Chapter 3 - Lying to Mia

Lucian arrived in front of the familiar golden coloured gate as he pushed and went in, ignoring the gate's loud groan.

The outer walls holding the gate was riddled with cracks and holes and the gate itself was extremely rusty from old age.

But entering into the compound, a pavement covered in beautiful blue tiles extended into the distance to the front of a house.

A beautiful garden surrounded the entire place painting an extremely beautiful picture around the house.

It was a typical case to never judge the book by its cover.

Lucian's ear suddenly perked up as he felt a beautiful melody pass into his ears from the far end of the garden behind the house. The control of his muscles seemed to have been forcefully hijacked from him as they uncontrollably moved towards the source of the sound.

At the house backyard was a beautiful cherry tree. Pink coloured flowers occasionally drifted down from it painting the green coloured flowers beneath it in a mixture of pink. An aura of serenity and peace covered the place as Lucian felt his sorrow being washed away with every breath.

Beneath the tree, a beautiful girl of about 13 sat, a pink coloured flute pressed against her cherry red lips. Her snow white hair which reached down to her waist spread out on the flowers behind her while her pink dress spread out around her.

A long walking stick was place beside her, concealing itself under the flowers.

A beautiful tone emerged from the flute, as the different flowers present around gently danced to the melody, the cool breeze aiding their gracefulness. Different blue coloured birds surrounded her as if audience as they gently wag their tail to the tune.

Lucian was unconsciously dazed by the picture as the melody slowly came to halt upon his arrival.

This was his sister Mia. The only family he had left. While he had dark hair and blue eyes, Mia was the exact opposite as she possessed long white hair and blue eyes which were slightly grey. A sign of her blindness.

"Luc, you ruined my play again"Mia said pouting in anger.

It took her so much effort to call those fluffy thing Lucian called birds but now they were all gone.

"It wasn't my fault your play is so good, besides what did I tell you about leaving the house. You can easily trip and get yourself injured." Lucian said with a serious tone as he carefully removed the small tree branches from her hair.

It must have been left behind by those darn birds who can't find a better place to stay than his sister's head.

To be honest he was always amazed when Mia play the flute as she attract all kind of birds to herself.

No matter how much he himself played, the bird never for once neared him, but he was aware of the reason.

It was simple.

It was due to his majestic aura. It was just too overwhelming for such small beings to bear.

Carrying up the walking stick, he gently lifted her up in his arms as he made his way back to the house.

"Hey, Put me down I can walk myself." Lucian ignored her as he continued walking ignoring the stinging blows to his chest.

Arriving before the house, his hands reached for the knob as he twisted it and entered.

It was a relatively simple house.

A large living room with a study at its corner, two bedrooms, a kitchen and two restrooms.

Placing Mia in a chair, he made his way to the kitchen to arrange for dinner.

20 minutes later

Four plates of different assortments of foods were carefully arranged on the table in front of Lucian, opposite which was Mia.

The events of the day had made him extremely tired mentally as he immediately dug into the food when a voice interrupted him halfway.

"Huh.., Luc.".Mia called.

"Yeah?"Lucian replied his spoon just a centimeter from digging in.

"You didn't say your prayers. If you don't say your prayers, then the devil will come eat with you."

"What the?" Lucian said with disbelief.

Lucian stared at her in disbelief but seeing the cute and innocent expression. He could only give in.

"In the name of the heavens, we begin our meal and in it we finish." Lucian said as he immediately dug into the food.

After eating a mouthful, he stopped and stretched his hands forward grabbing on Mia's as he directed her hand to the location of foods on the table.

While Mia might be blind, she was very smart. He only need to point out her hand to the direction of the plates of foods and she'll eat properly without dipping her spoon in the wrong place. Even Lucian himself couldn't do that.

The duo ate silently plunging the place in silence but was soon broken by Mia.

"So Luc, how was the martial spirit awakening test. What's your Martial spirit." Mia asked with curiousity.

"Hmm." Lucian's hand immediately halted as the memories he had been trying to forget resurfaced once again. Now he was lost, should he tell her he couldn't awaken a martial spirit and that they have been banished due to that. Would his freehearted sister want to hear that?

"It's a powerful martial spirit. It's called Heavenly Nature Martial spirit." Lucian replied.

"Wow. lt sounds very beautiful, what does it do." Mia asked with curiousity unaware of the pain that repeatedly assault Lucian's heart.

"It's a martial spirit granting the ability to accelerate growth.

I can make a seed grown into a tree in minutes and control all the animals in the first as I will."

Mia's tiny mind was completely blown away as her feet repeatedly clattered under the table.

"Luc, that's so cool" She said almost screaming in glee.

"Yes, but there's a disadvantage". Lucian.

"What's the disadvantage?"

"I can't do all that yet. If I want to do that, I'll have to comprehend my martial spirit more better and that can only be achieved by being close to nature. That's how I can grow faster. So Mia, we'll be leaving the clan and to a new home, tomorrow." Lucian said finally getting to his main point.

"Oh."Mai said, her voice dropping but immediately brightened up in the next second as she asked:

"Will our new home have beautiful nice smelling flowers and birds."

"Sure thing. The flowers will be ten time more nicely smelling. It also situated beside a beautiful pool, you'll spend all time swimming."Lucian said rilling her up.

"But I can't swim."

"Don't worry I'll teach you." Lucian said.

"Then let's get going already." Mia, as she started eating hurriedly.

"No, it's too late now. We'll leave early tomorrow."

"Oh ok. Then I can't wait for tomorrow."Mia said as she finished her food and moved to the bathroom to have a shower before bed.

Lucian sat down in the chair as he stared at the girl who was jumping up in happiness, slowly disappearing from his sight.

A deep sign escaped Lucian's lips as he thought to himself.

'This is the second time I'll be lying to you Mia.'

Mia was still too young. He didn't want her to be saddened. Although she'll later know one day, at least that'll be when she's a little more mature.

Lucian packed up the plates as he headed to the kitchen to clean them up.

-- -- --

30 minutes later...

Lucian gently closed the bed time book as he stared at the young girl sleeping soundly in the bed. He placed the book on the table as he headed to where she was sleeping and dragged the mattress up to cover her shoulders well.

"Goodnight Mia". Lucian said as he slowly moved towards his own room too.

Even though there was a banquet for those who awakened their martial spirit today. He didn't attend.

Meanwhile on top of the Patriarch's mansion.

Two men sat crosslegged opposite each other as the air blow their hair around erratically.

One of them was a bald old man with a beard reaching his navel. This was the elder who banished Lucian from the clan.

Opposite him was a middle aged man of about 40 covered in a blue coloured robe. His hair were blue while a mirage of a blue burning flame could be seen on it as if they were on fire.

This was the patriarch of the BurningBlue clan. The strongest person in the burningblue clan and one of the top ten strongest in Azure Dragon province.
