Chereads / THE FIFTH ELEMENT / Chapter 16 - Chapter Fifteenth

Chapter 16 - Chapter Fifteenth

When we got back inside the school building, most of us went to the cafeteria to get something to eat.

As usual Madeline and her friends and I sat at their usual table.

"Today was so fun." David said.

"Yeah. It's been a while we witnessed a Sage and Cara fight in this school. it brought back so many memories." Stacy said.

"Yeah whatever. I don't like the fact that Cara won though. It'll just make her head bigger even the more." Madeline said.

"Wish I got to witness a You and Cara fight instead. This would have been a whole new different topic." Stacy said to Madeline.

"Yeah. We would have been talking about how I buried her alive with shame." Madeline said and chuckled.

Everyone was quiet. Nobody wanted to second her. Madeline gave her friends weird looks.

"Wait, do you guys think I can't beat her or something?" Madeline asked her friends.

"Sureeee Ofcourse you can. Right David?" Stacy said and looked over to David for help.

"Yes. Yes You can definitely beat her, hands down. Not even a competition." David said while nodding his head.

"Good to know you guys know that." Madeline said to them and continued with her food.

"Why do they hate each other? Sage and Cara." I decided to say something.

"You don't need to bother yourself about that Cassie. Okay?" Madeline said to me.

"Right. Wouldn't hurt to know though." I said to her.

"It's not important. Don't burden yourself with that information." Madeline said to me.

I simply nodded. It seemed she didn't want me to be involved with neither sage nor Cara.

"You know what, i should go. The teacher is expecting me soon. And I'm taking these with me. Bye guys, see you later. " I said to them and carried my tray of food with me out of the cafeteria.

I felt like being alone for the moment so I went up to the building where I met that fire boy the other day.

Some part of me was hoping he wasn't there and the other part was hoping he was.

I got to the building and it was empty.

I didn't know why I suddenly felt disappointed.

I sat on the floor which looked pretty neat and comfortable to me and also dropped my tray of food besides me.

They served good food here. Mostly all very delicious. I chummed on the food way to fast probably because no one else was here.

There's this comfort that comes with eating alone with no prying eyes around to judge how you eat.

I finished up my food and opened up the pack of juice I was with.

I drank it without pausing until it was empty and threw the pack into the garbage bin that was across where I was sitting.

I should play basketball sometime. I'm a really good thrower.

"You look like you need more." I heard someone say.

I almost jumped because I wasn't expecting anyone else to be here.

"Umm.... Yeah....I mean no. I'm full so..." I said to the very handsome blonde boy that keeps popping out everywhere I go.

"You sure about that? I just witnessed you murder the poor juice. Don't get me started with the brutality you had with the food." he said to me sounding amused.

I laughed awkwardly and cleared my throat.

"How long have you been here?" I asked him.

"A while." he replied still looking at me.

"Oh. I didn't hear you come in." I said to him.

"That's because I was already here when you got in." he said to me.

"Oh..... I'm guessing you must have been in the balcony then." I said to him and he slightly nodded his head.

"Right. so.... how's it going?" I asked him and instantly regretted it.

Seriously Cassie? 'how's it going?' is that the best I could come up with.

I mentally face palmed myself.

He slightly chuckled at my question.

"I'll be on my way. Enjoy the solitude." he said to me and was about leaving.

"Hey!" I said loudly to him.

He paused and turned to look at me.

"The other day...It was you right? You made that flower thing for me. Didn't you?" I asked him.

I already knew it was him. I just wanted to hear him say it.

"Like I said.... enjoy your solitude." he repeated and turned back to leave me standing there.

I paused for a second not sure what to do next until I regained myself.

I quickly picked up my tray and ran after him.

"Hey! Wait up!" I yelled out for him to stop.

He suddenly stopped and turned to look at me.

He looked surprised to see me.

"What are you doing?" he asked me.

"Can I go with you to wherever you're going? I don't have anything else to do now so..." I asked him awkwardly and laughed slightly.

"Why would you want to come with me? You don't even know who I am." he said to me with a serious face.

"And how do you keep doing that?" he asked me still serious.

"Doing what?" I asked him.

"Getting my full attention even when I don't want to give it.." he said calmly.

