"the plan is just to hit and run out of here. those things are toying with us. And since they aren't killing us quickly, we can use the scattered branches on the ground to stab them in the head while running."
"That is a bad idea, but I can't think of anything better, so if we're going to do this, we might as well drop the old man here," Aqrim said, getting ready to drop the sleeping grandpa on the ground.
"woah, let's not do that yet. if things get troublesome, we can use him as bait to have a better chance of escaping," I said, stopping him before he could drop gramps to the ground.
Before Aqrim could drop him on the ground, "You have a point."
"now hurry up and get the sharpest branch you have," I yelled while grabbing the sharpest branch from the snowy ground. "let's run to the left since there are fewer of them there.
Now running left, I looked back, and I could see them; they weren't chasing us at all but just standing there and giggling like kids playing tag on a grassy field. Then I suddenly felt a shocking pain in my left shoulder. I looked at it and a small chunk of it was bitten off. Now I have a bloody shoulder and a missing pinky.
"AH FUCK THEY GOT MY SHOULDER!" I screamed in pain, but it was somewhat bearable since the cold temperatures were numbing the pain.
Looking to my left, I saw two of those things next to each other. one of them had my pinky finger and was nibbling on it while smiling at me, and the other one was also doing the same to my shoulder.
"Those fuckers sure do love messing with us and all."
I realized something all of this time: those things only came after me; they ate my finger and my shoulder but never the demon or gramps. "hey aqrim, you go and stab them for some reason; they aren't targeting you, and only me."
"What about gramps?"
"they're not targeting him either; just go on ahead and start stabbing them in the head with a branch."
As I said, he went on ahead of me and ran up to one of them, taking the branch and stabbing it right in its left eye. But the thing didn't scream, and the others weren't moving either; they just kept standing there.
The only good thing that did was that it stopped them from giggling and laughing. "i think they're getting angry now. get ready to run."
"That was a horrible idea." He said with a calm expression, like none of it had fazed him at all.
"yeah, well, that was the best idea i had; don't complain now and start running," I said as I was running straight ahead of us with no direction.
I looked back again, and they weren't chasing us anymore but were still standing there. It didn't matter how far we ran; even if it felt like hours, they were still right behind us doing nothing.
Soon we ran non-stop, but that was the end of it; for hours and hours of running, they were right behind us. But they weren't chasing us anymore, just following us for no reason.
"i think they lost interest in us; they haven't been coming at us for a long time."
"That or they just let us go; there's no reason for them to stop attacking us when we were only stabbing one of them in the eye."
"Let's not dwell on it too long. Let's find something to shelter us or maybe other people to help us."
...
We were walking for what felt like hours. Nothing on site, just dead trees, snow, and mountains. "i think we're not going to find anything here."
"Well, we better, or else the only thing we have to eat is this grandpa here." He pointed to the sleeping gramps on the ground. "
"when is he going to wake up? it's been forever since he fell asleep."
"If he's sleeping, that means he won't feel pain; we're eating him." He said with a creepy grin. "
"you are the worst companion, you know that? at least have some compassion?"
