Zafar's words had an almost hypnotic effect on Zaya, but as soon as they left his mouth, she was brought back to reality. She jumped up from the couch, her hands instinctively crossing over her chest.
Zafar was taken aback by the sudden change in her demeanor. He stood up as well, concern written across his face.
"Zaya, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice full of worry.
"Stay away from me!" she yelled, pulling her shirt on. She walked over to the table and picked up Zafar's suit and inner shirt, tossing them to him roughly.
"Please, get dressed," she snapped, not looking at him. The harshness of her tone surprised him, and he could only watch as she turned her back to him.
Zafar did as she wanted him to and once he was done, he approached Zaya, gently touching her.
"Zaya, what's going on?" he asked, his voice filled with concern and confusion. He had no idea what he had done wrong.
