Chapter 3 - History

Liam saw Nyx running into the bakery as it was slowly burning down. He ran to the building as Nyx was stuggling to pull Celia out of the building. Liam ran in, picking up the old woman with ease, running outside, and placing her on the ground. Nyx ran beside her, sliding on the ground.

"Mother! Mother!" She said, shaking her shoulder a little and then holding her cheeks, waiting.

A minute passed when she woke up with a jolt coughing gasping for air.

"Mother!" Nyx said with excitement.

She helped her up, pulling her into a hug.

"Oh, my dear. I'm okay." She said, still gasping for air.

Liam pulled out a pouch full of water, giving it to Nyx. Nyx looked for a moment at the pouch, then to Liam, then back to the pouch, thinking.

"It's okay. Sweetie. You can trust him." Celia managed to get out.

Looking at her mother with sadness, because of her mothers pain, Nyx hesitantly reached for the water, taking it. She took the pouch, taking the lid off. She put it up to her mother lips, who began drinking, like she hadn't had water in days.

"Thank you." She said, looking at Liam. He nodded his head, looking back at Nyx. She slowly picked up her head, looking in his eyes.

"Thank you." Nyx said, looking away quickly, feeling a flutter in her heart and stomach.

Celia closed her eyes and smiled, knowing exactly what had just happened.

"I think I'll sleep now." Celia said, drifting off to sleep in Nyx's arms.

Liam then picked her up, standing up. He looked around, wondering where to go know.

Nyx stood up, looking at Liam.

"Follow me." She said, turning her back and walking. She noticed everyone staring at them, and she began to worry, as she stared at the ground. She had lived in peace with them for so long, and now they just saw a part of her, she never wanted to reveal. It didn't matter if she was helping or protecting. She was different, and humans feared things that were different.

Liam noticed her change in mood and appearance.

"They won't understand now, but one day they will." He said, looking at the back of Nyx's head.

She looked up, turning her head, glimpsing at Liam, who was calm and collected.

They continued to walk until they made it to the studio.

"Rosa!" Nyx called out.

As a woman with the red hair came out from behind the desk, along with the other dancers.

"It's over. They're gone." Nyx said, reassuring Rosa.

Rosa nodded her head. Liam guessed that she knew about Nyx because she showed no scared or worried feelings, but understanding. In an instant, Rosa turned to the other dancers.

"You are dismissed, go home, and be with your families." She said, waving them out.

She then looked at Nyx, noticing Celia in Liams arms.

"Come this way." She said, leading the way out the back of the old building and into a small house. Where there were four beds and a small little kitchen, and a bathroom next door.

Liam layed Celia in the bed in the far corner, putting a blanket over her, making her comfortable.

"Thank you." Nyx said, talking to Rosa, giving her a hug.

"Mi amor, you know I'm always here for you and your mother if you ever need anything." She assured her, hugging her back.

"Do you need anything else?" She asked Nyx.

"Some extra blankets, please." Nyx replied.

Rosa left, giving a slight smile and a nod to Liam, who was now sitting on the other side of the room on a bed. Nyx turned around, glacing at Liam before sitting in the bed next to her mother.

"Are you okay?" Liam asked.

Without answering the question, Nyx looked right into his eyes, causing him to be slightly uneasy.

"Who are you?" She said.

He stared back at her as she stared back. Her eye brow raised up as she was waiting for him to answer. He looked away for a moment before looking back at her, leaning his back against the backboard of the bed , making it squeak.

"I am a follower of God." He replied.

She raised her eyes, expecting a better answer, and he knew that. He let out a big sigh.

"I am Liam, one of God's angels, I am the angel of death." He finally said, looking at Nyx waiting for her reaction.

She then laid bad on the backboard of the bad, also making it squeak.

"Why would God send the angel of death?" She asked, almost in a mocking tone.

"Because I'm immune to poisons and toxins, the witches and vampires have." He said, shaking his head and looking at the doorway as Rosa came back with four more blankets.

Nyx got up taking the blankets.

"Thank you." She said as she took the blankets, placing them on one of the empty beds. Rosa gave another kind smile, leaving them.

