Chapter 7 - THE FAMILY'S TREASURE

" Enough with the talk of deep" Ivy said as she mimicked the Principal.

Simon laughed and tapped her shoulder. " The look on her face was priceless".

They continued laughing and headed towards their class.

The final bell rang, and as Simon packed his bag, Ivy approached him. She asked him to meet her at her place, later in the day, so they could return to the old witch and find out what their next quest would entail.

Simon hesitated for a moment, he shook his head and looked at Ivy with a playful grin. "Ivy you know the face of that woman scares the living daylight out of me, even Chucky doesn't scare me that much. I guess you should go alone this time".

Ivy pouted her lower lips and widened her eyes persuasively.

"Oh come on Ivy! Don't give me that look. It's not gonna work this time" he said ,looking away.

"A rose and chocolate" she said, with a slight grin on her face.

Simon sighed. " You know what you're doing is pure blackmail right? Ok, I'll join you this time, but don't expect me to keep a straight face when I see that mother of Chucky", he laughed.

Ivy waved him goodbye, and she headed home with Jasmine.

On their way home, curiosity got the better of Jasmine. She couldn't help but ask why the principal had called Ivy and Simon into her office earlier. Ivy decided to fill her in on the details, without neglecting a single word.

" I wish i was there to see the look on her face" Jasmine laughed.

"I was literally cracking up in my mind. It was so hard to stop myself from laughing" Ivy said .

Their conversation went on until they got home. They were greeted by an inviting aroma of a freshly cooked meal. Cecilia, who had just finished preparing lunch, looked at Ivy with concern.

"Why didn't you join us for dinner last night, Ivy ? Is everything alright?" She asked.

Ivy smiled and quickly thought of an excuse, exchanging a playful wink with Jasmine. "Oh Auntie, I was just exhausted. Simon and I have been working on a special project, but don't worry, I'll have dinner tonight".

Satisfied with Ivy's response, her aunt nodded and they went to their rooms.

Later in the day, Simon made his way to Ivy's house. Cecilia was in the sitting room when Simon arrived. " What's that aroma I perceive? Good afternoon Mrs Harrison!" he greeted, sniffing around.

Celilia laughed. " Simon! I made lunch some hours ago, how's it possible that you still perceive the aroma?"

"You see, this nose could even sniff out your deepest, darkest secrets, Mrs Harrison. Don't underestimate the power of my nose" , he bluffed.

She grinned and shook her head. " Ivy! Simon's here" Cecilia called out.

"I'll be down in a minute" Ivy responded.

Ivy asked Jasmine if she wanted to go with them, but Jasmine was still abit apprehensive about joining them, and she insisted on staying behind. Ivy playfully teased her, promising not to share any more tales of their adventures with her.

Jasmine whimpered playfully "Don't forget that I'm your backbone and cover woman ".

Ivy smiled and went downstairs. They were prepared to leave and Cecilia reminded Ivy to return home early, so she wouldn't miss dinner.

Ivy and simon made their way through the dense woods towards the old witch's hut. When the entered the hut, it seemed akwardly quiet. The silence gave Simon goosebumps.

"Ivy, maybe we should return. It seems the old witch has finally joined her ancestors" he whispered, trying to lighten the tense atmosphere.

Just as simon finished his sentence, the old witch appeared, before them, causing them to jump in fright .

"Holy mother of Chucky!" Simon shouted , trying to hold onto Ivy.

He asked the witch why she had to startle them like that.

"That's what you get for coming here unannounced. Next time, knock on the door three times before entering", she smirked.

Ivy reached into her bag and retrieved the fragment of the phalanges she had broken at the graveyard. She handed it over to the witch, who cackled in delight.

"Ah! You are stronger and smarter than you appear", the witch said, her voice filled with a mysterious tone.

Simon , eager for recognition, chimed in, " Dont forget, I played a major role in retrieving that bone fragment too!"

He tried to catch the witch attention but she simply ignored him, causing Simon to shrug, and he nudged Ivy playfully. "Looks like someone misses their son, Chucky. I mean why then will she have to detest me so much", he whispered with a grin.

Ivy chuckled but she quickly composed herself. She asked the witch about their next assignment. The old witch leaned in closer, her eyes gleamed with ancient wisdom.

"The next quest would be easy, yet you must be smart about it" she said cryptically

Simon couldn't help but interject. "Easy you say? Nothing that ever comes from your ancient mouth is easy. So don't you dare play with our minds old woman!", he said .

"Make sure to leave this halfwit outside the next time you come here", the woman said , as she turned her attention back to Ivy.

" My dear, you must bring forth one of your family's most valuable heirloom. It signifies the strength of your ancestors", she added.

Ivy nodded, taking in the witch's word.

With a polite farewell, she bid the old witch adieu, promising to return with her family's heirloom.

"Bye, mother Gothel.. hoping not to see your face anytime from now", Simon laughed, as they headed out.

It was exactly time for dinner when they arrived at Ivy's house. Cecilia warmly invited Simon to join them for the meal.

Simon jokingly replied, "Even though I'm not hungry, I can't decline your request, Mrs Harrison, besides it would be a crime to miss out on your amazing cooking!".

At the table, Ambrose asked how Simon's dad was doing.

Simon said "Well, apart from the fact that the old man's getting bad knees, he's doing just fine".

Laughter filled the room. Ambrose told Simon that he looked so much like his dad, when he was younger.

"That's not a good way to tell me that I might get bad knees , when I get older" Simon grinned.

They enjoyed their delightful dinner together, engaging in lively conversations and sharing more humorous stories. The atmosphere was so joyful, the happiness in their faces was very evident.
