Chapter 19 - lunch

"This is all I got from her background boss" Mace said setting down a file on Adrian's desk.

Picking the file Adrian opened it looking through it "there's nothing much in here, and there's nothing about her background" Adrian closed the file, relaxing on his chair he looked at Mace waiting for an explanation

Taking it as a que to explain further "I looked everywhere but her background is blank, apparently its just her mom she's had her whole life" Mace said pushing his glasses up his nose. Adrian thought deep, he suspected something would be off about her, he didn't know it would begin with her background

Sitting up he gazed at Mace "Investigate her mother, I have a feeling her mom isn't who she says she is" Adrian Commanded

"Yes sir, I'll take my leave first" bowing slightly he left the office

Adrian turned to the glass wall behind him where his desk was located, looking at the clear blue sky, a slight smirk formed on his lips "she really doesn't know when to rest, does she?".

Leslie walked down the hallway, she eas halfway through fixing the design, when hunger suddenly called, she was on her way to the company's cafeteria to get herself something to eat

But getting there seemed to be a hassle, why did she have to put up with these stupid thoughts, she didn't mind everyone staring but why do they all want to eat her alive

'Can't believe she fainted right in front of the boss'

'That was a scheme to get his attention'

'Maybe cause she's a nobody and terribly wants to be recognise'

'What a bitch, I'm going to take care of her'

Leslie turned pale with all the threats and insults, its not like she planned to faint in front that guy, she creased her brows "you gotta be kidding me, Uriel can you block out those voices" she said. Making her voice low enough so no one else could hear her

She couldn't take it and why did walking to the cafeteria seem to take forever "the ears are yours you have learn to do that yourself" Uriel replied making Leslie want to give him a punch

"You're pretty useless for an angel who couldn't save me, and can't even block my mind from hearing thoughts" Leslie complained

'If you want to block out unwanted thoughts, you have to meditate more' Uriel replied not sounding fazed by her remark

'Tch...annoying much' Leslie thought,

The voices were becoming annoying, stopping on her tracks, she began to wonder how she will survive in the cafeteria when almost all the workers were there

Letting out a deep sigh, she decided she couldn't take it. Turning around to leave, she couldn't risk fainting again

"Not hungry?" Leslie looked up at the person standing right in front of her, her brows twitched staring at Adrian, bowing slightly to greet him "Uhhhh...I lost my appetite boss" she replied

Adrian arched his brows, he remembered telling her not to call him that "I was about to go out for lunch, follow me" he said turning around and walking away, Leslie watched his figure dumbfounded, did his just give other workers more reasons to hate her, especially the ladies.

He didn't even give her a chance to make an excuse to not go, fighting the urge to bang her head somewhere she tried to catch up with him

'Did the boss just invite her for lunch'

'I was here before her, seems like it's time to show her who's senior'

'She really did scheme, what a sly fox'

Finally catching up with him, this was a completely different car from the one that took her home, she shouldn't be surprised she was sure there were roughly 10 to 20 cars in the garage

Adrian got into the driver's seat, Leslie watched as he started the car, seeing that Leslie was still standing he rolled down his window "did you suddenly decide to walk to the restaurant, it would be great exercise but I warn you it's not close by" he said, sarcasm dripping from his words, Leslie glared at him trying hard not to retort

Walking to the passenger seat at his side she got in, putting on her seat belt they drove out.

Reaching the restaurant Adrian parked the car and they walked in, a waitress immediately came to show them their table, taking them into a private room seemed like it was reserved for VIPs

Ushering them into their private reservation the waitress bowed and left, looking around the room, Leslie couldn't help the shock. The place looked like a whole other part of the restaurant didn't even seem like a part of the restaurant more like a lounge with a couch, a very beautiful view of the sky by the glass window that took up the space of the wall, a flat screen TV and a table in the middle of the room.

Adrian stood in front of the couch staring at the blue sky, he seemed to like the view of the sky, Leslie thought, "are you planning to stand there the whole time" Adrian said, Making Leslie walk to the couch and sit, Adrian sat down after she did.

After few minutes the came back with tea on a tray placing it on the table she passed them the menu with a bow "what would you like to have sir" the waitress asked Adrian, Leslie noticed she only paid more attention to Adrian but its not like she cared "I'll have whatever she's taking" Adrian said giving the waiter back the menu, Leslie glanced at him she has never been to a fancy restaurant to know what they eat, looking back at the menu she picked food that seemed familiar and didn't cost alot

The waiter stole glances at her, she wondered who the lady their young master brought was, didn't seem like someone important that was why she didn't pay attention to her, but the Young master didn't usually bring women to the restaurant

After giving her orders Leslie passed the menu back to the waitress, bowing slightly the waitress left the room, "everyone seems to hate me because of you" Leslie said

"Get used to it" Adrian said he was on his phone going through something, Leslie raised her eyebrows "yes boss" she replied making Adrian stop pressing his phone staring at her, his eyes turned cold "what did I say about addressing me" Leslie turned to him "there's no way I'm calling you by your name, I'm already in enough shit just by you taking me for lunch" Leslie retorted

"Are you scared they would pick on you, no one is allowed to do that except me" Adrian said his aura getting colder, Leslie stared at him, she wondered why he had such a temper, "I'm not scared anyone would pick on me, I just don't want more attention" Leslie replied "like I said get used to it" Adrian retorted taking a sip of his tea, dropping the cup he added "you're going to have more attention from now on", Leslie felt a shiver run down her spine was it her imagination or did she see the murderous look in his eyes

Picking up the cup of tea, she wondered what Adrian was capable of and why Uriel called him dangerous.
