Alex's POV:
As we drove to Jenny's house, the soft hum of the Porsche's engine and the warm glow of the dashboard lights enveloped us in a cozy cocoon. The scent of leather and the faint hint of my cologne filled the air, mingling with the sweet aroma of Jenny's perfume.
We glided through the streets, the city lights blurring together like a kaleidoscope of colors. The cool night air rushed past us, carrying the distant sounds of laughter and music from the party we had left behind.
As we turned into Jenny's neighborhood, the streets grew quieter, the houses farther apart. The trees loomed above us, their branches swaying gently in the breeze like nature's own ballet.
We pulled up to Jenny's gate, and I killed the engine. The sudden silence was almost palpable, broken only by the sound of crickets and the distant hum of a car driving by.
Jenny got out of the car, her heels clicking on the pavement as she walked to the gate. I followed her, my eyes fixed on the gentle sway of her hips.
But when she reached the gate, she stopped, confusion etched on her face. "Locked?" she muttered, trying the gate again. "Tasha, are you there?" she called out, her voice rising in concern.
The sound of her voice echoed through the stillness, punctuated by the creaking of the trees and the distant bark of a dog.
As the reality of the situation sunk in, Jenny turned to me, her eyes resigned. "You can leave now. I'll wait for my friend to come."
But I shook my head, my eyes locked on hers. "I was told to ensure you got inside safely. Since the gate is locked, you can spend the night at my house."
Jenny hesitated, then suggested, "No, Sir, we can just pretend you saw me entering the gate, so you can leave."
I chuckled, my eyes crinkling at the corners. "Miss, that won't work on me. I'm taking you home."
Without another word, she quietly followed me back to the Porsche, and we drove off into the night, the city lights blurring together once more.
Jenny POV:
As I stepped out of the Porsche, I couldn't help but gasp at the breathtaking villa before me. The exterior design was flawless, with sleek lines and elegant curves that seemed to dance in the moonlight. The compound was immaculately manicured, with lush greenery and vibrant flowers that filled the air with their sweet fragrance. I stood there, transfixed by the sheer grandeur of the villa, until Alex's voice broke the spell. "Let's go," he said, his deep tone sending a shiver down my spine.
As we entered the villa, I was struck by the perfect interior designs. The furniture was sleek and modern, the paintings on the walls were masterpieces, and the aroma of freshly baked cookies wafted through the air, making my stomach growl with hunger. The workers greeted us with warm smiles, their voices echoing through the spacious hallway. "Welcome, young boss," they chimed in unison.
Alex led me to the guest room, where a warm smile from Mrs. Qilin awaited us. "Has the boy arrived?" he asked, his eyes scanning the room. "Yes, he's in his room, maybe sleeping," she replied. "We made sure he ate."
As I changed into the comfortable clothes provided, I couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder at the luxurious villa. The softness of the bed, the freshness of the towels, and the sweet scent of the toiletries all conspired to make me feel like royalty.
Downstairs, Alex was already eating, his fork moving with lightning speed as he devoured his food. I stared, mesmerized by his perfect face, those lips... "Are you done staring?" he asked, his voice breaking the spell and sending a flush to my cheeks.
I quickly looked away, my heart racing. "I wasn't staring, I was just looking because there was something on your face," I stammered. He stood up, his eyes glinting with amusement, and came closer, his breath whispering against my ear. "Then help me remove it," he said, his voice low and husky.
My heart skipped a beat as I touched his lips, pretending to remove an invisible speck. His scent enveloped me, a heady mix of cologne and masculinity that left me breathless. I had to pretend, I told myself, but my lips tingled with the desire to kiss him. "Thanks," he said, his eyes crinkling at the corners, before he quickly turned and went upstairs, leaving me to eat my food in silence.
Alex POV
I had to leave before I did something I would regret. At first, I had only intended to use her for my own interests, nothing more. But why did she make me feel this way? No girl had ever piqued my interest, but she had. Her sparkling eyes, her bright smile, and her infectious laughter all captivated me. I found myself wanting more, wanting to know her, to be near her. But I couldn't let that happen. I needed to stop getting close to her. I wasn't someone capable of love. My past had seen to that.
I entered my study room, shutting the door behind me and leaning against it to catch my breath. The soft glow of the desk lamp cast a warm light on the dark wood, and the scent of old books and leather filled the air. I called Leo, my voice firm and commanding. "Any report?"
"Yes, boss," he replied, his voice crisp and clear. "We've captured the person who burnt down your warehouse. We're waiting for your order, boss."
"Make him speak," I growled, my mind racing with possibilities. "I don't care what methods you use, but don't kill him."
"Okay, boss," Leo said, his tone hesitant. "I have something to tell you again."
"Go on," I said, my gut telling me I already knew what he would say.
"I think I know who's behind all this," Leo said, his voice barely above a whisper. "It's Mr. Rugard. We found a trace, and it linked back to him. I think he's warning us that he can do anything to you."
My grip on the phone tightened, my knuckles white with rage. "Okay," I said, my voice cold and calculated. "I'm coming to the underground cave tomorrow."
"Be careful, boss," Leo warned.
I ended the call, my mind racing with plans and strategies. Mr. Rugard, you've messed with the wrong person. I will make sure you pay for everything you burnt in that warehouse. The game is over. Watch out for me, Rugard.
