Liam began looking around the room for his stuff. He was looking for about ten minutes until he heard a knock on the door. He opened it, revealing Annie, who looked very concerned.
"What happened? Is she okay?" She asked, trying to peek through Liam to see Nyx.
"She's fine, just resting." Liam said, moving so Annie could see her.
Annie took a deep breath, glad that Nyx was alright, but then her mood switched quickly as she turned to Liam. "The king saw the way she was and wants you to meet him immediately in the throne room." She said, glancing at Nyx.
"What did he see?" Liam asked.
"My guess, probably just her being drawn to the forest." She said, seeing Liam look back at Nyx. "You know what lies in that forest. It's the many souls the king placed to attract creatures like y'all." She said, throwing her hand up as if He should've seen this coming.
"I'll be down in a minute, I need."
"By the wall in the opening behind the chair, she hid it." Annie interrupted. "I'll wait here." She finished closing the door, letting Liam get ready.
Liam found his stuff, putting it on he looked at Nyx sleeping soundly in the bed. How cute that she thought he could hide his stuff, he thought. He flipped up his hood, taking a deep breath. Finally, he was back in his normal clothes. Now he was much more comfortable. He checked on Nyx one last time before opening the door, finding Annie not too far, leaning on the wall with her arms crossed.
He stopped in front of her. "If things go south, and you'll know, take Nyx and meet me back at our horses." He said, looking down at Annie.
Annie flew up to Liam's height. "They are already at the border ready for you and her."
Liam nodded his head and continued to walk, leaving Annie behind. "I trust you, don't fail me." He said back before disappearing around the corner.
"When have I ever?" Annie said back, flying to the door standing guard.
Liam walked down the branched stairs, meeting with the king. He was sitting on his throne dressed in festival attire, his belly hanging out a bit, holding a bottle of heavy liquor. Liam walked up to him and stopped at the stairs leading up, with one hand on his sword, and the other hand by his side.
"You wanted to see me, sir." Liam said with slight annoyance.
The king laughed, spilling some liquor on himself and the floor. He then stood up, his smile dissipating. "That was no human you brought in here, death." He said, emphasizing the word death.
"I don't know what you mean." Liam said, tilting his head.
"Don't play coy with me, boy!" He spat. "You know that forest only attracts special beings." He said, pulling out his sword while stumbling towards Liam.
Liam calmly took some steps back. "I told you, she is no threat."
The king burst into laughter. "What do you take me for, boy? A fool? That woman is the key to celestial power. Something Fae's has been looking for a millions of years!" He made it to the bottom of the stairs, throwing his drink on the floor, holding up his sword to Liam.
He didn't flinch. He just looked at the king. "She is on an important mission."
"Shut-up!" The king yelled. "Bring her to me, I need the power to finish the fae's journey to infinite power." He yelled, swinging at Liam.
Liam ducked, the king's sword missing him. Quickly, Liam drew his sword as the king swung at Liam again, this time aiming low. Liam stabbed his sword into the ground, looking up at the king, as a deep blue glow came out from them, striking fear into the king, making his stubble back onto the steps. Liam stood up straight as black smoke formed around everyone blinding them, Liam disappeared into the smoke. The king became furious as he couldn't see Liam anymore, as the deep black smoke dissipated.
"Agh! Find that devil!" He yelled at his guard as he struggled to stand up.
Liam ran to the room, seeing that Annie and Nyx were gone, hoping they made it to the horses safely. As he heard guards running down the hallway, he went into the room opening the balcony doors, jumping off the balcony, landing on the ground rolling into a sprint. He ran into the forest that they entered from the beginning with Annie. He kept running straight until he felt a hand grab his coat and pull him down into the grass, not too long after a group of Fae's flew over, missing Liam in the tall grass.
Liam looked over to see Nyx, as she was looking above with her purple eyes, and was back in her old clothes, making sure the coast was clear. Then she looked at him and smiled, standing up.
"Glad I caught you." She said, helping him up.
"You're awake?" He asked as they heard more Fae's coming.
"This way." Nyx said, grabbing Liam's hand, running in a different direction than before.
They continued to run until they met with Annie, who smiled and began to fly ahead, as Liam and Nyx followed behind. They finally made it to the horses as Liam helped Nyx get on her horse, and then he got on his swiftly. Annie flew up about the trees to see if she could find any Fae's. She flew down quickly.
"It looks all clear, go while you can." Annie said, shooing them off with her hands.
"Come with us." Nyx said to Annie.
Annie gave her a sad look. "I can't, I am bound here." She said, holding Nyx's shoulders.
