[Basic Grade Beast]
[Scorpanion: A vicious beast with powerful venom located at the Apex of its stinger. Its natural habitat is the Sandy terrain of the desert. It hurts by either covering itself with sand, waiting for prey to pass by before clasping onto it with its razor sharp, powerful pincers, then injecting it with its venom to kill it off and to make the prey easier to consume by liquefying its inside then sucking it dry. Leaving nothing but a carcas behind before waiting for its next meal to arrive]
[Variations include Infant Scorpanion, Juvenile Scorpanion, Terrible Scorpanion, and then Goliath Scorpanion]
[Infant Scorpanion: It has the basic characteristics. It has the ability to create sandstorms with its speed. Its venom is highly potent and can kill almost instantly]
[Durability: 100%]
'I hate that shit already,' Kayden thought to himself, looking at the other two. They both looked quite determined to fight against this beast. So much so that Kayden was beginning to think that he might have just been over thinking things the moment he saw the creature. The other two looked at him, and as if they had some sort of understanding, they charged at the beast.
Before this class, Dan had gotten a Razor Class ability from one of the students during the combat class. It was the one that allowed you to send visit attacks to your opponent from a distance. Using his Mana, which has risen to seven thousand through rigorous training and determination, he activated the ability and proceeded to send attacks towards the creature.
Similar to the scorpions from Earth, this beast seemed to have a hard, rigid exoskeleton that protected it from the attacks. Seeing this, Kayden was wondering if there was a way to perhaps harm the creature from the inside, as it was clear that its outside was more than difficult to penetrate. It was then that he had gotten an idea, and without telling the others about it, he quickly ran back into the forest.
He wasn't completely sure he knew what he was doing. He just hoped that what he was planning to do would work out and not backfire on him. So far, he had been the one having to save the others, he just hoped that he would be the one to get the Mana potion once this was all over.
Not long after, and he had found what he was looking for. The Dogtooth growled at him, turning his body from the prey it was currently devouring to face Kayden before giving chase. Kayden did his best to outrun the beast, and it wasn't long until they had made it back into the desert. The Dogtooth was still after him, looking determined to kill him and consume his flesh.
He had finally made it back to the others. They seemed to be barely clinging onto life against the Scorpanion. The creature's sharp reflexes and long stinger was proving to be a big threat to them. Even using the Razor Class ability, Dan was finding it difficult to even inflict a scratch on the beast. Meanwhile, Marcus's ability wasn't going to help him in this fight.
However, it seed like Kayden had a plan to solve all of this, as he had led the Dogtooth out into the desert, bringing it towards the current threat. Although this creature wasn't the Ruke that the instructor had told them about, he hoped that they would naturally clash and end of taking each other out.
"Everyone! Run!" Kayden yelled, once the Dogtooth was finally before the Scorpanion. Just as he had hoped, it wasn't long until the two beasts began to fight, forgetting about them, this giving them a golden opportunity to escape. It was clear that both of these beasts were out of their league, so for now, they would just have to search for weaker beasts to kill.
Kayden, Dan, and Marcus ran as fast as their legs were capable of moving further into the desert. Knowing full well that it was the natural habitat of the Scorpanions, he still saw it s choosing between the lesser of two evils, not wanting to go through what he had experienced with a Dogtooth anytime soon.
It wasn't long until the group grew tired from the intense running. Their bodies began to feel sore, and it was going to take their Mana to restore them back to peak physical condition. While their Mana healed their bodies, they would spend that time basking in the view. Although unusual, the scenery of purple sand was quite beautiful, something that they could admit.
It was unlike anything that they had ever seen. The purple sky matched the desert. Luckily for them, they hadn't come across another Scorpanion for quite a while. It was a good thing, as the trio weren't ready for another tango with death. A while later, and they had all been healed from whatever cramps or exhaustion they were feeling. They were good to go, but at this point, they had no idea where to go or where they even were.
"What now?" Marcus asked, shaking his head. He and the others were getting tired of all of this. Clearly, they were not prepared for any of this. The instructor had put them in a difficult situation. Just what were they meat to do now.
Kayden began to scratch his head in thought. This was a test to know how well they would survive in the real world. What were they now meant to do now. With nothing left than to just keep on walking, it wasn't long until they could see a bunch of structures not too far away from where they stood. Eyes filled with excitement, they quickly descended down the large sand dune, running towards the structures. Although it was a couple miles away, they didn't mind, as anything now would be better than being exposed out in the open.
Upon making it to the outskirts from what they could make out to be a small town, they met up with a couple of the local folk, asking about where they could perhaps find weak beasts to hunt. The man they were talking to quickly directed them towards a large building in the town. Following his instructions, they had arrived at the building which had a large sign upfront that said 'Adventurers' Guild.'
The inside was filled with people having all sorts of weapons on them. There were so many that Markus almost got lost in the crowd, however Dam was there to keep him on track. Asking a few questions here and there, they had finally made it to the main desk where assignments were given to adventurers to complete. Although they were not adventurers since they were still students, the man behind the desk didn't seem to mind as he handed over a digital map to them.
Of course, Kayden knew about adventurers from his time back at home researching about abilities. He may not have been able to look up kinds of beasts Bak at home, he knew about the fact that adventurer guilds could always be found on one of these planets in the Red Solar System. It was just a matter of them finding it by chance that allowed them to get as far as they had.
The map had led them through the desert into what looked to be another forest, however, this one seemed somewhat different from the last one. For one, they hadn't encountered a Dogtooth ever since entering this forest. After travelling for a while, they had finally stumbled across what it was they were looking for. Slithering across the floor, looking a little over four feet long, were the beasts that they would be hunting for now.
The map stated that they were called Slither Worms. Using his system, it brought up more info on them. Reading through, he didn't think much about how the system had been kind of vague with certain information and decides to start attacking them immediately. Thankfully, these Basic Grade beasts were a lot easier to kill than the other two they had encountered.
'It seems like, although these three beasts are of the same grade, that is not all that determines their strength. I can see that amongst beasts grades, there are still vast power differences that can be noticed as well,' Kayden was making quick work of the slither worms. Seeing that he was easily killing these beasts, Dan decided to join in as well, slashing at them with the claw marks.
'Hmm... so what am I gonna do now?' Marcus wondered. His eyes fell upon a couple of the slither worms, then a thought popped up in his head. Closing his eyes, he began to concentrate. It wasn't long until a few of the worms began to act strange. Instead of attacking the intruders, they began attacking their fellow slither worms.
Other than that, these slither worms seemed more powerful that the others, as they easily bit and tipped apart the other slither worms to shreds. The trio made quick work of the beasts, and now, before them were piles of glass viles of different colors. Not wanting to offend themselves, they had decided to share them based on the number of beasts they had killed, luckily, everyone was keeping count of their kills.
