The organization responded to the request I had made. The prices of the monsters are related to their rarity, strength, and distance from the city.
They also asked whether the monsters needed to be alive.
"System, do the monsters need to be alive?"
[It's not necessary, but the more incomplete the monster, the greater the need to use dungeon coins to complete it.]
After looking at the price of each monster, I decided to request a body of each common monster near the city.
With this, the dungeon now has various different monsters. These new additions include harpies, killer rabbits, gray wolves, stealth spiders, and golems.
It ended up being cheaper than I had imagined. However, if I want rarer monsters like griffins, dragonets, and unicorns, it's a different story. Despite these monsters being considerably close by, the demand for them is immense.
Taking advantage of this addition of monsters, I decided to buy 10 more "gachas," and the results were an orc, a zombie, an earth elf, a black wolf, a Snake-Man, a skeleton, an imp, a leopard, a gargoyle, and a griffin.
With the variety of monsters I now possess, I decided to remodel the dungeon.
One of the ideas I had was to create a floor simulating the surroundings of the city. However, to make things more interesting, I decided to add other monsters that aren't normally found there.
I chose to create a vast forest, trying to make it as similar to the real one as possible, although due to the scale, it didn't turn out identical. In the center of this forest is where people will appear, surrounded by walls with gates in each direction.
Once outside the protection provided by the walls, they won't be attacked immediately, but they will encounter various trees and vegetation. A little further ahead, they can encounter the killer rabbits, whose seemingly harmless appearance belies their ferocity.
The deeper into the forest, the more monsters one can find, as well as a greater variety of them.
Following the killer rabbits, one can come across groups of gray wolves and black wolves. Despite being of the same species, each has its own specialty. The black wolves are more stealthy and hunt in smaller groups, while the gray wolves are fiercer and hunt in packs.
After each group, different monsters can be encountered, including golems, harpies, and stealthy spiders. Imps, leopards, an orc, and various goblins can also be found.
In addition to the number of monsters, collection points have been added, featuring various types of common and magical herbs.
Every 30 minutes within the map, 2 griffins will spawn. This is to make them act as special monsters with an increased chance to drop items.
The former first floor has undergone a change in its functioning. Instead of having various rooms, it now consists of only a corridor and a large room. In this room, monsters will spawn in waves. With each round, more monsters will spawn, increasing the difficulty. There will be 15 rounds in total.
The monsters present in these rounds will be goblins, orcs, and skeletons. The skeletons have been enhanced in quality, allowing for the choice between warrior skeletons and mage skeletons.
At the end of each round, the group will have a 5-minute break to prepare for the next round.
The third floor remains the same, but I decided to slightly expand it, with larger and better-lit corridors. This is to enable people to mine more easily. The map will reset every 8 hours, causing the positions of the ores to change randomly and the mined walls to return to their original state.
The former second floor, due to the difficulty of dealing with wisps, has now become the fourth floor. However, this time it has been designed in a realm shrouded in darkness and mystery. This horror-themed environment was designed to evoke a sense of foreboding and trepidation. The floor was divided into eerie sections, each filled with its own unique horrors.
Zombies and skeletons lurked in the shadows, their vacant eyes and eerie groans creating an atmosphere of dread. Wisps flitted through the air, their ethereal glow casting an otherworldly light. Imps danced mischievously in the corners, adding an element of chaos to the sinister ambiance.
The creatures possible to encounter on this floor are zombies, skeletons, wisps, imps, Snake-Men, and the two elves. Despite the elves somewhat breaking the horror theme, their drops are quite valuable to not include in the dungeon.
The fifth floor, I decided to create a place that, for the time being, the mobs had yet to make their appearance, the space served as a resting place and a safe zone.
Presented a serene and tranquil environment in stark contrast to the challenges of the previous floors. An uncharted beach, kissed by the gentle caress of waves, stretched out. The sound of waves lapping against the shore offered a soothing melody, inviting adventurers to pause and rejuvenate before continuing their journey.
However, it's still undecided if this floor will continue to be used in this manner. While I plan to create a safe haven for adventurers to rest from all the battles in the dungeon, I intended to do this later when the dungeon had a larger time limit or if I decided not to use a time limit anymore.
What prompted me to create this floor at the moment was the desire I had to go to the beach, something that due to the appearance of monsters has become very dangerous, with only a few places where you can find accessible and safe beaches.
One more floor and I can summon another hero. I hope this time I get something more normal.
There's still a good amount of time left before we reach the 3-month mark to complete our objectives. This is making me anxious to see how I've done and the rewards I will receive.
To implement the changes to the dungeon, I had to temporarily close it down. Despite the considerable time and effort it took, I was satisfied with the outcome.
"I'm here to announce the completion of dungeon maintenance. Thank you all for your support. If you have any suggestions, feel free to post them on our forum."
After announcing the reopening of the dungeon for those who were in the first instance, whether enjoying what we have to offer or waiting for the dungeon to reopen, I went to sleep. The intense focus and concentration required for editing and configuring the floors had left me quite drained.
************** Change of POV **************
In a cozy karaoke bar, bathed in soft lights and adorned with vinyl records on the walls, a group of friends gathers with an air of excitement. Each armchair holds an eager member ready to share the changes they've experienced after challenging the dungeon.
"Hahaha, my grades have actually improved. I no longer have to fear failing."
"If you had put more effort in earlier, you wouldn't be in this situation."
"I swear I tried, but the subject was so boring and I couldn't understand almost anything."
"Well, everyone here ended up with slightly better grades than expected."
"Yeah, not only that, my skin is so beautiful and smooth."
This same group is the group of students that Matheus is a part of.
"Still, how did you improve so much, Matheus?"
"Haven't you heard? That dungeon belongs to his brother. I bet he's been running through it multiple times."
"Well, it's not exactly like that. I did challenge it a few more times, but I'm also working there part-time."
"Still, I'm impressed too. Things seem much simpler now, I can learn the material much easier."
"You could give us some private lessons then."
"That's like calling us to challenge the dungeon too."
"Why not? When I have some free time, I'll call you guys. How about setting up a study group this weekend?"
"Deal."
Truth be told, Matheus has no idea why he's developing so rapidly. He even questioned whether he's become a genius. But after comparing his attributes, he realized he's just slightly above average. However, he put that aside and accepted it. While he hasn't decided what to pursue in the future yet, the better his results are in this final year, the better opportunities he'll have.
