"It's not possible."
The flow of my voice wavered a bit on this discovery. There was silence in the room for a moment before it was broken by the creaking of the door. Rachel pushed the door opened with her hips and walked in.
She held a tray of food and smiled graciously looking at me. It was like the heavens shone as she wore a beautiful smile on her face towards me.
"Oh that's right, you two haven't met yet, Rachel meet Xavier and Xavier meet Rachel. She's the same age as you."
Xerxes informed me the moment Rachel dropped the tray on the side table.
"Nice to meet you Xavier, I hope your doing better?"
Rachel spoke still wearing the gorgeous smile on her face, I struggled to respond because my left eye was fixated on Rachel like I was locked on target.
We were the same age and yet her chest had grown so nice as well as her nicely curved ass. She possessed so many similarities to my mother, asides being the same age.
"I'll be alright."
I finally mustered up the courage to say something. I looked Xerxes in the eye and initially I was thinking he is a pedophile, hiring underage girls to work for him.
"I take it she's also a mage?"
Xerxes crossed his hands before drawing his lips sideways creating a smile.
"You figured that out already huh?, she's my apprentice. But she's also a very skilled water mage."
I scratched the back of my head chuckling nervously, I initially assumed this man had interests in far younger girls but I was way off.
I arose from the bed and did a couple of stretches just before I raised my left hand a bit to stare at my palm..
"You said I'm a wind mage right, how come I didn't notice it till now?"
In the ears of Xerxes, it sounded like a good yet a simple question with an obvious answer.
"At the age of five every individual blessed with an affinity for magic, manifests it under a certain criteria. Rachel was calm, caring and had no transgressions in her heart, her spirit flowed like the essence of water and she awakened her water prowess."
Xerxes paused, he seemed to have gotten a bit too serious just by telling a story.
"You however, at the age of five you suffered two tragedies in a single day, it was the day you also lost the use of your right eye. Your mind was thrown into a state of uneasiness, you followed the path of the unknown to find an answer just like the wind takes us to wherever it goes."
I turned around to face Xerxes who concluded his statement with a dirty smile written all over his face, it was most likely appealing to him that we possessed the same magic type.
"Your path became the path of the wind, then you unlocked wind magic, however several years gone by without training your power is yet to bloom. But now I will help you with that, do you accept being my apprentice?"
It happened faster than expected, Xerxes had offered to train me. I mean who better to teach me magic than a wind mage who literally attained the rank of a Beast Sage, one of the most powerful magic users in existence.
I gazed upon my right hand, folding it into a fist and releasing it in a repeated motion, it was still hard to believe what Xerxes had said but I couldn't deny what my eyes witnessed first hand.
"If that's the only way to harness and control my magic then yes, I accept."
I accepted his proposal, mainly because if I didn't I'd have to pay for food and water. I was a homeless kid so with this privilege offered to me I couldn't refuse.
"Splendid, we start right away. However you have to show me what you can do, how well can you fight. To master the magical arts you must first master your spirit and body. Rachel will be your opponent."
Xerxes spoke and Rachel had this innocent smile that sent chills down my spine, it's one thing sparring with a woman but fighting her without knowing how to use magic? Yeah I'll be joining my family far sooner than anticipated.
A couple of minutes had passed and we all were present at the backyard of the inn, I was left dumbfounded however as I slowly pointed right behind Rachel.
"Why the hell is there a huge container filled with water?"
Xerxes looked at the container behind Rachel and laughed a bit at my delusions.
"She's a water mage, any source of water is her weapon, however it's not water, it's wine."
Xerxes laughed again before taking a cup that was next to the container and filling it with wine from inside the container. He walked towards a chair placed at the sidelines and sat down crossing his legs.
"Begin."
As he ordered the start of the training session I was left in confusion, how much of a drinker was this dude? a container filled with wine? You have got to be kidding me.
Rachel didn't waste anytime delaying the instant the training session commenced, when I came to be I found Rachel right in front of me. She drove her right leg towards the side of my face and almost instinctively I raised my left arm up to block against her kick.
When her right leg connected with my arm, my left eye was spread wide at the amount of power that she used in that attack, I was driven backwards to the ground ejecting saliva from my mouth. I groaned slightly, it felt as if though I was hit by weights weighing up to 12kg.
"If this is how you fight Rachel is gonna kill you. In all my years of fighting, even 100 years ago, I've not seen someone as terrible as you."
Xerxes laughed as he spoke before drinking his wine.
"Wait what!?, a 100 years!?"
On the ground I was astonished, that man had lived more than a 100 years?? my astonishment was interrupted by the current move of Rachel.
"Aqua Canon."
She muttered softly as she joined her hands together, magic properties was infused in her hands, instantly six circles were visible in the air above her head.
She took a glance at me and huge rays of pressurized water were ejected at me one by one from the magical circles.
Driven by fear, I jumped out of the way from the ground and evaded the first six. The ground where the pressurized rays of water hit had deep holes blown into them and I realized, I'm dead if I'm hit by one of those things.
Rachel was sweet but she knows not the meaning of holding back, she stretched her hand towards me and more rays of water were ejected from the circle at me one by one. Unbelievably, I was dodging them somehow by jumping away like a rabbit in distress.
Unexpectedly, Rachel fired one of those rays at the ground next to my feet, the shockwave created from the impact catapulted me and I was knocked over to the ground.
Exploiting this opportunity, she manipulated the six circles above her to fire off rays of pressurized water simultaneously at me.
I looked towards her from the ground and saw the incoming rays, taking a deep breath before getting to my knees and I yelled;
"That's enough!."
Just like Xerxes performed earlier, a considerable amount of wind energy was emitted from my mouth after I finished my statement, they dispelled the rays and circles she had created.
Rachel was blown backwards rolling on the ground as she was overtaken by the blast, she squeezed her eyes and grinned her teeth groaning in pain as she made a discomforting contact with the ground.
Xerxes cup flew away from his hand which led him to stare at me in surprise.
"Oh?"
