Indeed, Emily Williams was dressed in a T-shirt paired with denim shorts, and she wore a pair of sneakers. She came prepared, but since her boss was not satisfied, she could only work hard to please him.
Standing in the center of the living room, Emily Williams lightly propped her chin and scanned the room for a moment. "I really don't think there's anything wrong with this decoration."
"I prefer cool tones," Alex Hamilton replied with an air of nonchalance.
"What's so good about cool tones? They look lifeless in the summer and even colder in the winter. I think warm tones can make people's mood more relaxed, and those living here would feel very comfortable," Emily argued.
"When people are relaxed and living an easy life, they become lazy, less vigilant, and their efficiency decreases, or even disappears. What's the difference between having a pig stay here?" Alex Hamilton finished speaking and continued sipping his coffee.
Pouting in dissatisfaction, Emily muttered, "There are some cool-toned decorative materials in the storage room. I'll go get them."
"I don't want those materials piled up in the warehouse. Buy new ones, use my card, and make sure I'm satisfied," Alex Hamilton tossed a card to Emily Williams.
Emily Williams caught the card and said, "You may not be satisfied with what I buy. Do you want to come with me?"
"No need, as long as it's cool-toned and made with the best materials. Everything you see now has to be replaced, especially in my room. The pink curtains really make me uncomfortable. Hurry up and change them. I really don't know what's going on in your head," Alex Hamilton said, walking towards the second floor.
Helpless, Emily Williams had no choice but to go out alone.
As Emily Williams brought back the cool-toned paints, curtains, sofa, comforter, and bed sheets to the villa, Alex Hamilton sat on a recliner on the outdoor terrace, peacefully closing his eyes.
Emily Williams laboriously moved each piece of furniture and material she had bought into the villa, without Alex Hamilton bothering to help.
After all the things were moved inside, Alex Hamilton's voice came softly, "Why didn't you ask for my help with such heavy work?"
"How could I dare to trouble you?" Emily Williams knew he was mocking her and focused solely on her work.
"Well then, I'll leave it to you, my dear assistant. I'll go back to my room and rest for a bit. Tomorrow, I still need to investigate the data properly. But I really don't know how you became the finance department manager. I had to come all the way from the United States to deal with your mess." Alex Hamilton stretched and stood up.
"I just became the finance department manager, okay? I only discovered this problem when I took office," Emily Williams gritted her teeth in anger. She hated it when people didn't recognize her abilities.
"Oh, I really don't know if you're unlucky or lucky."
"Of course, it's unlucky." If it wasn't for this situation, she wouldn't have to be his special assistant and deal with his constant nitpicking every day.
"Alright then, I won't bother you anymore. I'll go back to my room and rest for a while." Hamilton took a leisurely stroll up the stairs and stopped at the corner. "Oh, by the way, keep your voice down, it shouldn't affect the quality of my sleep."
Emily Williams gave him a displeased glare and continued to contemplate her layout.
After painting, changing curtains, replacing the sofa and pillows with cool tones, and cleaning both inside and outside the villa, Emily Williams finally nodded in satisfaction.
Although she changed to cool tones, Emily Williams had a basic understanding of color layout. It mainly added a sense of calmness, personality, and grandeur to the space without feeling too cold. She couldn't help it, she strived for perfection in her work. Although Hamilton was truly annoying, she wouldn't target him personally, she would only do her best with the tasks at hand.
"Mr. Hamilton, I have finished decorating the house." Emily Williams shouted towards the staircase and sat down on the sofa, feeling satisfied. It was then that she felt sore and numb all over her body, she was really exhausted. She sat up and rubbed her arms. At this moment, Hamilton had already come downstairs.
Hamilton knew Emily Williams was dedicated, but he didn't expect the newly decorated interior to be so perfect. He suddenly had a certain level of respect for Emily Williams' abilities.
"How is it, flawless, right?" Emily Williams looked at him proudly.
"If you had decorated with cool tones from the beginning, there would be no need to redecorate. Don't do those thankless tasks in the future." Hamilton walked towards the kitchen after speaking.
Emily Williams leaned against the back of the sofa. "You're right, Mr. Hamilton. I'll go back now. It's uncomfortable being covered in sweat. I want to go home and take a shower. See you tomorrow." Emily Williams picked up her bag, ready to leave.
"Don't hurry, the fridge is empty." Hamilton called her back.
Emily Williams turned around. "I already left my credit card on the table. Just buy whatever you want yourself. There's a supermarket nearby, it's only a few minutes away on foot."
"Is that so? Then go quickly and come back quickly." Hamilton sat down on the living room sofa and turned on the television.
