Chapter 5 - "Then here... boyfriend."

As she reached the group of rich boys, their mocking sounds filled the air, amplifying her self-doubt. She felt the weight of half the class's eyes on her, their curiosity piqued by her boldness. Kilin swallowed hard, telling herself to stay calm and focused.

Among the boys, Wyatt stood tall with an air of indifference. His expression was unreadable, and that only made Kilin hesitate further. She wondered if she had made a mistake and if she should turn around and retreat to the safety of her desk. But she couldn't back down now.

Clutching the little cake box in her hand she summoned her voice. "Wy-Wyatt, can I talk to you... outside?" Her words hung in the air, vulnerable and uncertain. The boys around Wyatt burst into laughter, their amusement apparent. They knew something Kilin didn't, and their mockery only intensified her unease.

Wyatt's gaze met Kilin's, his eyes holding a mix of curiosity and detachment. He seemed unperturbed by the commotion around them as if he had grown accustomed to such situations. Kilin couldn't help but feel a pang of uncertainty. Did he send that message to her by mistake, or did he not want to be embarrassed in front of his friends?

Luna who had picked the seat in front felt her friend, Imogen, sitting next to her tap her shoulder and she took off her wireless earphones while asking, "What's wrong."

Imogen chuckled softly while discreetly pointing at the back of the class.

"It seems someone is confessing their feelings for Wyatt. It's like a daily occurrence at this point. This is going to be a fun drama to watch." Luna glanced back and there was a ripple in her eyes but she recovered quickly.

The seconds ticked by, stretching the tension between them. Kilin's palms grew clammy, and she fought the urge to fidget. She wondered if she had misjudged everything and if her attempt to reach out had been nothing more than a foolish endeavour.

Finally, Wyatt's lips curled into a faint smile, barely visible to anyone but Kilin. That smile sent shivers all over her body as an inexplicable heat spread all over her cheeks.

With a casual nod, he replied, "Sure, let's go outside." His response caught Kilin off guard, momentarily alleviating her worries. The rowdy group of boys made jeering sounds and whistling drawing further attention from the rest of the class.

As she stepped out of the classroom, Kilin was overcome with nervousness, followed by Wyatt, whose demeanour was characterized by haughty disinterest. His towering stature loomed over her slight figure as he casually leaned his body against the doorframe, crossing his arms over his chest, projecting an air of indifference.

Kilin stood there frozen, her heart pounding uncontrollably in her chest. Wyatt's intense gaze bore into her, his cold exterior making it hard to decipher his true feelings. She wondered if she had made a mistake and hallucinated the conversation last night.

With a faint trace of disappointment in her eyes, Kilin mustered up the courage to speak again. "Was... was the message you sent meant for me?" she asked, her fingers tightening around the box of cake in her hand.

Wyatt was always indifferent to everything and everyone but she thought that he would treat her differently from others because he had expressed his desire for her to be his girlfriend. But it turns out that he was behaving the same. Kilin didn't mind though because he was always like this and it was this about him that attracted a lot of girls.

Leaning towards her, Wyatt confirmed, "Indeed, I did." Kilin let out a relieved sigh and then smiled with joy as she handed him the tiny cake box.

"Then here... boyfriend. I passed by the bakery store before school. I hope you like it."

Wyatt didn't accept it. He just glanced at the lime-coloured box for a brief moment.

He took a deliberate step closer and Kilin felt a sudden rush of emotions overwhelm her, causing her to freeze in place. Her breathing grew shallow, almost stagnated, as she tried to steady herself. She absentmindedly swallowed hard, taking a small step back to regain her composure.

In a gentle and affectionate gesture, Wyatt cupped Kilin's face, his forehead pressing against hers. As his touch ignited a spark within her, Kilin couldn't help but feel a slight sting where she had accidentally bumped her forehead the previous day, a consequence of her excitement over the text messages he sent to her. Though the pain persisted, she disregarded it completely, her heart pounding loudly in her ears.

Eyes locked onto each other, Kilin found herself irresistibly drawn to Wyatt's piercing blue eyes, reminiscent of a breathtaking pool hidden within an enchanting and mysterious cave. She felt herself being pulled deeper into those captivating eyes, losing herself in their captivating depths.

She was drawn in by the enticing aroma he emitted, eagerly leaning in, anticipating her first kiss. However, her blissful reverie was abruptly shattered when he uttered, "Don't be silly. You will never be my type."

Kilin felt a wave of icy dread course through her veins as her mind went blank, realising that less than twenty-four hours after that text message, she was being dumped.

Kilin's heart sank as Wyatt's cruel words echoed in her ears. Her breath hitched in her throat as she watched Wyatt's retreating back, the harsh words he had just uttered still echoing in her mind. When he opened the door sounds of scurrying footsteps were heard and she knew that whoever was behind that door had heard everything.

Tears welled up in her eyes, threatening to spill over, but she fought hard to hold them back. She couldn't let anyone see how deeply his rejection had wounded her.

As the bell for the start of assembly rang, students poured out of the classrooms, unaware of the heartbreaking scene that had unfolded moments ago.

Kilin felt a lump in her throat as she noticed Wyatt's friends laughing, their mocking glances piercing through her fragile facade. One of them deliberately bumped into her shoulder, adding insult to injury.

Feeling a mix of embarrassment and anger, Kilin took a deep breath and gathered her strength. She tightly clutched the small cake box that was meant to be a symbol of their budding relationship.

With determination in her eyes, she wiped away a stray tear and walked away from the scene. She couldn't afford to miss assembly time otherwise she would get a demerit.
