Chapter 22 - First day of the academy

Letting out a resounding yawn I lifted my head off the bed that I had slept on I twisted my stuff neck eliciting satisfying cracks.

Today I had my first class so I needed to be ready, even I couldn't afford to be late if what the headmaster had said was true. I shivered at the thought of what type of punishment the headmaster would give a student.

Brushing my hair until it was somewhat neat I heard a knock at the door. Opening it I was met by a man in academy clothing carrying a box. In a deadpan voice he informed me that the box contained the uniform I would have to wear and a couple of books that I would need.

Opening the box I was met by a black uniform with white patterns and runes that offered the base necessities like an automatic tear repair function and low physical and magic resistance on top of an auto cleaning function. This thing that was being handed out like nothing was easily worth a small bundle of gold coins even with its lackluster runes (the runes aren't actually lackluster but his perception of runes has been skewed by Mishia and the RPG).

Walking out of my room and the apartment I met many who were doing the same thing. It seems that we had all received our uniforms at the same time. Most students started heading to the train station however I decided that running would be a lot more comfortable than piling into a small space with a bunch of other students.

Using my decent agility I ran to the road and hired a private taxi to take me to the academy. While I could make it on time I would have to jump from roof to roof and I didn't want to stand out just yet. I planned on revealing my strength but by bit after getting halfway through the year so that I could lay the foundations and figure out who I needed to be wary of.

Walking up to the gates like the other students I was granted access. One of the rules that were printed on the leaflet that was given to us yesterday after the opening ceremony was that to gain entrance to the academy it was necessary to wear the uniform otherwise guards would impend your passage.

The gate was made of an ominous black iron with gold inlays. As I passed them I felt a wave of mana scanning me it must have been a barrier that they set up.

Walking inside I looked at the board which held a massive map, I needed to head to room 1A. Looking over the entire academy I finally spotted the room on the second floor in a corridor. Patching my route from the entrance I guessed it would take around 5 minutes to reach my classroom.

Pushing those thoughts to the back of my mind I headed to my homeroom class. Like all novels and games the classes were ranked by F to S where the higher the rank you were the closer to S class you would be where the teaching and resources were best. Since I came in at 234th I would be in class A1 in 7th place from the bottom along with 200 other students and those who are 50 and above would be in S class which was special this the decreased amount of students compared to the other classes.

This wouldn't be too much of a problem since I would still learn a majority of topics that I didn't know of and I could gain access to high class resources whether it is books or guides. I needed help with magic theories and elements since I was only proficient with magic that was not commonly used by the masses and I did not want to show them unless I was in a life threatening situation since it could lead to me being hunted down for my unique affinities or my race could be found out and I would be captured. I could learn how to use the cane as a weapon or just act like I didn't know how to use swords and 'hone' it until the end of my days in the academy.

Either way i would meet the cast of faces that I would be sitting and working with throughout my stay here. I'm sure there will be a Protagonist-like somewhere followed by a harem of people and they would act all high and mighty or so kind that it's impossible to not hate them.

I just don't understand why people revere harems so much. It's already difficult balancing life and your significant other and then you say you have more to share with others? Finding love in one person is hard enough let alone multiple people.

Pushing my decaying thoughts to the side I pulled the door and it opened smoothly, I was greeted by a well balanced room built like a lecture hall to accommodate the number of students and yet I knew from the RPG that there would always be an excess of seats just in case, It was neither gaudy nor was it dreary and the space between each desk was perfect for being able to view the front and talk to the person next to you if need be. I could see a couple faces buried in books studying or chatting with others however it seemed my appearance had brought some attention whether it was a quick glance or a person whose gaze was trying to drill into my soul, trying to figure me out.

I found a seat in the middle row where I would have the best view while not putting too much attention on me. I had about 10 minutes before Form would start ( British version of Homeroom) so I could tinker with something while I waited. I decided to tinker with my mana signature to make my spells easier to cast.

Instead of forming a mana core like the others Mishia's body itself was the mana core with each cell holding a tiny amount of mana that could then slowly be expanded into miniature mana orbs as I absorbed more mana creating a lattice network kind of like a diamond's carbon chain. This would slowly expand and connect my entire body together with ambient mana allowing me to strengthen my body beyond those with a solitary mana core and hold a lot more mana than the average person. However I was only at the beginning since when I awakened Mishia's progress had decayed due to her slumber and the absence of her soul That was why it took so much mana for me to cast simple spells from my elements.

By changing the ambient mana in my cells to my elements I could decrease the time it took for my body to change to that mana and it would decrease the amount of mana that I needed to cast a spell since it would eventually become extremely efficient.

Finally it was close to time classes started and the rest of the students entered the room. The difference between them and others was significant whether it be in strength or looks, I could feel the gazes of envy and jealousy around me pointed at the group of people that had just entered. They seemed to be used to the attention though as they just found a seat without batting an eye at the situation.

Walking into the class I was met by a familiar face. The demon that was our professor who introduced us to the test, her mad grin was nowhere to be seen however instead it was replaced by a beautiful smile that blossomed like a flower.

I wasn't going to fall for it. I could feel the same malicious and sadistic intent that she held in the battle royale test.

"Good morning class I am Seraphim Lancaster the vice principal of the four wings academy. Each morning I will determine your growth to send your diagnostics to your other teachers to alter your work to maximize your potential. I would like to call out your name and then have you stand and tell us something about yourself. going from the lowest rank in the room to the highest. "

(way too many students to name them all so I'll name the important characters)

Rank 250: Rei no last name

H-hello my name is Rei and I use plant magic, I enjoy tending to plants so my magic is the best for me.