"um.....I don't know what you're talking about. You probably have a crush on me or something." I said to him and laughed awkwardly.

What is with me today? When did I suddenly become a clown.

"Don't you have a class or something to get to? You just started here, you still have a lot to learn." he said to me.

"I'm not really interested in the classes. I'm only here because I don't have a choice." I said to him.

"Look Cassie....You need to go for your classes. Hanging around me is a bad idea and it's not good for you. Trust me." he said to him.

"You know my name." I said and smiled at him.

"Are you even listening to me? I said you shouldn't be around me. Just go for your classes. I don't want to be blamed for dragging you behind." he said to me and left me standing alone.

So much for making me a flower just to turn me down.

I sighed heavily and made my way to the cafeteria to drop off my tray.

🌊🌊🌊

I went to my own private class with Mr Ken Griffey after I left the cafeteria.

"Cassie, I'm glad you could make it. I was beginning to think you wouldn't show up." Mr Ken said to me.

"Sorry. I was caught up with something." I said to him.

"Its all good. So are you ready?" he asked me and I shrugged.

"Yeah sure I guess." I said not really interested in it.

"Ok. Lesson number one. Clearing your mind. You have to clear your mind from distractions and focus on what you want to happen. Can you do that?" he asked me.

"Yeah. I think so." I said to him.

"Okay. Give it a try." he said to me and I nodded.

I closed my eyes for some minutes and then opened up one eye to peek at the teacher when nothing was happening.

"Cassie...you have to concentrate." the teacher said to me.

"Okay okay. Sorry." I sighed and closed my eyes once again.

We were there for minutes, almost an hour still nothing happened.

I was fed up and decided to stop.

"What is the point of all of this.... nothing seems to be happening." I said aloud and folded my arms.

"Trust me Cassie. Alot has happened within the minutes you've been here. Not physically but up here. " the teacher said and pointed to his head.

"Everyone needs to stop telling me to trust them. I'm a little stingy when it comes to giving out my trust." I said to him.

"Cassie I'm only trying to help you. We both have the same goal here. To find out what you're truely capable of." the teacher said to me.

"Yeah I know. I'm sorry. It's just that nothing magical has happened yet since we've been at this. And It's all beginning to seem like a waste of time." I said to him.

"Its not a waste of time. So I'm begging you to let go of anything that's bothering you right now and focus on your powers." he said to me.

"Fine." I said to him.

Mr Ken went over to the door and opened it, and someone brought in a dog.

He took the leash of the dog and came closer to me.

"Now let's experiment." he said to me and I raised my eyebrows.

"With the dog?" I asked him.

"Yep. Meet Ronnie." he said while looking at the dog.

"Oh. Hi Ronnie." I said to the dog and he barked at me, startling me in the process.

"Great she hates me." I declared.

"Just give her some time. She'll eventually like you." the teacher said to me.

"Now. I want you to ask Ronnie to sit. Use your mind." he said to me.

"Okay. I'll try." I said and focused on the dog.

I repeated the word 'sit' on my mind countless times but it didn't work.

"Its not working." I said to the teacher.

"Just try harder. I want you to mean what you're thinking." he told me.

I let out a heavy breath and focused back on the dog. I pictured him sitting nicely in my mind and suddenly the dog sat down huffing and puffing.

I gasped with excitement. "I did it!" I said happily.

"Yes yes you did." the teacher said to me.

"Let me try something." I said and focused on the dog again.

I pictured him running to get a stick that was lying across the classroom and bringing it here. And suddenly he did exactly what I imagined.

"Oh my god, I did that!" I say excitedly and the teacher patted my shoulder.

"Very good job Cassie. I'm impressed." he said to me.

"Thank you." I said to him.

"Okay. I think we should call it a day. We'll meet back here tomorrow for another lesson. Okay? " he said to me. And I nodded.

"Remember....you can't tell anyone about what your powers are yet. Okay?" he reminded me.

"Yeah yeah. I know. Till we're sure." I said and smiled at him.

"Well then.... You may go now Cassie. I'll see you tomorrow." Mr Ken said to me and took the dog with him and went out of the classroom.

I also made my way to the school library.

I wanted to know more about the history of this place.
