Liam woke up, surprised to see both Celia and Nyx out of bed. He got up, washed his mouth, got dressed, and placed his weapons accordingly on his person. He walked out of the small house and through the gate, leading back to the main part of the village.
He began walking back to the burt bakery, noticing Nyx getting two horses ready. His horse was black and tall, while Nyx was dark gray, white speckled, and almost the same size as Liams. She placed a bag over her horse, looking back at her mother, who handed her a medium bag. Nyx took it, tied it to the other side of her horse, and then she hugged her mother.
Liam made it to them.
"Oh good." She said, hugging Liam handing him the same looking bag as Nyx.
"This should last you until you reach your next stop." She said, backing away from them.
Nyx looked at Liam, looking a bit nervous. She gave a slight smile, turning and giving her mother one last hug.
"I will always love you. No matter how far you go, I'll be here waiting." She said, kissing her forehead before letting her go.
Nyx turned around, glancing at Liam, pulling herself up on her horse. Since her horse was so tall, she struggled a little bit, so Liam gave her a little push. As she sat down and got comfortable, he looked back at Celia.
"Take care of my daughter." She said, placing her hand on his arms.
"I will." He reassured her. " Thank you." he said after, holding up the bag of food, Celia nodded her head, placing her hands together.
Liam went to his horse, patting his horse on the neck. He tied the bag, given by Celia, on the other side to even out the luggage. He mounted his horse with ease, situating himself at the top. He looked at Nyx, waiting for her to be ready. She took a deep breath, looking at Liam nodding her head. Liam nodded back as they began to move forward.
Nyx looked straight ahead, concerned and confused, traveling with a stranger she met almost two days ago. She had so many emotions going on as well. She kept feeling a certain way about the stranger, and it confused her. She has met plenty of men in the village, at least, but she was never interested. They just weren't for her, and many of them always seemed scared even though she was always very nice, but this stranger. He was kind, caring, and wasn't too different from her. Maybe he would be interested too? She had a lot to think about and plenty of time to do it.
They traveled for a while in silence, but now Nyx couldn't take the silence anymore. She was traveling a little bit behind Liam. She didn't want him to catch her staring, although he already knew she was. She picked up her pace, catching up with Liam.
"So..." She started, trying to find a conversation starter. She was thinking and thinking fast, why didn't she think before she was right next to him. She can ask about the portal, yes that's good!
"What's up with the portal?" she asked, looking at Liam.
Liam looked at her, surprised she was trying to make conversation.
"The portal?" He asked, looking at Nyx.
"Yes, the portal. You said you needed my help, but I don't even know what it is I will be doing. All I know is that I don't want evil to win." She said, leaning down on her horse relaxing, tired from sitting up so long.
Liam took a deep breath. "Well the demon king, who is very devoted to Satan. Has figured out a way to open a portal close enough to heaven that they could try to break in." He said, looking forward again, ducking under a branch. "You are going to help me close it with both of our abilities."
"What happens if they reach heaven?" Nyx asked, sounding a bit scared.
'Oh, no, did I scare her?' Liam thought, he quickly turned his head, looking at Nyx. Her expression said it all. She looked worried, but not completely about the gates.
"We don't know how they will make the portal, but we know where. We just need to find out how they are making the portal. If they do succeed, life on earth will become completely dark, with the sun gone."
"That would kill everyone?" Nyx said, staring at the ground.
"Yes, it would." Liam said, pausing between his words, looking forward again.
He felt bad. He didn't want to scare her. God said her powers were immense, and she could darken or light the whole world.
"How much of your abilities have you discovered?" Liam asked, glancing back at Nyx. She sat up quickly.
"Ah, um." She started, trying to figure out what to say. "I mean, I never really had to use my abilities." She said, looking up at Liam.
"Then how did you know how to do those moves the other day?" He asked, giving Nyx a smirk.
She quickly looked away, blushing. Liam noticed and looked away, smiling. He knew what he did, and he was happy about it. He never fell I love, not even in his past life, but these feelings in his mind and heart are changing that. He knows he just met her, but she is so different and amazing. He couldn't help himself but protect her.
"There was a master fighter passing by, and he sensed my abilities, and saw me struggling, so he taught me to fight and control my abilities, and the blindfold and dance were part of that." She explained, looking back at Liam.
"So the blind fold was to conceal your energy." He asked.
"Yes, apparently my energy can be too much." She said, giggling to herself.
It went quiet again, and now Liam couldn't think of anything else but Nyx. He wanted to help her.
"How about we discover more of your abilities?" He asked, looking at her.
"Really, you'd help me with that?" She said with excitement.
"Of course, we can practice before we go to bed." He said, looking forward, seeing Nyx pump her arms in celebration in the corner of his eye. He smiled, knowing that she was happy.
They rode the whole day, stopping by a small river. They unpacked a few things and ate some of the food, given by Celia, they ate by a small fire, with the small river not too far.
"We will practice after we are done eating." Liam announced.
"Practice?" Nyx questioned, already forgetting.
"Yes, we will work on your abilities, so eat up, you're gonna be tired after." He said, looking at her.
She nodded her head as a smile appeared on her face, eating her food quickly, excited to learn more about what she was capable of.
