I noticed that Scarlette fell asleep on my shoulder. I gently moved her head off my shoulder and put her on the pillow. I carefully got off the bed so I wouldn't wake Scarlette up. I put a blanket over her. Then I sat down in a chair and I looked at Scarlette. She was sleeping peacefully. I thought to myself, how could someone sleep so peacefully when you've just found out something horrible about your best friend? I'm shocked that she still wants to be my friend and be around me. I kept staring at Scarlette, with a little smile. She looked happy and comfortable sleeping. I started to get tired then I fell asleep.
When I woke up the next day I saw Scarlette still sleeping on my bed. She still looked so peaceful. I got up off the chair and stretched a little then went downstairs to the kitchen to make some breakfast. When I got in the kitchen I grabbed some eggs and sausage from the fridge then got a few slices of bread from the cabinet. I grabbed two skillets and put them on the stove. I cracked up some eggs and put them in the skillet. I put the sausage in the other skillet. Then I put the two slices of bread in the toaster.
As I was getting two plates I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. I turned around and saw Scarlette. She was her eyes and yawning as went to sit on the kitchen counter. "What's for breakfast?" Scarlette asked. "We're having toast with eggs and sausage," I said, smiling at her. I put the food on the plates then grabbed two forks. I handed Scarlette a plate and fork. She started eating right away.
"So did you sleep well?" I asked, with a smirk on my face. Scarlette stopped eating and she looked like she was about to choke. "Why do you ask, did I say anything weird?" Scarlette asked, blushing and feeling embarrassed. "No, not that I know of if you did, I didn't hear because I fell asleep," I said looking at Scarlette confused. Scarlette was relieved, I got close to her, she was still sitting on the counter.
"What were you dreaming about?" I asked, trying to look into her eyes but Scarlette turned her head away from me. I put my hand on her chin and turned her head. Scarlette's face had turned red. "What were you dreaming about that made you look so peaceful? Was it about Zayn? I asked Scarlette with my hand still on her chin. "No," Scarlette said.
I was confused because she had a little smile on her face when she was sleeping last night. I haven't seen her like that since we were in middle school. Was it a memory from when we were younger, I thought to myself. "Did it have to deal with me?" I asked Scarlette looking into her eyes. Her face was getting more red than it was already. "I don't want to talk about it," Scarlette said, turning her head and handing me the plate.
Scarlette got off the counter and went upstairs. I washed the dishes. After I finished washing the dishes I went back upstairs to my room. When I got to my room Scarlette was sitting on the bed. She looked sad or worried. So I went up to her and sat right in front of her on the bed so we could be facing each other. "Is everything okay?" I asked her, concerned. "I don't know exactly, I'm confused, to be honest," she said, looking down, fidgeting with her fingers.
"Whatever you're confused about, maybe I can help," I said, lifting her head up so she could look at me. Scarlette had a little smirk on her face. Then she moved closer to me and shifted her body to put her head on my chest. I put my arm on her. Scarlette's body was so relaxed and soothing. "Tomus," Scarlette said, very quietly, that I almost didn't hear her.
"Yeah," I replied. "You'll always be my best friend no matter what," Scarlette said, her head still on my chest. "You'll always be my best friend too," I said. Scarlette took her head off my chest and looked up at me. I just smiled at her putting my fingers in her hair. "I love you," I said looking into Scarlette's eyes. "I know," she said. "No, not as a friend I mean," I said.
Scarlette's face turned really red. She didn't say anything and she was silent. She just looked at me then she pulled me close to her. I was scared for a second. Scarlette put one of her arms around my neck. Then the next thing we were kissing. The kiss wasn't like when I kissed her birthday. Scarlette stops the kiss by putting her hand on my chest and pushing me a little.
"I have to go," Scarlette said, then biting her bottom. She got off the bed and grabbed her backpack and left the room. I followed behind her going downstairs. Scarlette was heading for the door. She put her hand on the doorknob then I grabbed her wrist and turned her body so that she could face me.
"Thank you for coming and staying the night," I whispered in Scarlette's ear while putting my arms around her waist. I looked down at Scarlette's neck and kissed it a few times. "I really have to go," Scarlette whined. I laughed a little because of how Scarlette was whining. "What's so funny?" Scarlette asked, giving me a strange look. "I'm sorry," I said, with my arms still around her waist.
I let her loose so that she could go. Scarlette opened the door then she turned around and kissed me. Then she walked out of the house. "I'll see you later to finish the project," Scarlette said, her face bright red. I watched her as she walked off my yard. I shut the door then went straight to my room and thought about what had happened.
