Hearing the door open Leslie contemplated pretending to be asleep or just staring at the person coming in, she had a feeling it was jake cause who else cared enough to check on her.
She stayed silent for a while listening to the footsteps approach, those didn't sound like jake's footsteps they were more overbearing like every step commanded respect, realising that she decided to pretend to be asleep. Shutting her eyes and trying to even her breath...the footsteps stopped. She felt the presence of the person right beside the bed she lay, the silence was stifling Leslie could clearly hear her own heart beat, why did she feel like she would be killed any second.
"I know you're not asleep...open your eyes" the deep voice reverberated in the silence making her hold her breath, she gulped silently, slowly opening her eyes she was met with the striking blue eyes that looked like it would pierce right through her soul if she continued lying there.
"Lying down while your boss stands, you do have guts intern" he said glaring at the lady that looked like she was traumatised just by staring at him. Alarmed Leslie attempted to get up as fast as she could, with the intent of greeting her boss but she was met with dizziness making her sit right down on the bed.
Bowing her head immediately "I...I am sorry boss I...it won't happen again" Leslie stuttered, she felt overwhelmed by his mere presence, she kept her head down not daring to look up at him from fear.
Adrian stared down at the Young intern who looked like she was expecting death from his hands, he wanted to laugh, he had this effect on everyone but he didn't expect that the one possessed by the angel of war would do the same 'tsk how weak' he thought.
"Raise your head intern" Adrian commanded, Leslie slowly raised her head staring at his face she was met with an intimidating stare from her boss sitting right in front of her, staring silently she gulped suddenly realising she was thirsty, she didn't even care where the chair came from, all she wanted was to shrink back or better vanish from his presence.
Sitting with her head raised she attempted avoid his gaze looking at everywhere else but him, with her fingers intertwined together.
"You must be thirsty" she heard him say looking at him there was a glass of water in his hand stretched towards her, shifting her gaze from the glass and him thinking hard if she should collect the glass of water from his hand, "it seems like I was wrong...given your hesitation" he said about to put it away, hearing this she quickly raised her two hands accepting the glass of water with a bow, whispering a thank you she began to gulp the water like she was deprived of it for years.
"It seems Uriel has really fallen from heights to be this weak" Adrian stated making Leslie choke on the water, patting her chest while coughing she was startled by the sudden statement, wondering how he knew, still coughing from shock Adrian took the glass from her placing it on a platform beside him "you should be more careful while drinking water...you're still very weak" Adrian commented deliberately emphasizing on the weak trying to spite the angel.
Whatever this dude was trying to do was working cause she could feel the rage burning inside her, which was definitely not hers, "I wonder who finally got the almighty archangel of war Uriel to be stuck inside a body of a weak human" he continued speaking his face looked cold and aloof but his tone mocking, Leslie thought that if she looked closely she would see a smirk on his face but she had no time for that, currently she had no idea how to respond cause the statement wasn't directed at her 'feign ignorance' she heard Uriel say, 'what?!!...you want him to kill me' Leslie screamed at him in her head 'he won't...just do as I say' Uriel replied, Leslie felt the call of death in her head, she had the urge to cry out of frustration.
With all this things going on inside her head she tried to look very oblivious of what he said like she has no idea of whom Adrian was speaking of "I'm truly sorry...but I am not Uriel sir, you must have gotten the wrong person" she said looking puzzled 'wrong person my foot.. I look nothing like a man' Leslie thought.
Adrian narrowed his eyes at her bold remark, she would definitely win an Oscar with her performance "fascinating thought intern" he stated crossing his long legs while supporting his chin with his palm, staring at her, a glint of interest flashed in his eyes.
Leslie kept her oblivious look like she had no idea what he was speaking about but the same couldn't be said with what was going on in her head, she was panicking, would this be her last day on earth, if she died who's going to take care of her mother, why her, tears were attempting to fill up her eyes but she tried to hold it back she couldn't expose herself.
Seeing the tears forming in her eyes Adrian let out a small chuckle, a smirk formed on his well sculptured face and his eyes brightened, deciding to play along he stood up "it does seem like I got the wrong person" he said staring down at her.
"Recover well intern...you'll need all the strength you can get" he said finally leaving the clinic.
Hearing the door close, Leslie let out a breath she had no idea she was holding falling back on the bed, she felt she had just escaped death, but she knew he was only playing along and he knew. 'All the strength I need' she wondered what he meant by that, closing her eyes she decided to rest...that was enough pressure for today.