"Besides, you'll find out more about yourself soon, and you have Liam to help and protect you." Annie said, looking at Liam seriously. "Now go, hurry." She finished, slapping Nyx's horse on the bottom, making them go.
Nyx looked back, worried for Annie, who flew into the forest, to distract the Fae Guards. They began to ride, their horse sprinting the path they were following before. Suddenly, two Fae guards appeared behind them, trying to shoot sleep potions at them. Nyx turned around with a bow loaded with two arrows, aiming at their wings. She let the arrows go as they landed their target, the Fae's collapsing to the ground with a huge thud. Nyx smiled, turning back around, and bow still in hand.
"We're almost there!" Liam yelled back to Nyx.
She looked ahead, seeing a desert road, the night sky clear ahead on the flat, treeless land. They kept riding as a relief flew over them as they passed the trees, entering the dry land. They looked back at the forest, seeing about Five Fae's flying above the tree's, looking down at them in disappointment. Nyx and Liam looked at each other, giving one another a victory smile before turning around and running, getting out of range on the Fae's.
Their horses sprinted for about thirty minutes before becoming tired. They decided they were far enough and got off their horses, walking next to them. They continued to walk as Nyx smiled upon the night sky, the stars above her shining brightly. 'Oh sky, how I missed you.' She thought to herself.
"You missed it didn't you?" Liam asked, watching Nyx admire the night sky.
"I did, It helps me escape the world here." She said, looking at Liam catching him staring at her, as he jerked his head away, looking in front of him.
She smiled, looking in front of her, making sure her path was clear, before looking back at the night sky.
"So what is our next location?" Nyx asked.
"The mother witches." He said calmly.
Nyx jerked her head, looking at Liam. "Mother witches!" She exclaimed.
"Yes, they are a tribe of peaceful witches. They are very knowledgeable and can help understand your abilities and more." He said, looking at Nyx, who calmed down.
"When will we get there?" Nyx asked.
"Soon, it should be nearby." Liam said, looking around on the ground.
Nyx looked around confused as to what Liam was looking for until she took another step falling into a trap.
"Ah!" Nyx yelled, falling with a thud, then covering her head as rocks and dirt fell.
"Nyx! Are you okay?" Liam yelled down, looking around for Nyx through the thick dust.
"Yea, I'm fine, I think I might've twisted my ankle." She replied, getting up dusting herself off.
"Oh, well, I have good news." Liam yelled down to Nyx.
"What would the good news be at this time?" Nyx said with an attitude.
"I found the entrance, the bad news. I just gotta get you out of that hole." He said, giving a mischievous smile, chuckling a little.
Nyx looked at Liam, raising an eyebrow rolling her eyes. Liam got up from the hole, grabbing a rope and throwing it down to Nyx. As soon as Nyx saw the rope, she began to climb it, meeting Liam at the top, tumbling into Liam's arms.
"You can be a little shit sometimes, you know that right." She told Liam, making him smile.
Myx tried to walk but fell to the ground, Liam catching her. He then picked her up like a little bride and began to carry her, making Nyx turn bright red. She looked forward, trying to hide her embarrassment, even though Liam was a little red, too. They began to move again, Liam scanning the ground with every step. They set off about three more traps but didn't fall into any. The traps were like a sinkhole but covered different areas of the ground. Some were small, and others were huge. Nyx couldn't handle the silence, especially with him carrying her so close.
"So how do you know these witches?" Nyx asked Liam, turning to face him, the redness disappearing slowly.
He sighed. "They took me in when I was a boy. I grew up with them and learned how to heal and help the sick, and when I felt big enough, I left and went on to help other sick people." He said, looking a little sad.
"Was this before you became an angel?" Nyx asked, making Liam stop and look at her. His eyes scanning her soft purple eyes, which seemed to show some sorrow.
"Yes, it was. I was lost for a long time." He said, walking forward again cautiously. Nyx wrapped her arms around Liam, throwing his emotions for a loop, and he began to show a little more embarrassment.
"They found me passed out in the desert, dehydrated, and hungry. So they took me, bathed me, fed me, and gave me a place to live." He finished looking at Nyx for a minute before looking forward again.
"They sound wonderful." Nyx smiled and looked forward with Liam, watching for traps.
Liam smiled at her, continuing forward. Suddenly, they saw a cloaked woman. She was sitting on a rock, holding a staff, her face completely covered by the cloak.
"It's been a long time, boy." The strange woman said, as Liam smiled.
"It sure has Olga." Liam smiled at the woman.
The woman brought up her head, revealing a beautiful, calming, old face. She was smiling as she removed the hood. "Welcome home, son."