Nyx looked up at the wall, taking a deep breath. Turning around and walking into the studio, Liam stayed, knowing she needed space. Instead, he stayed meditating and praying. About five hours passed, and Liam had rested about two, and it was starting to get dark. He decided to get up to see where Nyx was only to find her just in the studio.

He opened the back door quietly, making sure not to startle her. He moved down the hallway where there was a small window where you could see the whole dance floor. He decided to see her through there, and he did. She was dancing, leaping, and turning. She was very graceful, ever move, turn, and jump done effortlessly.

The music began to turn dark, and he dance changed as well, as she started flips and tumples, looking at herself in the mirror. Liam noticed her eyes. They had changed to purple.

He decided that it was time to leave. He walked out without making a sound but stopped at the door to the back house staring at the floor, with his heart and stomach full of butterflies, he took a deep breath. He went to his horse, which had traveled to the front of the building, grabbing another bag with some clothes. Patting his horse on his neck, he went back to the back house to the bathroom, washing up, trying to get comfortable.

As he walked out of the bathroom, put his armor on the bed next to him, and placed his daggers and sword on his bed.

He had a halfway buttoned up black shirt and loose slack like pants. As he was about to sit down, he turned around, realizing Nyx was sitting in the door frame staring at the sky, her hair was wet, like she had just washed up. He looked for a bit, finally building the courage to go check on her. As he approached her, he leaned on the door frame, hands in his pocket, looking down at her. She didn't even look at him.

"I wonder what it would be like, to be among the stars." Nyx, glancing at Liam.

He looked up at the stars, thinking about what he had seen, through his life. He thought for a bit, looking back down at Nyx, who was still staring staring at the sky. He sat down next to her, leaning back, placing his palms on the wood to hold his body up.

"Why do you stay here?" Liam asked, taking Nyx out of her trance.

She looked at him with her golden glowing eyes, then looked at her mother staring at her for a bit.

"For her." He said.

Nyx turned back to the stars.

"I never knew my parents. All I've known is her." She said with a sad tone, looking back at Liam.

"I only remember things since the day I met her, I don't know my creators or who birthed me. All I know is that I was in a storm crying for my mom, and she only Celia." She said, looking back her her mother.

She continued her story. "It was stormy, and I was so scared that I created my own friends, shadow people." She said, looking back at the stars, her eyes flashing a purple glow.

"But the shadow people became too possessive they scared anyone who was trying to help me. Eventually, it became too dark for me to see I began to cry more and more. Until, I saw a light shadow and a kind womans voice, telling me it's okay. Once my emotions calmed down, I could see her. Sitting on the ground, squeezing her eyes closed, and holding her arms out in an embrace. I was nervous and just ran into her arms. She didn't hesitate to hold me me close, and from then on, she has been my mother. She raised me and loved me most my whole life." She said, looking at Liam to see his reaction, giving him a slight smile.

He smiled back, making her blush.

"Why aren't you asleep." She asked.

"Same reason you aren't." He replied. "The shadows keep me awake to."

She looked at him, surprised. "I didn't think God's angels had such a torturous thing." She said, looking at the ground.

"Well, no, but I'm in my more, mortal self." He said, looking up at the sky. "I'm usually all, boney. If you get my drift." He said, letting out a slight laugh elbowing Nyx a little.

"What, really? But why are you like this right now? Why not keep the cool skelital self." She laughed, showing two pairs of fangs Liam never knew was there.

"Well, that is for the ones that are really bad." He laughed back, admiring Nyx to himself.

They both stopped laughing, staring back at each other deep in each other's eyes. Nyx blinked multiple times, taking her out of the trance and looking away.

"I'll help." She said softly.

Liam smiled, nodding his head. "When your mother wakes up, we will tell her and leave."

Nyx nodded her head, standing up, turning her body to go inside, stopping halfway. "Goodnight." She whispered. I'm going to lay down.

Liam waited another hour, still admiring Nyx. Then, getting up, he glaced back up at the sky, finally going back to his bed, taking his sword, placing it on his chest, falling asleep.
