Chapter 11 - Genuine Confession

During this period, Emily Williams felt very depressed because she knew that once she cooperated with Alex Hamilton to complete his mission, he would have to leave. And she couldn't tell him about her own concerns, she could only watch him leave with wide-open eyes.

But during this time, Alex Hamilton's attitude towards her was uncertain, sometimes cold and sometimes warm, and she didn't know how to face his departure.

Footsteps could be heard in the corridor outside, and Alex Hamilton appeared at her doorstep. His voice was as cold as ever, "Don't tell me you've been working all night long."

Emily Williams looked at him, "Because there's a banquet tonight, so I thought..."

"You exhausted yourself, and it's not good for anyone. I don't want to work with someone who's sick." Hamilton interrupted her, looking at her tired face and those dark circles under her eyes. He knew she would never understand how much he cared, he just expressed his concern in the wrong way.

Emily Williams never imagined that she would be scolded by Alex Hamilton for sacrificing sleep and working hard. She stood up, angry, looking at him, unable to control the sense of injustice and the surging emotions in her heart.

"Alex Hamilton, what exactly do you want from me to be satisfied? I've always worked like this, what's so strange about it? Working a few nights overtime, my body can handle it. But you always find fault with me, no matter what I do, you're never satisfied..."

Her lips were salty, Emily Williams knew she was crying. She raised her hand and wiped her tears forcefully, but the tears resurged disobediently.

Seeing her tear-streaked face, Alex Hamilton felt helpless for the first time. "Alright, I can increase your salary to compensate you. Please stop crying."

Unexpectedly, he wanted to compensate her with money. It hurt Emily Williams deeply. "Do you think I worked overtime because of money? I just want to do my job well. Why do you always stand on your own standpoint and look at others through your own perspective? Why don't you understand other people's feelings at all?" Why can't you see my heart?

The thing that hurt Emily Williams the most, she couldn't say it out loud. After the moment of outburst, she stood silently in place, tears streaming down her face in sadness.

Alex Hamilton pulled her towards him, raising his hand to wipe away her tears, his actions dominant but gentle in strength.

"I'm sorry." This was the first time he apologized in his life, and it was so difficult for him to say it, but it was sincere.

"Who wants your apology?" Emily Williams pounded on his chest, knowing that she must look ridiculous, being cry provoked by him.

"Don't ask for my apology, what do you want? Do you want me?" Alex Hamilton rarely joked to comfort her.

Through tear-filled eyes, Emily Williams saw the smile on Hamilton's face and realized how beautiful it was. The smile that blossomed on his stern face had the power to melt ice and snow, no wonder she always found herself lost in his smile.

Emily Williams stared blankly at his smile, forgetting that tears were still staining her own face.

Hamilton gently wiped away her tears with his slender fingertips. "Crybaby, do you really want me?" he asked.

This teasing remark was actually his sincere confession. If she gave him a positive answer, perhaps he would pause his footsteps for her.

"No way!" Emily Williams turned her face away, knowing that she was saying something she didn't mean. Although she felt upset, she didn't know what to do to make Hamilton stay.

Hamilton placed his hand softly on the back of her head, allowing her to lean gently on his shoulder. "Alright then, I'll lend you my shoulder for now."

"Now that I've finished crying, who needs your shoulder?" Emily Williams chuckled through her tears, "But wiping away my tears and snot is acceptable."

She buried her face in his shoulder and rubbed it forcefully.

"You're so disgusting," Hamilton pretended to be angry, but the next moment he laughed because he saw the smile on Emily Williams' face. He realized that it was genuine, and she had already found a place in his heart.

Hamilton lifted Emily Williams up and placed her gently on her bed, making her lie down.

Emily Williams looked at Hamilton's gentle expression nervously. She thought he was going to do the same thing he did the previous night, but she didn't bring it up again because she believed he didn't remember.

With a cautious look, Emily Williams unexpectedly saw Hamilton simply covering her with the blanket.

"I'll do today's work, you just get a good night's sleep. I don't want to attend the banquet tonight with a giant panda by my side."

"It's okay, I can do my makeup to cover up the dark circles," Emily Williams said seriously.

Hamilton placed a finger on her lips. "Shh, sleep well."

Emily Williams nodded as she looked at him and closed her eyes, soon drifting off into dreams.

After taking a shower in the evening, Hamilton stepped out of the bathroom and saw Emily Williams sitting on the sofa in the living room, wearing a nightgown. She was painting her toenails, her black hair softly cascading down and partially covering her face.

In that moment, her serenity and gentleness deeply touched him. However, at the same moment, she suddenly looked up, and their eyes met.

