"I need to go back to Kate; she might be searching for me now," Anna said, attempting to stand, but a sudden wave of dizziness overwhelmed her. Swift as a reflex, Ray caught her before she could crumble to the ground, holding her close to his chest like a cherished possession.
"No need to go find Kate. I will take you home," Ray reassured, his voice carrying a mixture of concern and authority.
Anna's thoughts wandered for a fleeting moment in the warmth of his protective embrace before she regained her composure. "But I need to tell Kate."
"My secretary will handle that," Ray replied with a certainty that brooked no argument.
