Amanda again. He saw her running towards the building's entrance.
'What does she think she is doing? Is she going to the scene?' asked Trevor absently.
'You must get ahead of her, sir. You can lose the opportunity to get a reward if you don't contribute anything,' said AI T amidst the chaos.
'Does it matter now? We have to put the safety of those people first -- more than anything else.' Trevor protested as he ran inside. Some people were blocking him, but the man insisted on entering. He also used the crowd around him to sneak in.
The elevator was crowded. Trevor saw Amanda had climbed up the stairs. Once again, he followed her track.
'But that woman's stamina is really amazing. It's very hard to keep up with her," Trevor grumbled, out of breath.
'That's why you should start to workout on your body from now on, Sir. Because you will often face situations that require your strength and agility like this,' said AI T cheerfully.
After a tiring effort, Trevor arrived at the third floor. The strong burning odor lingering around there made it hard to breathe. But even so, he insisted on entering the place.
He saw Amanda was already in front of the door. She tried to break it down by crashing her body into the door frame many times.
"They don't respond?" asked Trevor as he also slammed his body against it.
Amanda seemed briefly surprised by the sudden presence of a stranger. Not to mention, he has a strange mask on his face. She chose to ignore it and shook her head, "Maybe they have passed out."
Judging by the woman's reaction, it seemed she didn't recognize Trevor as her annoying neighbor. It also explained that the woman had not seen him when they ran toward each other at the door of his room earlier.
It took a big effort to break the locked door. Luckily, a few passersby came to help them, so the door opened after three minutes.
Thick smoke from inside made them all cough and their eyes feel sore. Even so, Amanda could not be stopped. She ran inside.
"Hey, be careful. You could be in danger," Trevor shouted as he followed her.
It was very hard to keep his eyes open. However, he had to do this. He had to find people who needed their help.
Checking each room was something he immediately did. He entered the only room there. He didn't find a single person inside.
"H-Here!"
Trevor quickened his pace when he heard Amanda scream from the kitchen. He saw a young woman trapped between piles of messy furniture due to the effects of the explosion. Trevor and Amanda worked together to release her
"Help me...." The woman groaned weakly. "Please help Bubbly too...."
"Who is Bubbly?" Trevor was confused because he had not seen anyone else there. "Do you live with other people here?"
"It is my puppy. I kept it in a kennel on the back balcony."
"We will get you out of here first." Amanda tapped Trevor on the shoulder. "Quick, carry her on your shoulders."
The man looked a little confused, "H-Huh? Y-Yes. Of course!"
Just as Trevor turned around, a group of firefighters arrived there. One of them took the victim to get on his back instead.
"What are you guys doing here? Come on out now!" cried one of the officers. The fire did seem to be getting worse at that time.
Amanda followed the steps of the officers. Trevor intended to tag them along at first, but his steps felt heavy to leave just like that. He remembered the woman's request to him earlier.
"Let's do this quickly."
Amidst the growing flames, Trevor finally made up his mind. He rushed to the back balcony. He immediately found the creature he was looking for. It looked frightened.
Trevor opened the cage door and picked up the pomeranian dog.
"Let's get out of here, baby."
As soon as Trevor was about to leave, the fire spread into the living room. It's actually getting harder to breathe. However, luckily, he still had a chance to quickly escape from there alive.
