Chapter 19 - Chapter Nineteen: You're Sick

The excitement on Kate's face was priceless. She was even more ecstatic than I was.

"But what was he even doing at Red's?" she asked, curiosity written all over her smiley face.

"He was just in search of a suitable restaurant to hold a business meeting, and his assistant suggested the place to him."

"He was searching for a suitable restaurant," Kate mimicked her. "Don't you think that's one big coincidence, Anna? Didn't the thought that he might be there to see you cross your mind?" she pointed out, her heart leaping at the thought of it, but it was a short-lived joy as he was the one who said he was there just to scout for good restaurants.

"Well, I don't know. He asked me to deliver a package to him, but I told him that I wouldn't, but he still insisted and handed me his card."

"You have his private phone number?"

"Yes. I have his cell phone number," Anna replied and flashed the card in the air.

Kate gasped. Her eyes popped wide open.

"You are one lucky person. The richest, cutest, enigmatic bachelor in America just gave you his number, and here you are acting all like you can't read the handwriting on the wall."

"Huh?"

"Anna!" Kate called and held onto my shoulders. "He likes you, no doubt. Forget that idea about looking for a suitable restaurant. He is interested in you, no doubt," her tone soft and emphatic.

"Kate, I don't know about that. I think he was looking for a good restaurant," Anna replied, not trying to get her hopes up, even though deep down, she prayed and hoped with all the cells in her that she was right.

"I know they say there are many fish in the sea, but, damn girl, you caught the biggest fish. You are going to give him that package."

"What!" Anna said with her voice slightly raised. "I don't think so."

"Why?" Kate asked, but before Anna could voice out her reason, Kate cut her short.

"You know what? Keep your reasons. If you have decided not to go, just give me the card and see it like I am doing you a favor," Kate stretched out her palm.

"I'll be holding on to this," Anna muttered with a shy smile and returned the card to her purse. "My mind isn't made up yet."

Kate laughed. She knew how to get her friend.

"Allen showed up," Anna dropped the bomb. She had been waiting to tell her this.

"Again? At your workplace?"

"Yes, and Raymond was there."

"Oh my. What does he want?"

"I don't know. He claims he wants to get back to me. He loves me and all that."

"Forget him. He can go to hell for all I care, after all, he put you through."

"I'm scared, Kate. You know how Allen can be. I hope he leaves me alone."

"I warned you. But you were head over heels in love with that guy. I don't even know what you saw in him. A good girl loving a bad guy kind of relationship."

"That's why I am weary of falling in love again."

"Please don't start being weary now that you've caught a big fish. My ward rope needs changing."

Anna laughed and pushed Kate off the sofa.

"You're sick!"
