Kate's lips curled into a knowing smile. "I'm not surprised," she mused, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "The knight in shining armor saves the damsel in distress. It's like something out of a romance novel," she said before sinking back into her seat.
"So, how was coffee?" Kate inquired.
Anna hesitated; her gaze distant. "It was... okay," she replied, her voice trailing off. She couldn't help but replay the morning in her mind.
"He likes you, you know," Kate said, leaning in closer. "Can't you sense the chemistry?"
Anna scoffed, but her eyes betrayed a flicker of doubt. "Well, he doesn't."
Kate studied her friend with a knowing look. "How sure are you about that?"
Anna sighed. "I'm very sure I won't be seeing him again after today because he told me so."
Kate's curiosity was piqued. "Wait a minute. You lost me there for a second. What do you mean he told you himself?"
