Chapter 38 - Blood Claw Clan

Currently, Murky found himself in a strange situation. He was chewing on a blade of grass while thinking about the scene before him.

A horrifying pile of lifeless bodies lay scattered on the ground, turning the once beautiful landscape into a gruesome display of blood and destruction. Murky coughed violently, trying to clear the mucus in his throat.

After a few attempts, he finally managed to expel it loudly.

"Puuuuuh!!"

He spat out the mucus and saliva to the side and lazily looked at the lifeless corpses.

He was clearly dissatisfied as he grumbled.

"This terrible nightmare system is so pathetic. I wish I could play against real players, have the chance to meet at least one of them, and enjoy the thrill of killing."

Murky gazed up at the sky, taking in the vast expanse of blue with scattered white clouds.

The serene view provided a momentary clarity to his mind, offering a brief respite from the turmoil within.

He let out a sigh, expressing his discontent. "This peaceful setting doesn't suit me. I crave action, a return to the real world where I can exact revenge on those despicable individuals," Murky spoke with a fervent longing in his voice.

Somehow this peace made him remember the family in the real world, those who abused him, the girl and others.

After voicing his frustration, Murky absentmindedly scratched his head.

"Oh, how I yearn for a life less mundane. There are still debts to be settled in the real world. Send me a player from that realm, whether they be human, a Progenitor, or a Weremorph. I care not. I simply long to witness the spilling of their filthy blood!"

Not long after that, as if the nightmare system had heard his wish, a notification appeared before his eyes.

Ding!

[ The player StupidLove has logged into the Progenitor versus Aliens game. The player StupidLove can now interact with other players.

[ The player StupidLove is the ultimate prey. ]l

[ Your mission: be the last surviving human or face the consequences of losing your privileges. ]

The nightmare system was announced.

Murky, uninterested earlier, bit down on the leaves he had been using to clean his teeth before spitting them out.

Spat!

He muttered to the system, "Finally, I might find some enjoyment in this game."

Murky stood up and stretched his limbs with a relaxed grace. He noticed three nematoceran hounds approaching, accompanied by a strange creature.

Their presence made his entire being felt anew and awake.

Soon, a smile of anticipation appeared on his face as he said, "Ah, finally, a new creature to add to my list of victims. I'm tired of bears, mountain lions, wolves, goats, and bulls."

He spoke in a quiet voice as he observed the creature from a distance.

When Murky took a closer look, he realized that the creature seemed strangely familiar, especially its white armor, which was a stark contrast to his own lack of armor.

It's also walking silently in its two legs like that of a human.

Additionally, there was another humanoid walking behind the creature, beside a single Nematoceran hound.

Murky couldn't help but murmur, "Another one? Well, well, not surprising."

With a sudden gesture, he pointed towards a dense cluster of trees and commanded,

"Take them there. I need at least nine more of their kind."

The Nematoceran hounds obediently followed his orders and guided the newcomers to the specified location.

Murky noticed that the Progenitor seemed bewildered, clearly surprised by the unknown status he had witnessed.

Earlier, Murky had instructed the Nematoceran hounds to keep bears, wolves, mountain lions, and other creatures away.

The reason behind his seemingly lazy approach was that Murky's tired of killing each one of those creatures, but the truth is, inside his head, his own ability required some time to recharge.

"The Elder Progenitor was easily deceived. He doesn't know that my ability needs time to recover, but I like it like that," Murky muttered, observing the shocked expression on the face of the Newborn Progenitor.

"Keep searching, Elder. Keep trying to uncover where those shots in the sky came from," he added with a sly smile.

Suddenly, as Murky was a little busy murmuring to himself, he noticed an exchange of glances between the two Newborn Progenitors, paying attention to every subtle detail to the surrounding.

It was fast, if Murky's eyes were not focused on them just because he was bored, he wouldn't notice.

Anticipating their reaction, Murky understood that he shouldn't think of them slowly, after all, they are Progenitors. Beings were not ordinary creatures; they possessed intelligence far superior to that of humans.

So he decided that It would be wise for him to stay alert while waiting.

Suddenly, Murky's attention was drawn to the two Progenitors attempting to move forward, only to be stopped by the imposing figures of the two Nematoceran hounds, firmly blocking their path.

It was as if the Nematoceran hounds were conveying a clear message: "Not yet, gentlemen."

Recognizing that the two Progenitors were no match for the hounds, they exchanged another glance and silently agreed to abandon their intended course of action.

Seeing their response, Murky couldn't resist picking his nose, a wide grin spreading across his face as he enjoyed his relaxed state.

"Ah, this is a peace I didn't want. Snow White, you are truly a heavenly blessing."

Murky remarked with sarcasm, his mind free from thoughts as he gazed at the carefree dance of the clouds above.

However, something suddenly clicked in Murky's mind, and he redirected his attention back to the Progenitors.

"Are they players?"

He asked cautiously, and then carefully examined their appearances, scanning them from head to toe, on how they move and how they breathe.

"In the Taming of the Hundred Thousand Dragons, creatures from the real world possessed humans, dragons, and even poultry dragons—not the humans themselves," Murky thought lazily interested. "But as I observe these two, a strange feeling arises within me. It seems they aren't from the real world, but rather the original beings of this realm."

Without warning, the two Progenitors sprang into action.

One swiftly moved left while the other darted right, displaying an astonishing level of agility that amazed Murky.

"They are attacking?"

Murky heartbeat became fast for a second, before an excitement sparked within him, and anticipation lit up his face.

"Progenitors truly are fascinating creatures," Murky exclaimed, running his tongue over his lips.

"In movies, they're portrayed as courageous, honorable warriors who never back down from a challenge.

"Well, for now, they can serve as substitutes for the players I want to see die right in front of my very eyes," Murky muttered, a smirk forming on his face.

He stood up, crossed his arms, and assumed a defiant posture like a game level boss as he waited for the approaching challengers.

However, before the Progenitors could reach him, the two Nematoceran hounds sprang into action, rushing to Murky's defense while emitting menacing growls.

"Grrrr... Grrr..."

They warned, their barks echoing loudly.

The two Nematoceran hounds barked ferociously, sounding highly annoyed as if scolding the two Progenitors.

Surprisingly, the Progenitors halted their movements, their expressions reflecting deep confusion and a sense of being stunned by the unfolding events.

It's like they are stunned at how fast the Nematoceran hounds are.

"Didn't they know these creatures?"

To Murky, it seemed as though they were struggling to understand what was happening right in front of them.

"Well… maybe they haven't met the strong ones like these three…"

However, because of the speed and agility of the Nematoceran hounds, Murky knew that he could underestimate these two Progenitors.

The hounds were fast, and he's sure that these two Progenitors won't be able to match these three Nematoceran hounds in terms of sheer power.

"Step aside," Murky commanded, pushing the hounds away, and then walked forward with no hint of fear in his eyes.

The hounds stared at him in shock, realizing that this was the first time Murky had moved since their encounter began.

Nevertheless, the Nematoceran hounds also realized that they were too late to intervene.

Murky continued walking in his intended direction, and the two Progenitors unsheathed their swords, producing a metallic sound reminiscent of silver meeting steel.

"Hmm?"

Murky noticed the swords in their hands.

"Shameless Elder Progenitor," Murky muttered quietly.

He just chuckled with amusement.

It seemed to him that the Elder Progenitor was determined to use him as a stepping stone of his Blood Claw clan, so the Elder Progenitor sent him another Blood Progenitors from other clans to test his skills.
