Chapter 16 - home

They arrived in front of her home, she was about to let herself out of the car the handsome driver opened the door at her side and picked up her bag, "Mi lady" he said with a charming smile stepping aside for her to get out

Leslie blushed slightly 'if this all an act he's really good' she thought returning the smile, getting off Leslie stretched her hand to ask for her bag "thank you, I live right here so I'll take it from here"

"I would love to walk you to your front door if you don't mind" he said, there's no way he was going to leave her here even if she was just five steps away from her front door, Adrian would take his head for sure, his smile faltered a little thinking about it.

Leslie stared strangely at him, she was just few steps away from her house, she was about to insist on taking her bag

"Is it that house over there?" He asked walking to her home, Leslie had no other choice but to follow him, when they arrived at her front door he already rang her doorbell

Leslie tried not to express how strange she felt the way he behaved, it felt strange and she guessed he would rather do anything else than bring her to her front door.

The door clicked open, her mom stood behind the opened door, tears stained face and red swollen eyes greeted Leslie "les..is that you", Leslie's heart dropped looking at her mother's teary eyes, forgetting all about the strange guys weird behaviour she reached out and hugged her mom

"Mom, it's okay don't cry I'm here now alright" Leslie said softly patting her mom's back to calm her down, "hic...where have you been, I called your phone...hic...it wasn't getting through" her mom, hugged her tight the tears flowing down uncontrollable, she thought she lost her daughter, she was soo worried the thought of loosing Leslie broke her heart.

Leslie's heart clenched as she slowly pat her mom's back to calm her down, the last thing she ever wanted was to see her mother cry "its okay Mom, I'm here now and I'm completely fine I'll explain what happened when we get inside, okay?" Leslie said letting go of her mother, turning to the handsome stranger, she smiled not happy he just saw that

"Thank you soo much, for taking the trouble to drop me off at my front door" she said taking her bag from him, returning the smile he bowed slightly "its a pleasure miss" handing her the bag he watched as she walked inside and closed the door. His smile fell 'very interesting' he thought walking back to the car and driving off.

Leslie walked her mother to the couch sitting her down "I'll get you some water mom" she said walking to the kitchen to get a cup of water, walking back he handed the cup to her mom who was sniffing, taking a sit beside her mother she proceeded to explain, "Mom it's alright I just decided to stay at a friend's place for the night...I wasn't hurt in anyway" she had to use the excuse of getting water to think of a lie

Taking a sip from the cup her mom looked up at her with a teary face "you didn't call me to tell me you weren't coming back"

"Ohhh that I'm sorry, my phone died so I had to plug it in, I just got it this morning" Leslie explained praying Adrian did just that unless she'll be caught trying to explain a lie, "don't ever make me worry soo much les...I...." Leslie reached out and hugged her mum "I'm soo sorry mom...it won't happen again" she said holding her until she finally calmed down.

Finally letting go, her mom looked at her "so what are you wearing and when did you plan to tell me about your handsome friend" the questions started, Leslie thought she would escape this one but apparently her mom was always soo nosy when it came to men and her, rubbing the back of her neck she didn't know how to tell her mum he was a driver and she didn't even know his name 'damn why did I forget' she thought fighting the urge to slap her head. "About the dress I borrowed it from my friend...the decision was soo sudden that I had nothing else to wear, and that guy was her brother he was kind enough to drop me off" she lied again with a smile, she laughed internally, she never thought she had it in her to weave such beautiful stories.

Her mum stared at her intensely as if checking if she could see the truth through her head "you have a very nice friend, you should get to know her brother" she said, startling Leslie "ohhh no mum, I can't make a pass at my friend's brother",

"Why not he looks like a good guy and you won't be single forever" her mum nagged, Leslie had the urge to roll her eyes getting up, she confirmed that her mum was back to normal "I'm tired I need to rest mum, I'm just twenty I've got enough time" she said walking to the stairs leading to her room. "It's never too early to find a boyfriend les" her mum yelled, as she walked away "and your friend has great taste, you should take fashion advice from her" her mom yelled again.

"You gotta be kidding me" Leslie rolled her eyes as she opened the door to her room, getting in, she dropped her sling bag, taking a sip from the bottle of water and placing it on her table. She took out her phone, going through it "fully charged, not bad" she said unlocking it, she had a couple of missed calls from jake and her mum, she stopped scrolling when her eyes caught sight of a new number she creased her brows, trying to remember when she got a number.

while in thought a text came in from the number, 'hello intern, I trust you have safely reached your home' Leslie raised an eyebrow, offcourse the cocky boss of hers, switching off her phone she dropped it on the bed and laid down.

'You should keep your distance from the fallen' Uriel said.
