Chapter 21 - Chapter 21

Jenny POV:

As I stood before the grand entrance of Grande's Group, the gate man asked, "How may I help you, miss?"

I straightened my shoulders, my heart pounding with anticipation. "I'm here to see Mr. Alex," I said, my voice clear and confident.

The gate man nodded, opening the gate wide for me to enter. "Come in," he said, his voice firm but polite.

I stepped through the gate and onto the pristine grounds, my eyes widening as I took in the breathtaking scenery. The lawn was immaculately manicured, with vibrant flowers blooming in every corner. The gate man directed me to the main building, and I stood there for a moment, gazing up at its magnificent facade.

As I entered the building, I was struck by the elegant atmosphere. The interior was sleek and modern, with polished marble floors and towering ceilings. The air was filled with the soft hum of productivity, and the scent of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air.

I approached the reception desk, where two ladies with impeccable style and poise were arranging files. They looked up as I approached, their eyes sparkling with warmth.

"Good afternoon," I said, my voice smooth. "I'm looking for Mr. Alex."

The ladies exchanged a glance, their expressions professional. "May I ask your name, please?" one of them asked, her voice melodious.

I hesitated for a moment before responding, "I'm Jenny. We... uh... met recently."

The two ladies looked at me with wide eyes, their gazes filled with a mix of curiosity and surprise. They whispered to each other, their voices barely audible, before one of them asked, "Did you make an appointment with Mr. Alex?"

I shook my head, feeling a hint of nervousness. "No, I didn't."

The lady smiled warmly and leaned in, her voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "Well, we could let you see him since you're the girl everyone is talking about on social media. It would be bad if you're an important person to our boss and we didn't attend to you."

She straightened up and gestured for me to follow her. "Please, come with me."

I trailed behind her as we entered the elevator, which whisked us away to the 32nd floor. The doors slid open, revealing a sleek and modern office space with floor-to-ceiling windows that offered breathtaking views of the city skyline. The air was filled with the soft hum of productivity and the scent of freshly brewed coffee.

We approached a large wooden door, and the lady knocked softly. "Come in," a deep voice called out from within.

The lady pushed open the door and announced, "Sir, Miss Jenny is here to see you."

I stepped inside, my eyes adjusting to the warm lighting of the office. Alex looked up from his laptop, his gaze locking onto mine with an intensity that made my heart skip a beat.

"Prepare coffee for her," he said, his voice firm but polite, and the lady nodded before exiting the room.

"Sit," Alex said, his eyes never leaving mine, and I sank into the plush chair opposite his desk, feeling a sense of trepidation wash over me.

"I'm here to talk to you about what happened today," I said, my voice firm but polite.

Alex looked up from his laptop, his expression calm and detached. "I'm all ears," he said, his voice devoid of emotion.

The lady entered with a steaming cup of coffee and handed it to me. I gulped down the hot liquid, feeling a surge of caffeine coursing through my veins.

"Julia has apologized for what she did, so I've sent her the money back," I began. "All I want is for you to cancel the document."

Alex raised an eyebrow, his expression unyielding. "Miss Jenny, I'm the one who gets to make decisions around here. And you have to respect that."

I felt a surge of frustration but pressed on. "But—"

"The file is on top of the filing cabinet," Alex said, his voice cutting me off. He gestured vaguely towards the cabinet, his eyes already back on his laptop.

I got up and approached the cabinet, scanning the files stacked on top. Alex's voice whispered in my ear, "You won't find it."

I spun around, and he was already beside me, his eyes glinting with amusement. He plucked a file from the stack and handed it to me. "This is it. You can choose to do anything you want with it."

His breath whispered against my ear, sending shivers down my spine. I took the file, my heart racing with excitement.

"Thanks," I said, backing away from him.

Alex nodded curtly and returned to his laptop, dismissing me.

I left his office, feeling a mix of relief and gratitude. I couldn't believe it had been that easy talking to him. He had agreed to cancel the document without a fight.

I entered the elevator, and it whisked me away to the ground floor. I stepped out of the company building, feeling a sense of closure and new beginnings.
