Since he wasn't able to stop both his friends from getting the beating of a lifetime, Kayden had failed the first ever quest which had been given to him by the system. Although there were no consequences for failing a quest, he was still disappointed in himself for not being able yo assist them in their own time of need.
He had failed to protect the people he cares about once again. Kayden needed to think of a way to ensure that what happened today never repeated itself in the future.
It was clear as day that the school authorities were not going to interfere in the affairs of the students. As long as the offspring of a rich and powerful family doesn't get killed while under the supervision and tutorship of the academy, then they had nothing else to worry about.
At the end of the day, no one cared about the interests of those who had no connections to the influencial. Most especially when you look at the Grand scheme of things. In their minds, everything they did was yo ensure that the most powerful and resourceful survive these times and help defend against the Shales.
Gripping his arm tightly, not willing to let go, Kayden had no choice but to change into his Werewolf form to overpower the student. However, mid-transformation, he felt a kick to the side, causing him to yell out in pain.
He looked up and could see the other student standing before him. The situation wasn't looking white good for him. Knowing that he couldn't take on both students on his own, he feared for this confrontation to happen. And with none of his friends around, he was on his own.
"Get ready to loose your rank to me!" Josh yelled, his eyes wide open with a wide grin on his face, his expression resembling that of a madman.
Not wanting to go down without a fight, he kicked the other student in the head, sending him crashing to the floor. Josh charged at him with his ability charged and ready to deal damage. Seeing this, Kayden was ready to dodge the attack when he could feel something holding his feet in place.
Looking to where the other student had fallen, he could see him lying on the floor with his head raised up, smirking at him. His eyes were glowing, and from his hands, his ability travelled towards Kayden, holding him in place.
'This ability...' Kayden thought.
He had not much time to think about it, as Josh was already dangerously close to him with a fist of burning hot flames. He was inches away from Kayden's snout, when a barrage of claw marks hit him right on his arm and face, forcing him to take a huge step back.
'What?' Kayden thought.
"What's going on here?" a boy asked, walking closer and closer to the fight. Hearing his voice, plus the attitude it carried, Kayden knew of one person who wasn't only brave enough to stand up for him, but stupid enough to put himself in even more danger just to save his friends.
With his bright red hair and matching eyes, his ability was able to give him and Kayden more time to either deal with the two students or find a way out of there current situation. Zain looked at the student lying on the floor.
From what he could tell, he was the reason why Kayden was stuck in place. Directing his attacks at him, the latter yelled in agony as his clothes and flesh were ripped apart in a flurry of claw strikes.
He then directed his attention on to Josh. Having dealt with the other student, Kayden was finally free to move as usual.
"Thanks for the save," he said, which came out as nothing but wolf-like sounds, but Zain got the jist of it.
Although he couldn't sense Zain nearby before, he was glad about one thing. The fact that he was someone who walks fast.
"No problem," he replied, turning his attention onto Josh.
Now, why don't we send this guy on another trip to the infermary?" he asked, cracking his knockles. Kayden smirked in response. From Josh's point of view, there were two dangerous creatures standing before him. One having yellow glowing eyes while the other is a beast once thought of to be. myth centuries ago. Anyone of them could've been enough to make him shit his pants if it was a one-on-one fight.
Kayden ran forward and grabbed him by the neck before he could even think of running away. He knew that he would have to deal with him so he wouldn't have any ideas of messing with him or his friends in the future. Josh struggled to breathe as the latter's claws clasped tightly against his neck. He was terrified for his life.
He tried his best to speak, but Kayden's grip around his neck was too strong to allow him to utter a single word. Sweat began to trickle down his face, his eyes wide in horror. Shocked, he couldn't even gather the courage to activate his ability once more.
Perhaps it could have helped him in this dilemma he had put himself into. His comrade on the floor seemed to have been knocked out, showing no signs if getting back up to his feet anytime soon. His body covered in a pool of his own blood.
Josh couldn't come to grips with the fact that he was all on his own this time. Confronted by two powerful students, who didn't look like they had any plans of showing him mercy. He brought his two hands together in a way to show that he was begging for forgiveness.
He tried opening his mouth to utter the words, but all that could be heard were the sounds of choking as tears began streaming down from his eyes as well. With his other hand, Kayden gripped the latter by the hair, ripping a large chunk of it with force, causing him to bleed from his scalp. Although his screams echoed across the hallway, no one came to his rescue.
"Now, how do I deal with you?" Kayden wondered, glaring into Josh's eyes. The choking sounds brew louder and more frantic.
"Relax, I'm not gonna kill ya. That'll be way too easy of a punishment for what you tried to do," Kayden said with a wide grin. The sight of such a beast grinning at him was enough to make Josh pass out in fright.
"Wake the fuck up!" he yelled, slashing his razor-sharp claws across his face, drawing a massive amount of blood and even breaking his jaw in the process.
Josh's eyes darted open, wanting to scream out in agony. However, half of his jaw had been slashed. Worse, it laid barely hanging on to the upper part of his face. The severity of the injury caused him to bleed out an insane amount of blood. Still, Kayden wasn't satisfied with the results.
Using the hand still grabbing on to his throat, he threw him high in the air, before jumping high up as well. Meeting him midair, he raised his leg, delivering a kick to the skull, sending him crashing towards the floor at a rapid speed.
Meanwhile, Zain picked up the unconscious body of his accomplice, before throwing it against the wall. Then, using his ability, he proceeded to shred parts of his body further, making sure that he avoided any vitals just like the last time so as to not end up killing the student.
Fighting between students at the academy was a normal thing. As such, to ensure that the school, as well s its facilities and equipment, weren't damaged due to these fights, the floors, walls, and everything else the students came in contact with, were built with a rare, highly resistant and durable material capable of handling whatever it was the students produced during clashes.
His body crashed into the floor with a force strong enough to destroy an entire building in seconds. Although the attack, as well as the crash, were brutal, Kayden was sure enough that that wasn't enough to kill him off. Landing on the ground as well, he walked up to Josh's unconscious body before picking him up once again.
"Let this be a lesson that you will never forget," he said, throwing him back onto the floor.
Seeing as the threat was eliminated, and that he and Zain had managed to get through to these two students, Kayden cancelled his transformation and continued walking back to his dorm room. But, similar to what happened prior to the one-sided beat down, a hand had grabbed him by the wrist, urging him to stop.
"I think you and I need to have a little talk," Zain said, looking him in the eye. It was clear that he wasn't going to take no for an answer.
