Hamilton looked at her and said, "Foolish girl, let's not talk about this issue for now. Once everything settles down, I will give you an answer. Of course, my answer won't disappoint you."
Emily Williams nodded, regretting asking such a question. She didn't want Hamilton to be caught in a dilemma, and if Hamilton didn't give her a clear answer, she didn't want to pursue it further.
For several days in a row, Emily Williams lost her appetite and couldn't focus. She was afraid that one day she would wake up and find Hamilton leaving again.
Hamilton has been very busy lately. Although they live together in a villa, they don't have a common job. They are usually busy with their own tasks. The more silent Hamilton became, the more Emily Williams would overthink, thinking that Hamilton would really leave.
Little did she know, Hamilton had already made the decision to stay. He chose to stay by her side. He kept the transfer of headquarters a secret from Emily Williams, just to save her from worry.
After the transfer was completed, Hamilton enthusiastically ran to Emily Williams' room to share the good news with her.
Emily Williams was flipping through reference books, having decided to obtain more licenses. She knew she must become better in order to be a companion worthy of Hamilton.
Hamilton took the reference book from her hands, flipped through a few pages, and looked up at Emily Williams. "Why are you reading these books? Are you thinking of going abroad?"
Emily Williams shook her head. "Just casually looking." She admitted that these reference books were difficult and she couldn't understand them at all.
"You silly girl, I have already decided to stay and be with you. There's no need to read these books." Hamilton smiled mischievously at her.
"Really?" A smile blossomed on Emily Williams' face, and her worries dissipated, replaced by joy.
"I can't bear to lie to you." Hamilton touched her head, his eyes filled with adoration.
"But I don't know how to introduce you to my family. Are we moving too fast?" Worries flooded Emily Williams' mind, and her face was filled with concern.
"Are you afraid to say that I'm your boyfriend or that I'm your husband?" Hamilton helplessly looked at Emily Williams.
"I can't exactly say that I moved out for a while and ended up living with a man, falling in love with him." Emily Williams twirled her fingers anxiously.
Hamilton reached out his hand in front of her, "Give me the phone."
Emily Williams grabbed the phone on the table, "No, let's talk to them later, okay?"
"Strike while the iron is hot." Hamilton took the phone and dialed Emily Williams' home number.
"Emily, when are you going to come back? Your mom made some delicious soup for you." Emily's mom's voice came through from the other end.
"Auntie, hello." Hamilton stared at Emily Williams' face and politely greeted Emily's mom.
"Who are you..." Emily's mom's voice became cautious upon hearing the unfamiliar male voice, "Please let Emily talk on the phone."
"Auntie, please rest assured. I am Emily's boss and also her...boyfriend. If I have the chance, I will visit Uncle and Auntie in person."
There was a sound of a falling ladle on the other end, and Emily Williams squinted her eyes; she knew her mom must have lost control.
"You... are you the boss that Emily mentioned, the one who is going to move in to cooperate with work? Are you a foreigner?" Emily's mom struggled to control her emotions before being able to say these words.
"Yes, I am the boss who lives together with Emily, but I am not a foreigner. I just grew up in the United States." Hamilton earnestly answered Emily's mom's questions.
"Living together?" Emily's mom couldn't stay calm again, "Can you let Emily take the call?"
"Emily is currently... busy and may not be able to take the call. I will ask her to call you back later, alright?" Hamilton spoke respectfully.
"Alright." Emily's mom hung up the phone.
Emily Williams tightly pinched Hamilton's arm. The conversation with her mom was driving her crazy.
"What do you mean, living together? Can't you speak properly?" Emily Williams gritted her teeth.
"Aren't we living together? You even sleep in my bed. Otherwise, I can make a call now to clarify that we are not living together, just that you occasionally sleep in my bed." Hamilton said as he tried to grab her phone.
"No, don't. You are not allowed to say anything further." Emily Williams grabbed his arm to stop him.
"Let me not hit you, you know what to do, please me well." Hamilton lay on the bed, with his head resting on his arm. Emily Williams looked at his handsome face and gently patted his cheek with her palm. "You want me to please you? Dream on."
"Not cooperating, huh? Are you sure?" Hamilton sat up, grabbing Emily Williams' hand, with a look that indicated he would force himself upon her if she didn't obediently comply.
"Alright, I'll cooperate with you, but you're not allowed to move." Emily Williams reluctantly compromised, but mischievous thoughts were already brewing in her mind.
"Hmm." Hamilton laid back down, curious to see what Emily Williams had in mind.
Emily Williams smiled and reached her hands towards Hamilton's waist. "Watch how I please you, ha!" Her hands started tickling him on his sides.
Hamilton swiftly turned around, pinning the playfully teasing Emily Williams down on the bed, straddling her.