Emily Williams bit her lip. He really had become addicted to enslaving her. Despite feeling resentful, she immediately felt energized at the thought of completing the task and being able to go home. She quickly rushed towards the nearby supermarket.
The sky rumbled with thunder, and dark clouds loomed overhead. The leaves of the trees rustled as Emily Williams hurried along the sidewalk, carrying a bag of groceries. She wanted to get back home before the impending storm. She couldn't understand how her luck had turned so quickly. It was sunny when she left, but somehow, as soon as she walked out of the supermarket, the weather had changed.
Emily Williams wished she had gone back to the store to buy an umbrella. But she had forgotten her wallet, and she was using Hamilton's card. She didn't know if he would confront her about spending his money, so she hastened her steps, hoping to reach home before the rain started pouring.
As she approached the villa, the sky let out a thunderous roar, and the rain suddenly poured down in torrents. Emily Williams continued walking, using her hands to shield her head from the rain. But the large raindrops pelted her, and in an instant, she became drenched. The once-clean sneakers she was wearing became muddy as she trod on the wet ground. A passing car splashed her with even more mud, despite her efforts to avoid it.
Emily Williams's clothes were soaked, and the dirty water trickled down from her fair legs. She knew she must look incredibly disheveled at the moment. Thankfully, the bag of food she had bought remained unharmed as she clutched it tightly. Otherwise, she wouldn't know how to explain it to Hamilton.
Just as Emily Williams was about to reach the doorstep of the villa, she noticed a figure in the distance. Wait, wasn't that Hamilton? She was overjoyed to see him standing outside the villa, holding an umbrella, seemingly ready to greet her.
Although Emily Williams was completely soaked, her heart warmed at the sight. She hurriedly approached, wanting to find shelter under Hamilton's umbrella. However, Hamilton remained indifferent, showing no intention of shielding her from the wind and rain. He simply extended his hand to her. Thinking he wanted to hold her hand, she timidly reached out with a heart beating like a deer.
But all Hamilton said was, "Give me the bag you're holding."
Emily Williams realized how embarrassingly messy she must look at that moment. She forced a smile, awkwardly handed him the plastic bag filled with snacks and drinks. He merely moved her food under his umbrella, while she still stood exposed to the rain.
As the rain poured relentlessly, Hamilton climbed the steps to the front door, glancing back at her. He couldn't help but appreciate Emily Williams's figure, usually so conservative. Despite her drenched appearance that made her seem disheveled, the thin fabric of her white t-shirt clung to her body, revealing the edges of a pink bra. It accentuated her well-proportioned curves, giving her a seductive allure. His gaze remained fixated on her, unable to look away.
Hamilton suddenly realized that he was not immune to the charms of women. He couldn't resist an attractive woman. Seeing Emily Williams standing with her arms crossed, her wet body trembling, he closed his umbrella and handed it to her before entering the villa himself.
Emily Williams stood silently in place, rain dripping from her body like a rain man. She placed the umbrella by the entrance and walked into the villa, intending to grab her bag and leave. However, Alex Hamilton's tall figure blocked her way.
Emily Williams lifted her gaze. "Is there something else you need?"
"I think you have poor time management. So, how about this? Since this place is spacious and has extra rooms, you can move in and be on call 24/7," said Alex Hamilton, his deep eyes staring at her like a predator eyeing its prey. The presence of the prey made his blood race.
"As you say, although I may have poor time management, I have never been late. Besides, I need my personal space. After work, I want to spend time with my family. So, I'm sorry, but I can't comply with your request," Emily Williams replied.
"Fine, if our cooperation is so unpleasant, then I'll have to ask the chairman to replace you," Alex Hamilton threatened intentionally.
"Go ahead and replace me! I no longer wish to accompany a cold-blooded creature like you!" Emily Williams thought to herself, her teeth itching with frustration as she prepared to turn and leave.
But just as Emily Williams took a step, she realized that if the chairman really replaced her, her future in the company would be even more difficult. After all, she had just been promoted to the position of Finance Department Manager and had to interact with various departments. If she were labeled negatively, her work would be affected.
With this in mind, Emily Williams stopped in her tracks, took a deep breath, and turned back with a smile towards Alex Hamilton. "Alright then, I already promised the chairman to cooperate with your work. In that case, I'll move in tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?" Alex Hamilton shook his head. "No, I want you to move in tonight."
"Tonight?" Emily Williams looked at Alex Hamilton in front of her and glanced at the pouring rain outside the window, appearing hesitant.
"Yes, I don't want to endure your tardiness tomorrow morning," Alex Hamilton said, dropping the subject and returning to his television.
