Chereads / Tales of a Newbie Dungeon Master / Chapter 17 - Chapter 16

Chapter 17 - Chapter 16

After spending time with Alexandra, I realized something – our services are focused solely on catering to those who are going to challenge the dungeon. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing, I feel that there's a lack of broader entertainment options.

To make changes to the first instance, I called Rick and Livia.

"So, I've been thinking about adding some new services to the dungeon."

"Do you have any idea what you want to do?"

"I wanted to offer more options for those who aren't currently challenging the dungeon, like a cinema, an aquarium, some pools, viewing points, those kinds of things."

"I'm not sure if we can do all of that, but some things might be possible."

"Wait, wait, where do you think about implementing these things and how?"

With that, we began discussing and refining what we can do and where we can make these changes within the dungeon.

"How about we consider dividing our offerings into distinct areas?"

"Why?"

"It might provide a more organized experience for our visitors. We can guide them and create dedicated spaces for different activities."

"You know, that actually sounds like a good idea."

"Think about it—instead of a chaotic mix, visitors can easily find what they're looking for, and we can tailor each space to create a more immersive experience."

"Let's do it then"

Firstly, we decided to divide the first instance into different areas: Dungeon, Spa, Entertainment, and Education.

The Dungeon area encompasses everything related to dungeon challenges, including the blacksmith, the shop responsible for buying loot, and the waiting room for entering the dungeon. For the moment, these comprised the core components of this area.

The Spa is where we will focus on well-being and health. This area includes Olivia's treatment room, the place where I attend to physiotherapy patients, and offer massage services.

The Entertainment section is currently represented by the restaurant.

In the Education area, we're planning to create a library, a training space, and our pseudo-school dojo.

To avoid having to kick everyone out of the dungeon, we're currently simulating these changes to see how everything will fit.

While implementing these changes, we also invested in enhancing what we already had. We started with the restaurant, buying the option to restock ingredients. The cost depends on the quantity of ingredients used, with the advantage being the higher quality of these products compared to what we were using before. We then purchased better equipment and expanded the restaurant's size.

In the dungeon area, there wasn't much to do. We improved the equipment used by the blacksmith, enlarged the waiting room, added comfortable sofas and tables for people waiting their turn, and created a space where visitors can choose which team is currently challenging the dungeon and watch their progress.

After that, the serious work began.

"Wouldn't it be better to utilize a space that can be used for all the services in that area?"

First, we worked on the ambiance. The spa atmosphere was carefully designed to convey a sense of warmth and serenity. Soft lighting, relaxing colors, and gentle music were used to create an immersive experience.

"I think it would be nice to have a hot spring and a sauna."

"Maybe a sand bath?"

"Yeah, that sounds interesting. What else can we do?"

Rick and I were racking our brains trying to come up with more ideas.

Livia sighed.

"A spa typically focuses on well-being and health. Manicures, hairdressing, massages, beauty treatments, relaxation areas, and a long list of things."

She started listing common things found in a spa and explained the differences based on the spa's intended focus.

Rick and I exchanged glances, we've never actually visited a spa and our knowledge is quite limited, so we decided to let Livia take the lead and do whatever she thinks is best. After all, she seemed to have a much clearer understanding of what a spa should be.

Within this environment, we created a room where Rebeca and I would attend to her patients. Additionally, we established a room with thermal springs, using the mystical creation powers of the dungeon to project a lush landscape with naturally heated pools where visitors can relax and bathe. Moreover, these waters possess special properties, offering a beneficial experience to those who use them.

Next, we designed a series of saunas to provide various heat and humidity experiences, mineral mud baths, a room simulating an outdoor environment with a garden for relaxation under the sunlight.

But that wasn't all – we also created meditation rooms, yoga spaces, a room offering beauty treatments (unavailable until we hire professionals), and several different relaxation rooms for visitors to choose from according to their preferences. Not forgetting to create the specific rooms where the massages will take place.

"Shall we follow the same scheme as our private library?"

"I think so, but we might need more books."

"Yes, but what we need is more duplicates of the same books, not just one copy of each."

The educational area turned out to be the simplest to create, yet also the most time-consuming due to the library. Creating shelves and organizing each book by content proved to be meticulous work.

"At the moment, we don't have enough teachers to instruct everyone. Maybe we can use auditoriums like they have in universities to accommodate more people."

"Yes, but I believe the main focus should be on areas for practical knowledge or training."

Drawing inspiration from university lecture halls, we erected auditorium-like spaces, but with numerous training spaces for practical classes.

As we were verifying and confirming each detail.

"Don't you think we still have too few different things?"

"Now that you mention it..."

"What more can we do that doesn't require a professional to manage?"

"How about a gaming center or a karaoke room?"

"Good idea."

"Well, there's an issue. We need gaming machines first. Although there are some in the dungeon's shop, they are all unknown brands that I've never heard of."

That doesn't stop us from using them, but there's no guarantee people will find them interesting. As a safer option, let's buy some computers and download games from the internet.

We decided to add a cyber café and a karaoke room to the entertainment area. It was a practical solution that didn't require specialized expertise to manage, aligning well with the goal of providing enjoyable activities for the clientele.

"We forgot to work on the room where adventurers are teleported when they die."

Since it's a reward from the system, it already has the best features and furnishings. When adventurers die, they're teleported to an area and then transported to comfortable beds until they wake up. Additionally, the room is imbued with magic that provides mental stability and accelerates healing rates.

"Well, I guess there's not much to do there."

We can just work a bit on the ambiance of the room. Maybe create each bed as an individual space, like a special private hospital room. We can also add a mini-bathroom to these rooms and try to make the ambiance similar to what we did for the spa, with the difference being the purity of the air and scents.

All these changes amounted to around 2300 dungeon coins, with Rick and I sharing the cost.

"Attention, all those who are not currently challenging the dungeon, we kindly request that you vacate the premises. We are undergoing changes and renovations to better serve you."

After confirming that everything was in order and everyone had left, we finalized the changes, bringing to life everything we had simulated.

At the moment, these are the modifications we're planning to implement in the first phase. However, our vision extends beyond these changes as we aim to transform into a comprehensive commercial center. But there's a significant challenge that has arisen: to bring this vision to life, we require specialized individuals, contacts, and suppliers. This is a process that can't be accomplished overnight and demands a substantial financial investment.

Even with the changes we've already made, we'll need to seek professionals to manage certain areas of the spa. This is the downside of AI assistants – they don't come equipped with knowledge in these areas, possibly because they weren't designed to be used in that manner.

We've decided to post job advertisements to attract professionals who can manage the spa. Concurrently, the members of our team will reach out to their networks, seeking potential candidates among their friends or acquaintances who might be skilled in the required fields.