"Now you'll learn the consequences of being stubborn." Hamilton rubbed his fists together and then extended his hand towards her waist.
"No, can't I just apologize and be forgiven?" Emily Williams hated being tickled the most. Even before Hamilton started moving his hand, she was already screaming.
Hamilton looked at her with a smile. "Emily Williams, you're also scared sometimes, huh?"
Emily Williams looked at him, smiling without saying a word. The moment she was most afraid was when he left, when his departure left a void in her heart. But that was all in the past, and she was no longer worried.
"Silly girl, I love you," Hamilton said tenderly, gazing at her.
"I love you too." In that moment, Emily Williams was immersed in happiness.
Hamilton publicly acknowledged his relationship with Emily Williams, and various rumors started circulating in the company. There were many versions of the story, and Hamilton had heard some of them. Emily Williams had long grown accustomed to these rumors and paid no mind, focusing on her work diligently.
As Hamilton walked through the pantry, he slowed his pace upon hearing Emily Williams' name.
"Hey, anyone notice how smug Emily Williams looks?"
"Hamilton is back and openly acknowledged their relationship. Can she not be smug?"
"Hmph, just a pretty face. Let's see how long she can stay smug."
"Yeah, Hamilton won't give up his promising future for this pretty face."
Upon hearing this, Hamilton entered the pantry with a cold expression and made himself a cup of coffee.
The female employees in the lounge silenced hurriedly, their faces turning pale. They wondered if he had heard everything.
Hamilton finished sipping his coffee and took a step out of the pantry. As everyone let out a sigh of relief, he turned back to the resting area. "It seems that you all are quite dissatisfied with what you call a 'decorative vase' woman."
"Mr. Hamilton..." those people didn't know what to say, fearing his anger.
"Even if she is a decorative vase, she still has more substance than all of you gossipers. Instead of wasting time talking about others, reflect on yourselves and see if you have the qualifications to judge others."
"Yes, Mr. Hamilton, we apologize," a few of them lowered their heads.
"In any case, I don't want to hear anyone discussing her again. Let me tell you, the chairman made her my special assistant because he recognizes her abilities. She works well with me because she truly has the skills. Stop assessing others with your narrow-mindedness."
"Mr. Hamilton, we understand," a few weak voices responded.
At that moment, Emily Williams entered the pantry carrying a water glass. Seeing Hamilton conversing with his colleagues, she was taken aback.
"Are you all chatting here?" Emily Williams curiously looked at Hamilton, unaware of when he had become so familiar with his coworkers.
Hamilton smirked, wrapping his arm around her shoulder, and led her out of the pantry.
"Wait, I haven't poured myself hot water yet."
"Just drink my coffee. I don't mind sharing the cup with you."
"No way, I don't like coffee."
The group of coworkers who had been reprimanded witnessed Hamilton and Emily Williams affectionately showing their love to each other. They were both envious and jealous.
The lazy afternoon sunlight spilled lazily over the corridor outside the first floor of the villa. Hamilton leaned back on the recliner and fell asleep, his handsome profile embraced by the light and shadow.
Emily Williams half crouched next to him, wanting to reach out and pinch his sharp nose, but her eyes caught sight of his resting hand, with long and attractive fingertips. A clever idea came to her, and she stood up and walked back inside, retrieving a bottle of nail polish and a lipstick.
She returned to Hamilton's side and unscrewed the nail polish cap, delicately brushing it onto his nails. After finishing one hand, she tiptoed over to the other side and painted the nails of his other hand.
When Emily Williams knelt down on the floor, suppressing her laughter as she began outlining Hamilton's lips with the lipstick, he opened his dark and profound eyes, seeing her right before him.
Emily Williams hadn't anticipated that he would wake up suddenly, causing her to quickly step back, pretending nothing had happened, with the lipstick clenched in her palm.
Hamilton raised his hand to wipe his lips, noticing the red color on his fingertips and all his nails painted red, like a woman's.
"Poof!" Emily Williams couldn't help but cover her mouth and laugh.
"Give you one minute, clean your nails right away for me," Alex Hamiltonshouted at her.
Emily Williams made a face at him, walked down the steps, and ran onto the lawn.
"If I catch you, I won't be polite with you," Alex Hamiltonsaid impolitely.
"I'm not afraid of you," Emily Williams looked at Alex Hamilton, who was usually strict, but now looked charming. She couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Seeing Emily Williams laughing uncontrollably, Alex Hamiltondidn't show any sign of admitting his mistake. He walked down the steps and chased after Emily Williams.
"If you dare to come near me, I won't be polite with you either," Emily Williams said as she ran, grabbing the hose lying on the grass used for watering flowers, turning on the tap, and aiming it at Alex Hamilton.
