Chereads / Beast Driven System / Chapter 19 - Growing Stronger

Chapter 19 - Growing Stronger

The purple-coloured ring was designed to grant whoever was wearing it the power of transportation. Although this skill also came in the form of a Tracker Class ability, the fact that magical weapons also possessed abilities made them highly sought after worldwide and is the reason why there are so many of them in today's world.

Kayden was interested in knowing the full extent of the ring's capabilities. Surely, there were limitations that came with this power, similar to the way one's ability worked. There were bound to be things the ring could and could not do and maybe a way to increase its power.

He wasted no time in activating the ring. It began to glow purple as a system notification had appeared at the same time.

[Ring Of Teleportation has been activated]

Kayden then thought of where he wanted to be, similar to how one would use the skill as an ability, and his body suddenly appeared on that very same spot. He looked back at where he once stood, and couldn't help but feel excited.

This ring would be very useful in the future. Still, he wasn't sure whether or not things like distance affected its functionality, so he chose to test this out to see whether it was true or not.

Thinking of where he wanted to be, he had suddenly appeared where that place was, and with that, another notification had appeared.

[Durability: 50%]

Reading the system notification, Kayden was beginning to see that distance had an effect on the weapon's durability, still, there was an up side to all this. Similar to how his body would heal itself using his Mana, the same thing would happen to a magical weapon using the Mana of its user.

Kayden had decided to teleport back into the magical weapons class, and saw that the weapon's durability had dropped by a further forty percent. Channelling his Mana into the ring, he saw as its durability quickly rose until it was ack up to a hundred percent.

Deciding that he was okay with the test results, he decided to head back to his dorm room to call it a day. On his way back, he stumbled across a group of students bullying another student for thirty rank. At this point, seeing something like this had become a normal thing to him.

However, remembering what Zain had told him right after nearly choking him out of this world, he started to wonder about whether or not he should be keeping his problems to himself instead of sharing the with his friends.

During breakfast at the academy and even back in highschool, they would always talked about their own lives, including the things that were bothering them as a way of letting go of the pressure others were placing on them.

They never shyed away from letting the others know about the things that were bothering, however, Kayden couldn't say that he was doing the same thing. Heck, no one but him knew of the fact that he had a system along with his ability.

He wasn't ready to open up to them despite all that was taking place around the school premises. For now, all he could do was focus on everything else while waiting patiently for the first major event of the year.

_________

Meanwhile, while all these things were taking place, in the part of the school meant for only the second year students, another fight was taking place there as well. A fight between their own Titan two and Titan one.

It was clear that the majority were supporting Titan one, however, with the latter's ability, he was making it a tough fight for the supposed strongest student at the academy.

Everyone had stopped whatever they were going to watch this fight unfold. It wasn't everyday that two of the strongest students at the academy went toe-to-toe with each other like this.

The fight was messy and brutal, and ultimately, a winner had emerged, and a new Titan one was born that evening.

__________

Kayden was about to call it a night, seeing as there wasn't anything else left to do for the day. Neither of his roommates were in the room at the time, but he didn't really care. They obviously had lives outside their relationship that they had to take care of.

The remaining days of the week passed by, and fortunately, no one had made an attempt on Kayden or any of his friends. It was finally time for the combat class instructors to move on to another part of their training.

"Alright, after surveying you guys, we have seen that you have all learnt the first technique we have shown you. And since the period of that lesson is finally over, we will now be moving into another Aikido technique called Nikyo.

"Nikyo is a form of Aikido which is also known as the Second Teaching. This is a basic wrist control technique used in self-defense. Nikyo is a jointlock technique that results in extreme pain. It allows one to control an opponent by destroying his will to continue fighting.

"Nikyo is accomplished by flexing and adducting an opponent's wrist, producing an instantaneous sharp pain that causes him to fall to his knees involuntarily to alleviate the pressure. The usual explanations have been nerve compression, joint capsular stretch, tendon/muscle strain, or partial ligamentous disruption.

"Studies of a cadaver's wrist have been shown that Nikyo forcibly compresses the pisiform bone against the ulna, two bones that do not normally articulate. The intense pain thereby produced, results from the stimulation of the periosteal nerves in these bony surfaces."

Having done his best to explain the next technique which the students were supposed to learn, the instructors then went on to do a couple of demonstrations on how to execute the technique like they had done for the Ikkyo technique.

"One of the easiest ways to begin, is to drag your opponent off his point of balance. You do this by dragging him with one hand, while you press the palm of your other hand against the side of his face in the movement. Then, you make sure that your opponent has something to run into so that you don't pull his other hand towards the exposed part of your body.

"While executing this technique, you trail the hand pressing your opponent's face all the way down to the back of the hand you are still holding onto with your other hand. Then, you grab the wrist as you lift it up and place it on your shoulder. You then compresses as you bow towards your opponent.

"This is probably one of the more painful things you do in Aikido, but luckily, you students have abilities, and therefore, can easily heal and injuries you may develop when practicing this technique. It is also good to stay relaxed and move in rhythm with your opponent. Take the elbow, run it over and place his shoulder on the floor. Then, you get down for the pin that accompanies in Nikyo."

After witnessing the instructors demonstrate the movements, the students then got paired with their sparring partners before trying to duplicate what they had seen and could remember. And of course, the technique was quite painful for those who had figured it out rather quickly.

Kayden made sure he was fully focused on the demonstrations and explanations. He felt like he had a good idea of what to do as he looked at his opponent. He then grabbed the latter by the arm, before placing his other hand against his opponent's face, then continuing with the movements leading towards the final pin down. In all of this, he made sure that he didn't make it look perfect and instead, wanted to just blend in with the other students who also managed to somewhat get it right on their first or second try.

"I see that this technique might also take a while for you all to learn, however, this time around, you all will not be focusing on learning just one technique. As you must know, the further you go, the harder things get, and of course, this class isn't an exception to that fact. Now, we will be showing you another technique of Aikido. I hope you all pay attention and managed to grasp the movements and the explanation behind the technique.

"Alongside Nikyo, you will be learning Aikido technique forms such as Sankyo, Yonkyo, Gokyo, and Rokkyo. Sankyo, also known as the Third Teaching, is a basic Aikido wrist control technique that can be used in a variety of different self-defense situations. It is one of the Basic pinning techniques of Aikido. It contains a wrist twist that can be quite painful, if done with too much force. For regular training in a dojo, it is important not to overdo the Sankyo, or members of a dojo would soon get their wrists damaged."
