Chereads / Tales of a Newbie Dungeon Master / Chapter 22 - Chapter 21

Chapter 22 - Chapter 21

We decided to close the dungeon for a day to get accustomed to the changes. First, we had to adjust all the prices and list the new features resulting from the change in value.

The restaurant is one of the places that is most excited about the changes, but not everything is perfect. Due to changes in some ingredients, they are creating various dishes to make better use of them and create better meals.

We also had to spend some time learning how to use the new equipment. Many of the functions are similar, which allowed us to serve people when the change occurred.

With the evolution of the AI assistants, as they now possess knowledge in various new areas, they can be utilized for other tasks, helping to address some of our issues regarding a lack of individuals with specific expertise.

The spa is no longer short of staff, the cooks have gained many new ideas for different dishes and recipes, and the blacksmith now has some assistants who can perform simple tasks.

Some of them are now teachers at our dojo school, able to teach a wide variety of techniques.

My talent helped people adjust to the changes much faster, allowing us not to be closed for too long.

"Has anyone felt any differences?"

I decided to gather all the people I hired to discuss the changes they've noticed. Visually, it's apparent that my parents and the blacksmith look younger.

"I feel lighter and stronger."

"I feel really refreshed."

"I no longer have that annoying back pain."

Everyone is feeling somewhat different, but it varies from person to person.

"Has anyone checked their status?"

When I asked, everyone remained silent for a moment. After a while, they began reporting the changes they noticed.

"My blacksmith skill and some attributes increased."

"I gained a new ability, and my stats increased significantly."

"My skills increased significantly, and I gained some new knowledge."

A common theme among the changes was the increase in skills and attributes. Besides myself, only three people appear to have gained a different race.

Oliver became a giant human variant and gained the Super Strength talent, making him 20% stronger with a more resilient body.

Alexandra transformed into a race called "cyber-humans." The talent she gained allows her to consume them to develop, but it seems to have some limitations.

Another person who gained a new race was Rick, but it was due to his reward. His new race is a "morphic," allowing him to maintain certain characteristics of other races he chooses and keep one talent from those races.

After studying our "evolutions" and accepting the fact that some of us are no longer pure "humans."

"What were your other rewards, Rick?"

"Let me see. Increase in dungeon quality, increase in talent quality, 10,000 dungeon coins, and a significant increase in my attributes and skills. Some of my attributes reached 40."

"Mine were similar, but I gained 5,000 dungeon coins, and instead of an increase in attributes, I got an extra dungeon master's right."

"By the way, does anyone want it? I even thought about selling it, but I figured it would be better to have a third dungeon, even though it increases the number of people who can visit the dungeon at the same time, there's a queue forming to use the dungeon."

Alexandra, Oliver, and Matheus raised their hands.

"How should we decide? Do you want to choose someone, Jeff?"

"How about the old method? Let's draw lots, and the winner takes it."

While they were preparing to draw lots, I decided to investigate the changes in the system.

Some of the changes that appeared include options, events, missions, legions, markets, and invasions.

At the moment, there are no events available, but there is a message saying "coming soon" with a timer underneath.

The missions tab has various tasks.

[Mission: Create a new floor.

Reward: A random mob.]

[Mission: Perform an invasion.

Reward: 1000 Dungeon coins.]

[Mission: Make your first sale.

Reward: A random skill.]

[Mission: Tame a dragon.

Reward: Dragon's nest.]

And many other missions, ranging from simple tasks like having different mobs to missions like having 100 floors, defeating a dragon, saving a world, but each mission has a reward related to its difficulty, with the easy missions resembling tutorials.

The legion function allows you to create a group with other dungeon masters and sort of combine your dungeons, enabling teleportation between these dungeons, lending mobs, among other things, like sharing a talent within the legion.

A somewhat peculiar function, but as I looked into it and questioned the system, I discovered that this function is linked to events and invasions.

Without wasting time, I decided to create a legion and invite Rick. As there are currently only the two of us, I made him the vice-leader. I believe this function will only be used between us for now. Perhaps in the future, we'll recruit others. With the creation of the legion, Rick will now be able to benefit from my talent. Although he's not being left behind yet, the others in the group are developing much faster than him.

The market seems to be a place where other dungeon masters use to trade items among themselves. At the moment, you can find some mobs for sale and random items, but the prices still lack any standard or basis.

The invasion function is something I didn't expect to find. With it, you can create an access point from your dungeon to another world. During this period, you have to call challengers and protect your dungeon.

If you manage to protect your dungeon for a set period, you gain access to that world, allowing you to explore it and also open your dungeon for the people from that world to challenge.

And those aren't the only advantages of invasions. Each successful invasion will generate rewards like rare items and resources, dungeon coins, new monsters and creatures, as well as new abilities and skills.

However, if the dungeon is conquered before the protection period ends, you'll lose access to that world and incur a fee in dungeon coins.

There are some limitations to this feature, such as the time you can perform invasions, and the amount of time you must protect the dungeon is proportional to its difficulty. The dungeon cannot be designed in a way that makes it impossible to conquer, like isolating a floor without an entrance to the next.

"Yay, I won!"

While I was pondering the new functions and feeling a bit disoriented by what I had discovered, in addition to the idea of visiting other worlds, or rather, invading other worlds, it seems we had a winner.

"Congratulations, Rebeca."

When I asked who wanted to be the Dungeon Master, Rebeca hadn't said anything, but when we were about to draw lots, she decided to participate as well.

"I may have won this time, but I'm counting on all of you. If I win another dungeon master's right, I'll give it to you."

"That's right. Don't worry; I'll do the same. Well, before anything else, I'll share what I found out with the system upgrade. Rick, I'm counting on your help and perspective."

"I just checked here too; you can count on me."

Afterwards, we discussed and explained the changes and our viewpoints. When we talked about invasions, people's reactions were mixed. While most had expressions of excitement, my dad and Jason were pensive.

"What if this invasion is related to the appearance of monsters in our world?"

"I was thinking the same thing."

This changed everyone's mood instantly.

Today, society has adapted to monsters and magic, and thanks to new materials and magic, society has made great progress since stabilizing.

However, a significant portion of the population died due to monsters, and many still perish daily while clearing the city's surroundings or trying to reduce the monster population.

"System, what caused the appearance of monsters in our world? Was it due to this dungeon invasion function?"

[Authority over the origin of monsters is currently insufficient.]

[The invasion function can only be performed in worlds with mana present.]

This response was somewhat vague, but it raised another question.

If the dungeon can only invade planets with mana, then did Earth, not having dungeons before, already possess mana or not? And if it didn't, what made that mana suddenly appear?

"Well, there's no use thinking about it now; we won't get answers. The only way to gain them is to earn more authority."

"Right, let's focus on the present. What talent and mobs will Rebeca receive?"

Without answers at the moment, we decided to focus on the here and now and what truly mattered.
