Opening my eyes I felt a wave of nausea take over me. Leaning over I managed to grab a pan before spewing my guts out. A mixture of blood and bile filled the pan as my body stabilized itself before the world shifted into view.
The smell of disinfectant and bleach along with the beeping of a heart rate monitor that was the only sound in the dull room. Trying to lift myself up I felt my muscles resisting my will as I fell back into the hospital bed I was in. Feeling an odd weight on my arms I looked down, an IV was in one of my arms as a blood transfusion was taking place in the other while a bunch of different tubes, wires and pads were stuck to my arms. Looking further down I was covered in bandages and casts that created an itchy sensation and let out a rancid smell of medical salves. Each movement felt difficult but I needed to move, I don't have the luxury of sitting here since I didn't know what had happened. I wasn't sure how long I was out but I wanted to leave no matter what.
I heard the door open as I was about to force myself to get up. Looking over I was met by someone I didn't know in medical garbs with a clipboard writing down something.
"Hello. I'm awake can you tell me how long I have been out for?" My voice sounded like sandpaper and I felt like shit.
Instantly they dropped their clipboard like they had seen a reanimated corpse before leaving the room hastily before I could call out to them once again.
I was then met by a small group of medical staff studying me like I was some rare animal or a test subject alongside my homeroom teacher. Some looked at me weirdly while others looked nervous. *cough cough* my homeroom teacher.
"Can one of you tell me how long I have been out for?" I was more frustrated than anything else since no one was answering my questions.
"You have been in a medically induced coma for a week while your body has been healing. Do you remember why you are here in the first place?"
"Clear as day. We were being assessed on our combat skills before I was kicked into a wall before I fired off a spell and passed out."
"It was more... serious than that although it is mostly the same as your response. We need to run a couple more tests and keep you for another week before we can release you.
You were in a state of near death when you were brought in, your internal organs were corroding themselves before we managed to stabilise you. Luckily it seems that you have a good healing factor but as I said before you will need another week of rest no excuses"
"A week of doing nothing. Sure. sure. Anyways can I talk to my teacher in private please? "
Although they didn't seem too happy about me ordering them around they still complied as we were left in an awkward silence.
"I've heard that I have been out for a week? What about the work and classes? Do I have to make them up and what about my position in A class? "
Putting on a professional tone she responded:
"I have dealt with both of those issues. Unfortunately you have missed out on a majority of the main classes and a few tests that were set up. This would have led you to being demoted to class B however I have pulled a few strings as an apology to keep you as a student of class A. You will need to partake in rudimentary classes and follow a training schedule created by the medical staff for your rehabilitation.
I apologize for skewing your chances of success in this academy and therefore I have decided to financially sponsor you along with gifting you a home in the city under your name. I have left some extra gifts within your new home so please look over them.
Giving an exaggerated cough she returned to her more whimsical tone before excusing herself a mischievous smile played on the corner of her lips as she told me she had to 'train' the class in mana arts and combat as a punishment for failing a test.

I sat there dumbfounded at the change in personality she had shown from the first day. She was the one who put me in this position yet it felt like her emotions were mixed about what she had done, She seemed to be acting like nothing happened and she tried to make herself seem as nonplussed as possible however I could read the emotions behind her gaze... Guilt an immense guilt over what she had done, I knew her character and she was similar to a demon when it came to the battlefield relishing in the blood of her victims and when training a student she would force them into so many scenarios until they helplessly collapsed before giving them a stamina potion and forcing them to do it all over again, however when it came to the people she trains and supervises she can actually be pretty soft, Caring about their well beings and only pushing them for their own refinement. But that led to the question of why she was acting as she was. My only thoughts remained in a certain group of people who had enough power over her as an S class adventurer turned professor. It led to only 3 figures. But why specifically me?
Not knowing someone had become infuriating, I had a delicate set of plans and now they are destroyed and someone is trying to separate me from one of the most useful teachers for my growth wether intended or not.My anger seethed as I broke the casts and pulled out the tubes and wires from my body. Standing up I felt unbalanced as I struggled to plant my feet on the ground properly.
Stumbling over to a mirror I gripped onto the frame cracking it before I looked at my reflection. My body was the same as it usually was with no marks of the previous battle only a pair of pants covering me, My body actually felt slightly stronger than it had previously. Although I had apparently been in bed for weeks my long grey hair wasn't greasy and my body barely smelt bad, however the first thing in my list of things to do was to have a shower.
A bunch of nurses barged into my room in panic after hearing the heart monitor alarm however upon spotting me they were unsure of what to do. I guess it was weird for someone who was meant to be on bed rest to break all his casts off and look at himself in the mirror. I just looked at them with boredom before leaving the infirmary to head to the head master's office. I needed my stuff along with the keys to my new home.
I kept getting stares but I had no choice but to endure, after all I had no clothes on me and I couldn't use my main clothes as it would draw suspicion. Upon reaching the head master's office I was met by a receptionist who just stared at me like I was some zoo animal. I'm a conscious being too! I dislike all these looks why not just treat me like a normal person?
"Do you have an appointment with the headmaster?"
"No"
"Then I'm sorry sir you can't enter the headmaster is very busy at the moment."
"He should know who I am and why I am here."
"Let him in Tegan we need to have a discussion anyways."