Thank you~

He was a young man with curly auburn hair and caramel coloured eyes, his face was well above average with delicate features to the point that he almost looked like a girl. He seems to be the nervous type but plant magic sounds interesting I wonder if they are into alchemy. It could be quite the boon with their magic by using it to grow hard ingredients. He must have a decent combat ability if he managed to reach the top 250 even if it was just barely but the academy doesn't just rank people from their combat potential but also their usefulness in other areas.

~

Rank 234: Noir

Hello I am Noir I'm good at close combat and I want to learn magic theory.

Just myself nothing more than that.

~

Rank 160: Damien Night

I am a flame magic user and I like close combat and I am a duel wielder.

He seemed to have a battle hungry personality just like his magic. Does the element you hold relate to your personality? His hair was pitch black with subtle red streaks giving him the look of a fire being subdued by smoke. It was long and curly giving his look that of a smouldering fire. His features were masculine with a sharp chin and an intimidating gaze with his deep green eyes that shined like emeralds.

~

Rank 80: Isadora Nightingale

Hello I'm Isadora I like training.

Blunt and to the point it's almost like she doesn't want to be here. Interesting indeed. She had long deep blue hair that went down to the middle of her back. It was so dark to the point of it almost looking black, she had deep blue eyes that held a frosted and almost dead look to them. Her thin lips were stuck in a small frown that never seemed to disappear. Her features were the epitome of a beautiful ice queen.

~

Rank 74: Lizbeth Light-fall

Hello! I am good at healing and light magic however I don't like combat. I hope to be friends with you all!

Hmm someone who is weak yet holds a strong power. What a shame that she seemed overly optimistic. She had bright golden hair and brown eyes. Her face still had some baby fat giving a childish/innocent look compared to the others. She probably wouldn't survive long if she kept her personality the same to say the least. Her magic must have pushed her up the ranks since it was so rare.

~

Rank 68: Lucifer Mors

Yo I'm good at a bit of everything. Think of me as an all rounder. I enjoy music of all kinds and learning different weapon arts.

Something about him feels different. He's hiding something whatever it is seems interesting but it's not my place to pry unless it involves me.

~

Rank 51: Evelyn

"Hello"

She only used a one word introduction and the looks of the class (on the majority) formed into disgust and contempt. A small circle of desks had been left empty around her and I had never seen or heard of her in the RPG but why would she be left out? She had long pink hair that reached down to her waist and atop her head was two fluffy ears. Her face was delicate and small with some baby fat still evident in her fave, Her blue eyes looked like pure crystals and her shapely lips were a glossy pink. Overall she had a cutesy look however she was being avoided by everyone at all costs. She truly was an enigma to say the least.

~~

Coughing to gain the attention of the class Sephardim seemed somewhat off kilter compared to how she normally is and I noted that there were more heads in the classroom than what there should be.

"Due to certain circumstances those of class S have been merged with your class As I'm sure you have noticed they have already joined your class. Please give them a warm welcome and let's proceed with the introductions."

A round of applause was given for those who were supposed to be in S class however it seemed more like we were mocking them than anything and based on the looks on some of their faces they felt the same.

~~

Rank 5 Prince Adrian El Jyxes II

I am prince Adrian I hope we all get along and please call me Adrian, I am a holder of Derivative light magic based on combat. I hope we all get along.

Hmm I didn't have too much to say he was pretty straightforward and easygoing for a prince but that didn't mean I trusted him.

~

Rank 4: Princess Emma Blackthorn

Hello I'm good at curse magic. I use a spear or a polearm for my main weapon.

While curse magic is looked down upon it is definitely strong plus since it's a princess no one can really complain about her using curse magic in the first place. She had Long black hair and red eyes that were complimented by deep red lips and her pallid skin that must have been from using curse magic as it looked unhealthy to say the least.

~

Rank 3: Prince Dante Von Agidyne VIII

I am the prince of the kingdom we are currently in. I hope you all know your place and don't cause trouble for me or my family. The fact that I took third place was due to my mana reserves being empty otherwise I would have been in first.

What a dick!

~

Rank 2: Prince Sidon Grandsbane

Hello I am the strongest prince of the wetlands demi humans. I will show you all that we can hold our own and help you all pass the year! I'm sure we'll be good friends. My elements are ice and water magic!

How very eccentric seems like a cool guy though. An aquatic demi human was interesting I wanted to know how they worked. His head was like a shark and his body had fins coming off of them

~

Rank 1: Kiera Whyte

Good afternoon students of S class. I have been indoctrinated as the student Council vice president for the first years under the management of the year 3 president. I hope to continue growing along with all of you. If you need something or have some worries please turn to either me or the staff around the school. I hope to have a good year!.

She was an enigma. Her facial features were the perfect mix between alluring and sharp. Her Raven black coloured hair was in long braids with an ornament in her hair in the shape of a leaf. Her pointed ears showed through her hair. Her lips naturally died in a light pink hue.

She definitely turned heads but she was not my type. Maybe I was the wired one but who knows. I would definitely encounter her again but I would try to keep my interactions as little as possible. She felt somewhat familiar though. Not as in from what I had seen of her in the RPG but I felt another aura similar to hers but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't remember where.

~~

As the introductions had come to an end I couldn't help but let my mask fade a little. A wide grin etched itself on my face for a fraction of a second before I put back on the mask of a calm and composed student all I could say was.

"This would be a fun few years that was for sure!"
