Chapter 11 - A Weird Day {D.E.S. 10}

†**********Gideon's POV**********†

"Ugh...."

Groaning in pain as I woke up, I held my head that hurt, no, not just my head, my whole body hurts.

My muscles ache as if they've been seriously twisted.

Could it be that this is the aftermath of being in that weird void?

~Sigh~

How many strange things can happen to a person in a day?

First, I was kicked by a WEIRD old man, then I drew a WEIRD glowing symbol.

After that, I followed a WEIRD route that led me to the WEIRD old man's WEIRD house, then the WEIRD void, and now I'm in this WEIRD hospital ward.

What a WEIRD DAY.

Ok, the hospital ward isn't weird, it's like the only normal place I've seen today, or was it yesterday?

~Smiles~

I never thought I would be so happy to be alive.

No, not that I'm afraid of death or anything, but, man, being stuck in that void gives me the creeps.

But what happened to me?

Could it be that my consciousness drifted away while my body passed out?

Wait, if that's the case, that means, the authors of those fantasy anime are not making things up.

It's real, all REAL.

That could be the case though, but there's also a probability of me dying and coming back to life.

And that void is where people who die but will come back to life stay?

"Urgh..."

Groaning in frustration of not being able to put what happened into words that will make sense, I clenched the side of my bed sheets.

"So you're awake huh?" A voice resounded in my ears.

That voice... sounds so familiar. I recognize it.

Yes.

How can I not recognize it since meeting him was what led to all the weird things that happened today?

Moving my gaze to the door, where the voice came from, I saw him.

"Hey old man, what did you do to me?"

Yep, it was no other person than the old man.

"Is that how to thank me for saving your life and bringing you to this hospital?" The old man retorted, clearly annoyed.

"You saved me? From what exactly?" I asked the old man, I needed an explanation for what happened to me.

Taking a sit beside my bed, he intertwined his fingers as he rested his jaw on it.

"I was saving you from...YOU" The old man said dramatically.

"Huh? You're not making any sense at all old man" I said even more confused than before.

The old man locked eyes with me and stared intently at me.

"Oh come on, you didn't even fall for that? What a boring kid." He said while pouting.

" . . . " I was dumbstruck yet again by this old man.

"Did you hit your head or something, because as old as you are, I didn't expect you to have such a weird sense of humor," I spoke my mind honestly.

~Sigh~

"You're too foul-mouthed, I'll have to deal with you later.

Anyways, you passed out while plucking fruits.

I mean, are you that afraid of height that you'd pass out while plucking fruit?"

The old man said, his intention of annoying me was clear, but then again he was making sense.

But I don't remember being afraid of heights, is phobia something that develops on the spot?

"Huh? Really? Then why was I standing even after you claimed that I had passed out and why were you on your guard, as if you wanted to fight me?" I inquired.

~sigh~

"When I was done checking your necklace, I looked back to see you lying on the floor, before I could understand what was going on you stood up and started... dancing.

I was on my guard clearly because I'd never heard of a person running mad after passing out.

I was preparing for a way to knock some sense into you" The old man explained.

" . . . "

*I... started dancing? Well, I guess that makes sense, since if I were stuck any longer in that place I would have run mad there too.*

NOTE: Gideon does not remember what happened after he touched the mirror.

Your "A lil bit motivated author": Henry😁

Clenching my fist, I prepared myself for what was coming.

"Old man, can I ask you something?" I said

"Huh? Sure, go ahead, you can ask me anything" He said sarcastically.

Choosing to ignore his sarcasm, I decided to ask.

"Have...H–Have you died before?" I asked forcefully.

" . . . " The old man was in search of words.

Silence, utter silence. The wind howled in the ward as the old man's face saddened.

"Honestly speaking...Yes, yes I have died." The old man said, his voice cold.

Meanwhile, I was excited to have seen someone that has died, the stars in my eyes shun as I could finally get answers to what have been bothering me.

"Really? How was it, where did you go when you died, was it black, cold and..." I was eager to ask him more but he cut me off.

"None of those kids, it was filled with birds, angels, and warm breeze, heaven, I think I went to heaven. It was beautiful." He said still with a cold expression

*Does that mean that both heaven and hell rejected me?*

"R–Really?" I asked.

The next moment the old man stood up, I don't know why? but I'm sure I saw veins popping out of his forehead head.

He, first of all, took in a deep breath and then...

"NO! OF COURSE NOT, YOU SEE I'M STILL ALIVE AND YOU'RE ASKING IF I HAVE DIED BEFORE.

HOW MUCH MORE STUPID CAN YOU BE? DO YOU THINK THAT IF I DIE I WOULD BE STANDING RIGHT HERE!!!"

The old man screamed at the top of his voice, and trust me, it would have been better, if he only screamed.

He grabbed my ear and screamed inside it.

"Ouch! Ouch! ouch! I'm still a patient old man!"

My ear drums were about to burst, it was painful as hell.

When he finally let me go, I sat up while holding my ear.

That's when I noticed that a tube was connected to me.

I was on drip and I also noticed that I was wearing my necklace. Looking at my necklace, I saw another chance of discovering who I am really.

"So were you able to find anything about my necklace?" I asked

"How could I concentrate when I heard a mad person dancing across the field." He snorted

"Hey don't call me a mad person!" I replied annoyance clear in my tone.

"That's not the point, I was unable to concentrate and check it out, so next time come to my base and I'll have it checked, and next time, make sure you don't run mad at me again."

He said standing up to leave. As he reached the door, he held the doorknob, and looking back at me, he said.

"The flower over there's from me, you passed out for complete 8 hours, so you're up in time to not miss your classes." He said before leaving.

~Slam~

He shut the door behind him

"Oh great, school." I sighed and looked at the artificial pink flower he sent me, and beneath it was a note.

"He could have given me the natural flowers from his field, why did he stress himself buying this for me? It's not like I'm dying"

I said, picking up the note, to read, it read:

•••••••••

Don't give it much thought, I did not give you my natural flowers, simply because, they're too good to be given to the likes of you.

Bleh 😜

•••••••••

*Is this man old or is he a teenager in the shell of an old man*💢 I thought, annoyed.

*Anyways, it's good to finally have a person who looks after me, even if it has to be an annoying old grandpa*

Tiredly, I let myself fall back into the bed

*A new day huh? What's in it for me? Is it going to be as weird as yesterday?

Fate and luck must have become tired of me ignoring them and living on despite what they throw at me.

So they're taking things to the next level, aren't they?*

†**********Old Man's POV**********†

Walking through the corridor, I was lost in thought.

*Could telling him the truth be the right thing to do?

What a weird kid.

he seems so interested in the afterlife. I'll have to look into his background.*

Opening the door, I left the hospital building.