After staring for a moment, Hamilton calmly walked to the kitchen to get a drink, while Emily Williams blushed.

"Time is almost up, put on your dress, and let's go," Hamilton said, standing behind her as he finished his water.

"Okay," Emily Williams stood up, worried that her freshly polished nail polish would be ruined by her slippers, and walked barefoot up the stairs.

Hamilton shook his head, unable to do anything about her, and walked over to scoop her up in his arms.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Emily Williams was lifted by Hamilton and patted his arm.

"I made you cry this morning, now I'm making up for it," Hamilton smiled slightly, stepping up the stairs.

As Emily Williams looked at Hamilton's charming lip line and the curve of his mouth, she became somewhat lost in thought. Despite his usual dominance and lack of sentimentality, his occasional show of gentleness made it impossible for her to conceal her feelings of attraction.

Hamilton carried her into the room and set her down.

Emily Williams went back to the suitcase to search for her dress, sweat slowly trickling down her back. When she moved in, it seemed that she forgot to bring her dress.

She turned around, wringing her fingers, and stuttered, "Can I go home and get my dress first?"

Hamilton sighed, "There's no time, I'll accompany you to buy one."

"It's expensive," Emily Williams usually didn't wear dresses and disliked attending those social events. She had no use for a dress and didn't want to waste money on it.

"Consider it an apology, I'll buy you one," Hamilton really couldn't understand Emily Williams. Although she had a good figure, she preferred to wear tightly fitted suits.

"You carried me up here just now, isn't that already an apology?" Emily Williams looked at Hamilton, somewhat puzzled.

"Give yourself five minutes, change into any clothes and let's leave. I don't want to be criticized for being late," Hamilton, who had a strong sense of time, turned around and walked out of Emily Williams's room.

"Hmph, he really is a strange guy without any sentimentality, always so overbearing and domineering," Emily Williams grumbled discontentedly, grabbing any random clothes and changing into them.

In a brightly lit high-end dress shop, Hamilton sat on the central sofa, supporting his chin as he flipped through fashion magazines. The models in the magazine had already showcased this season's evening dresses to the fullest, but he still had his expectations.

The dressing room door opened, and Emily Williams walked out in a white cocktail dress.

Alex Hamiltonzheng sat up, wearing a sleek white dress that shimmered under the lights. It hugged Emily Williams' well-proportioned figure, and the stylish belt accentuated her slender waist, giving her a fuller appearance. The hem of the dress fell just above her knees, revealing her long and fair legs, but...

Her legs were too sexy. Hamilton couldn't let the men at the banquet have impure thoughts when they saw her legs.

"Mr. Hamilton, is this one suitable?" Emily Williams smiled softly.

Hamilton was almost enchanted by her angelic smile, but he shook his head. "Change it."

Emily Williams pouted and walked into the dressing room.

When Emily Williams appeared before Alex Hamiltonzheng again, the white dress had been replaced with a seductive black gown.

The black fabric made her fair skin appear even more radiant, and as she gracefully lifted the hem of the dress and twirled, Hamilton became instantly captivated.

"What do you think of this one?" Emily Williams asked for his opinion.

Once again, Hamilton shook his head. It was too sexy. He realized that Emily Williams could be dangerous when she dressed up.

Over the next few attempts, Emily Williams tried on several evening dresses she thought were nice, but each time, Hamilton responded with a shake of his head. She was getting annoyed.

"Hamilton, if you don't pick a dress soon, the dinner will start," Emily Williams reminded her boss, clenching her fists.

In truth, Emily Williams looked great in whichever dress she wore, and Hamilton even considered taking her to the event as she was. But when he caught a glimpse of her cleavage and her sexy long legs, he couldn't help but shake his head. Her figure was too hot, and those dresses would only make her more enticing.

Seeing the disappointment in Emily Williams' eyes, Hamilton walked over to the display rack and chose a more conservative pink embroidered qipao. The smooth pink satin was elegant yet cute, with tiny red flowers delicately embroidered on it. Though it reached just above the knees, it was perfect compared to the dresses that made Emily Williams look even more sensual and alluring.

"Sir, you have an eye for it. I initially thought those dresses would make this lady more charming, but this one might suit her personality better," the sales assistant said as she handed the qipao to Emily Williams.

Emily Williams had never worn a qipao before, but since Hamilton had chosen it for her, she was eager to try it on.

When she stood before Hamilton again, he reluctantly nodded his approval.

This cheongsam is conservative enough, unlike the previous ones that were more revealing. Although it still leaves room for imagination about her well-proportioned figure, this is indeed the most conservative dress in this store.
