Chapter 2 - It Was A Normal Day As Long As You Ignore The Fact That It Wasn't. Chapter 1.

"Yeah, no. Life's going great for me, man.

Nothing out of the ordinary, just the usual. The only issue is that I'm on the urge of being broke.

Hotels are not cheap, do not recommend them.

Are you planning on going on a trip?...

Well, I saved you the expenses and time. You should thank me.

Now that I think about it, it's like I gave you a free vacation off of work. Without the trouble of an actual vacation.

...

Oh, and by the way. I love this coffee flavor. Is it new? I've never had it. It's not very sweet like I usually have my coffee. But it'll do"

She continued to lean on the kitchen counter.

As she sipped her coffee, he choked to death.

It was bitter - both the coffee and the look on his face.

"Nothing like a fresh cup of coffee and a murder to start the day. Aren't I right, Mr. Jefferson?

Well, thanks for the coffee, I needed it. Catch up next time.

Or not...

You know what, never mind me. I was never even here."

She said, exiting the house.

After exiting, there was some company outside the door for her. Just as she expected.

"Good morning, boys." She said nicely to the group of guys outside. "I won't create a fuss if we get this over with."

"So you're choosing to come with us?" One of the guys said, with a confused look on his face.

"Sigh. I have nothing better to do, so sure. Where's your van?" She asked, walking down the front steps.

"We don't have one," another guy said. "Then I'll have to guess you aren't complete imbeciles. Or you're broke." She said, looking around, seeing a taxi in the distance. "I'm guessing I was correct the second time. How unusual for me." She muttered as she started to walk to the car.

"What? You aren't coming?" She asked, turning around. "Do you expect me to kidnap myself? Oh, come on, I'm not worth that much." She said, stopping to wait for them. After a moment, they finally started walking towards her.

"You sure you wanna kidnap this one?" A guy asked.

"It'll be impossible to kidnap another person from the agency. She's giving in. Let her!" Another guy said.

"If you say so."

"Oh, and before anything." She said, opening the car door.

"You'll either be betting a lot with my agency. Or they'll give you money to keep me." She said, leaving all four guys confused once more. "They're sick of me. So, just a heads up." She said, getting inside the car. "Oh, wait," she said, getting out of the car again. "Can I bring my coffee? I just made it." She asked, looking at them. "Uhm, sure." A guy said, looking at the others. "Oh, great, thanks. Oh, and here, I'm guessing it'll help." She said, handing them her phone. "You guys are way nicer than the last time I was kidnapped. They didn't even want to talk to me, losers." She said, getting inside the car again and buckling her seat belt. "Thank you?"

"So, did Nick contract you guys?" She asked as they started the car.

"We wouldn't be able to give you that information, Miss. But even if we could, we don't know who you're talking about."

One of the guys sitting in the front said.

"Interesting, I didn't know Charles had more people after him." She mumbled to herself. "You know, the guy is pretty nice if you get to know him." She said, taking another sip of her coffee and looking out the window.

"Oh, sorry, should I not? I wouldn't want to know the location I'm going to. For your own sake, of course, " She said as they all looked at her again.

"How many times have you been kidnapped?" A guy, beside her with a concerned expression, asked.

"I wouldn't know. It's a habit by now. At this point, I let them. And I literally can't remember half of them." She said, "So can I look out, or not?"

".. yeah, yeah. It's fine, I guess." The guy driving said. "Oh wow, thank you!" She said nicely.

"To be kidnappers, you guys are very nice. If we had met differently, I would've loved to be your friend." She said happily, looking out the window again.

"Man, are you sure she's in the agency? She doesn't seem to care.'' One of the guys, on the left side of the backseat of the car, whispered to the guy next to her. "She said the vice president's name, so yeah. She's been kidnapped multiple times.' He whispered back.

"At this point, I don't care," she whispered back to them. As they turned around to look at her. Confused again.

"What? I'm right beside you, not like whispering will help. I can still hear you." She said to them.

"Ah, right, sorry." The guy on the left side said.

"Oh no, it's alright. If I were you, I'd be asking the same." She said,

Four minutes of nothing but silence, apart from the car's noise, passed by as they were still driving.

"Sorry, it's a bit far." The guy beside her said.

"No, no. It's fine." She said, "Oh, by the way, since I'll probably be with you guys for a while. What can I call you? I'm assuming I can't know your names." She asked them.

Before answering, they all looked at the guy who was driving.

"It's fine, not like we'll be doing this again." He said, "We were contracted just for this," he said, looking at her, from the car's rearview mirror.

"Well then, I'm Maxwell," the guy next to her said, "And I'm Ethan," The guy sitting next to Maxwell responded.

"And Josh is in the front, and Jeremiah is driving,' Maxwell introduced everyone.

"Well, it's nice to meet you guys, I'm sure you know, but I'm Desiree." She said,

"Nice to meet you," Maxwell said kindly. "We were never given your name, so I'm glad you said it." The guy at the front, Josh, said.

"You guys weren't told my name? Then how were you able to find me?" She asked.

"We were just given a small description. Long, light brown hair and green eyes." Ethan responded. "That could have been anyone." She said, "You're the only one with green eyes in your agency," Josh said, questioning her.

"Wait, seriously?" She asked.

"Did you not know?"

"..."

"I'm guessing that's no,"

Jeremiah said as they took a turn.

"Now I feel bad," She said.

'Why?' Maxwell asked.

"cause apparently, I don't pay attention to the people I work with"

"And in your type of job, you're gonna want to pay attention to that," Jeremiah said, taking another turn.

"Exactly," She said as they pulled up near an alleyway.

"People usually don't pay attention to things like that until they're brought up. Don't sweat it," Josh said as they all got out of the car.

"Are we here?" She asked them as they started walking ahead.

"Yeah, we're as surprised as you. We've never been here." Ethan said.

"So this isn't your place?"

"We were given it for today," Jeremiah said, unlocking a door.

As they walked in, he stopped her from entering.

"What?" She asked as he stared at her.

"We haven't given you too much information, right?" He asked, coldly looking at her.

"How should I know that? All I know is this isn't your place."

"What about our names?'

"You were contracted only for this, like that matters."

"You sure?"

"Look, in the while I've been with you guys, I'm pretty fond of you. Even if I find something from here until the last time I see you, I'll keep my mouth shut."

"That doesn't make sense. Why should I trust you?"

"You have nothing to lose, buddy," she said as she walked in.

"Sigh. Unfortunately, I do."
